Operations Research: International Conference Series (ORICS) is published 4 times a year and is the flagship journal of the Indonesian Operational Research Association (IORA). It is the aim of ORICS to present papers which cover the theory, practice, history or methodology of OR. However, since OR is primarily an applied science, it is a major objective of the journal to attract and publish accounts of good, practical case studies. Consequently, papers illustrating applications of OR to real problems are especially welcome. In real applications of OR: forecasting, inventory, investment, location, logistics, maintenance, marketing, packing, purchasing, production, project management, reliability and scheduling. In a wide variety of environments: community OR, education, energy, finance, government, health services, manufacturing industries, mining, sports, and transportation. In technical approaches: decision support systems, expert systems, heuristics, networks, mathematical programming, multicriteria decision methods, problems structuring methods, queues, and simulation.

Abstract

Multicollinearity refers to a condition where high correlation between independent variables in linear regression model occurs.  In this case, using ordinary least squares (OLS) leads to unstable model. Some penalized regression approaches such as ridge and elastic-net regression can be applied to overcome the problem. Penalized regression estimates model by adding a constrain on the size of parameter regression. In this study, simulation dataset is generated, comprised of 100 observation and 95 independent variables with high correlation. This empirical study shows that elastic-net method outperforms the ridge regression and OLS.  In correlated dataset, the OLS is failed to produce a prediction model based on mean squared error (MSE)

Abstract

Covid-19 is a collection of viruses that attack the respiratory system. This virus spread quickly and spread to other regions in China and most countries in the world, including Indonesia. North Sulawesi Province, especially Manado City is one of the cities in Indonesia that has been affected by Covid-19. The highest confirmed Covid-19 cases in Manado City are in the Malalayang, Mapanget, and Wanea villages which are geographically not adjacent/neighboring. This study aims to analyze the spatial distribution of Covid-19 cases and their characteristics. This study uses significant data on Covid-19 cases in every village in Manado City, where there are 86 villages (Malayang Satu Barat Village and Malalayang Satu Timur Village combined), and the focus of this research is on the confirmed variables, with the latest data update is October 21, 2021. The effect of covid-19 between observation locations is accomplished using Moran's I, and the weighting matrix used is the Euclidean distance matrix. The Moran's Index provides an overview of the spatial relevance of the Covid-19 case data in every village in Manado City and specifically the spatial attachment of every village will be explained by the Local Moran's I value (LISA). The results of this study found that there is a spatial autocorrelation found using the Euclidean distance matrix. A spatial correlogram of 30 meters is used as the maximum geographical distance limit for being infected with Covid-19. The Moran's Index value of the Covid-19 case in Manado City is 0.348, meaning that there is a positive autocorrelation between the villages. There are thirteen villages that affect the spread of Covid-19 in Manado City, namely Malalayang Satu Timur dan Barat, Malalayang Satu, Winangun Satu, Kleak, Karombasan Utara, Ranotana Weru, Bumi Nyiur, Pakowa, Tinkulu, Taas, Paal Empat, Tikala Baru, and Paniki Dua.

Abstract

One of the assumptions in ordinary least squares (OLS) in estimating regression parameter is lack of multicollinearity. If the multicollinearity exists, Partial Least Square (PLS) and Principal Component Regression (PCR) can be used as alternative approaches to solve the problem. This research intends to compare those methods in modeling factors that influence the Human Development Index (HDI) of North Sumatra Province in 2019 obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics. The result indicates that the PLS outperforms the PCR in term of  the coefficient of determination and squared error

Abstract

The global Covid-19 pandemic has had an impact on the Indonesian people's health, economic situation, education, and social life. The most visible impact is financial difficulties in the family, as the family economy is deteriorating as a result of different social limitations that disrupt community economic activity. Despite the economic slump, many students appear to be inspired to establish a business and succeed in earning money to help support their families' financial situation. This study uses qualitative approaches to investigate the effect of social media in student entrepreneurial behavior, with 31 students serving as informants who have created and run businesses since the pandemic hit Indonesia. Data collection techniques are through observation, interviews, documentation studies and triangulation, with analytical techniques: Data Reduction, Data Display and Conclusion Drawing. All the results of the research data were processed using the data analysis technique of the Miles and Huberman model. The study's findings suggest that, in this digital age, social media may help students become great businesspeople who never give up, are confident, have mental-emotional resilience, can read possibilities and opportunities, and are always learning and increasing their knowledge. Students who create businesses are mostly motivated by a desire to help their families' financial situation, which is deteriorating. The implications of this research are:, in addition to generating business motivation, social media can assist business students in developing their businesses by promoting products, building relationships with consumers, suppliers, and competitors, as well as receiving direct feedback that can be used to improve product and service quality in a simple and relatively inexpensive manner. Obstacles include a lack of expertise and creative ability to develop fascinating content at the same time, as well as limitations imposed by society's value system, which restricts the amount of space available for commercial operations.

Abstract

Indonesia in 2030 experienced a demographic bonus in the sense that Indonesia would have far more labor supply than in previous years. Then there is a discourse that this 4.0 industrial revolution will replace a lot of work, especially low-skilled work or does not require special skills and rough jobs replaced by machinery and artificial intelligent (AI). To obtain the value of the percentage of positive, negative and neutral sentiments from the public regarding the impact of the industrial revolution 4 against labor and employment on online news media sites and social media Twitter, the authors conducted a study "analysis of employment sentiment in Indonesian telematics using multinomial naïve bayes. " The author uses the preprocessing stages including the case folding, tokenizing, stopword, and stemming. Then weighting with Term Frequency - Invers Document Frequency (TF-IDF). After that the classification stage was done using the multinomial Naive Bayes Classifier method and compare it with the Vector Space model classification. The evaluation used is the Confusion Matrix evaluation method. This study produced an evaluation value in the multinomial method of Naïve Bayes for news data to produce an accuracy of 81.75%, average precision 82.77%, and the average recall of 78.15%. Whereas with the Vector Space model method for news data produces an accuracy of 67.88%, average precision 65.59%, and the average recall of 70.56%. On Twitter data with the Multinomial Naïve Bayes method resulted in an accuracy of 88.80%, average precision 93.75%, and the average recall of 74.44%. On Twitter data with the Vector Space Model method resulted in 85.60% accuracy, average precision 76.44% and average recall of 86.07%.
