Abstract

Abstract In the machining process, there are three parameters that need to be determined before the machining process is carried out, namely: depth of cut (a), feed motion (f) and cutting speed (v). Determination of the three parameters of the machining process will determine the quality of the product to match the desired geometry and tolerance. The three parameters of the machining process will affect tool life, where the selection of a constant depth of cut and feed motion will produce the most optimum level of tool wear. This study used several machining parameters with several variations, namely: depth of cut (a) of 0.5 mm; 0.8mm; 1.1mm; and 1.4 mm and feeding motion (f) of 0.062 mm/revolution and 0.1 mm/revolution. The machining process is carried out at a constant (n) rotation of 425 rpm. Based on the research that has been done, it was found that the tool life on the feed motion (f) = 0.062 mm/revolution is better than that on the feed motion (f) = 0.1 mm/revolution, where at (f) = 0.1 mm/revolution chisel wears out faster. Optimum cutting conditions are produced at feed motion (f) = 0.062 mm/revolution and with a depth of cut (a) = 1.1 mm where the production cost (Cp) is Rp.746.56/product.

Abstract

This study aims to get an overview of the operational parameters of a small-scale electrical generation plant that utilizes thermal energy included in the flue gases of garbage waste incineration. The organic Rankine cycle (ORC) thermodynamic system was performed to evaluate this system. The organic fluid was used as a heat transfer medium instead of water because it has a low boiling point so it does not require a lot of thermal energy to generate small-scale electric power. Hexane was used as the working fluid and Aspen Hysys was used as a tool to perform simulations. The plant is optimized through the operating temperature, working fluid flow rate, and pressure to obtain electrical output power that can be obtained. The simulation results show that flue gas at a temperature range of 300 to 350 0C can produce electric power in the ranges of 7.84 to 128.6 kW at a working pressure ranges of 2.5 to 7.5 bar, and working fluid flow rate of 3.600 to 10.100 kg/h

Abstract

Weather forecasts are important information for various agencies and the wider community. Weather forecasts are usually used to benefit various sectors such as transportation, tourism, plantations and others. This study aims to create a new model regarding weather forecasting using the random forest and C4.5 algorithms using the WEKA application. The dataset uses data from the Panjang Maritime Meteorological Station with 365 days of data and six attributes: rain intensity, average temperature, humidity, rainfall, sunshine duration and average wind speed. The results obtained from this study between the random forest algorithm and C4.5, namely cross-validation trials fold 5, 10 and 15 random forests, have better results than C4.5 by using the MAE and RMSE evaluation values, then in testing with a percentage split 25% on the evaluation of the MAE value is better at C4.5. Still, the random forest has better results for all experiments evaluating the RMSE value and two evaluations of the MAE value

Abstract

The development of urban planning and infrastructure such as roads, buildings, bridges, ports has increased in recent years in Pontianak City. One of them is the construction of Jalan Parallel Sepakat II which was carried out in early 2022, connecting Jalan Sepakat II to the Tanjungpura University Campus Complex. In the case in the field, the previously compacted embankment has decreased, so backfilling is carried out to adjust the planned elevation. Due to the unsafe existing condition factor, improvements were made that were supported by retaining wall modeling. In addition to the retaining wall modeling, the current planning in the field is also stabilized by using a pile and geotextile, in order to increase the bearing capacity of the soil and can minimize the decrease or deformation that occurs at the research location. In the process of analyzing the retaining wall, analysis is also carried out with the Plaxis Proffesional 8.6 program. The results obtained in the form of deformation numbers and safety factor results. From the conclusion, the factor of safety is obtained which is not safe so that it is feasible to be reinforced. However, some adjustments are needed to the design plan so that it can function properly in accordance with the intent and purpose of the reinforcement.

Abstract

Weather changes play a crucial role in key sectors in Indonesia, such as agriculture and fisheries. However, limited weather data in all regions is an obstacle. This research proposes an innovative Arduino-based weather monitoring instrument that is flexible, economical and increases data availability in Indonesia. The ergonomic and flexible design of the Portable Weather Station allows mobility without dependence on building structures. With real-time monitoring using sensors for temperature, humidity, air pressure, wind speed and wind direction, this tool provides comprehensive information. Field testing shows good operation. The diversity of sensor parameters and efficient design make the Portable Weather Station innovative. Optimizing energy use and integration of advanced technologies, such as remote monitoring and cloud data processing, are recommended. The benefits involve easy and accurate access to weather information, supporting vital sectors. With continuous monitoring and evaluation, the Portable Weather Station has the potential to be an effective solution in dynamic weather monitoring, advancing sectors such as agriculture, fisheries and environmental policy, and creating communities that are more resilient to climate and economic change.
