"Jurnal CULTURE" is published by AKI University which contains writings raised from the results of research or equivalent to the results of research (Scientific Work) in the fields of Culture, Language, and Literature. "Jurnal CULTURE" is published twice a year, on May and November. Editors receive typed articles in a format following predetermined rules. The editorial team has the right to determine the writing to be published, make changes to the composition of the manuscript, improve the language, ask the author to improve the manuscript, and reject those who are deemed not eligible in accordance with the applicable provisions. The entire editorial board would like to thank all those who have contributed ideas, thoughts, and manuscripts. Hopefully this collaboration can continue well. Abstract

Knowledge and behavior which are socially transmitted are called culture. Culture is shared by some group of people. Culture is abstract. It is located in the idea of human who lives in community. In more traditional definitions of the term, culture is said to embody the best that has been thought and said in society. People who live in society of course have tradition in their community. It can be seen from their way of life, how they interact to their relatives, and how they address their relatives. In this research, the writer discusses about the relationship of kinship in a community which influences the way of communication with certain relatives. The cultural community which becomes the object of this research is Karo culture. Karo has a tradition which is known as rebu. Rebu is a prohibition of direct communication with certain relatives.  The used data are primary data and secondary data. The methods of data collection are metode simak, metode cakap and metode introspeksi. In analyzing the data, the writer uses sociolinguistics as metode padan. While method of data presentation which is used by the writer is descriptive study with informal method.  From the results of the research, it can be concluded that rebu tradition in Karo culture, relation between mami-kela, bengkila-permain and erturangku, are not allowed  to communicate directly. In establishing a communication, they have to use the third person as intermediary.  Keywords : Sociolinguistics, Karo culture, rebu, kinship.

Abstract

Culture is the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively, a refined understanding or appreciation, the customs, ideas, and social behaviour of a particular people or group. Besides, a culture actually contains local wisdom, that means the quality of being wise, the body of knowledge and experience that develops within a specified society or period. This journal focuses on parental and siblings relationship according to the culture and local wisdom in Karonese. It uses some theories to deal with culture, local wisdom and anthropolinguistics. The methods used to finish this research are method of data collection; collecting the data from Karonese local wisdom, (song, poetry, folklore, saying expression, wise word, proverbs, advise, slogans and traditional rituals and legends), method of padan which are language style, social elements, and implicit meaning, and informal method which explains  the data descriptively. The research finds that there are many unique cultures and local wisdoms of Karonese in parental and sibling relationship represented in song, proverb, and folklore  Keywords : culture, anthropolinguistics, local wisdom, Karonese

Abstract

Pacitan with the title "Capital of Prehistory" has a lot of sites that are a reflection of prehistoric life. Song Terus wich is one of sites, the located in the village of Wereng, Punung, Pacitan. Song Terus a series of Thousand Mountains stretching from Yogyakarta, Wonosari, Wonogiri and Pacitan. This research aims (1), to determine the general picture Song Terus, (2) To determine the findings associated with prehistoric sites in Song Terus and (3) to determine prehistoric human cultural heritage trail in Song Terus. This study used a qualitative descriptive study using the approach of the writing of history (historical). The results showed that Song Terus is a prehistoric site that reflects the picture of prehistoric human life. Song Terus as cave prehistoric human settlements, with the discovery of relics result of the findings of human fossils, animal fossil and the results of human culture. The first human fossils were found including Australomelanesid race. One of the human fossils is called the "Mbah Sayem" which is regarded as the oldest man in the village of Wereng. Animal fossil found are many types of monkeys, buffalo, cows, birds, reptiles, deer and antelope. Results of human culture in the form of artifacts constitute the equipment of prehistoric human fulfillment that comes from rocks and animal bones. Artifacts such as kapak genggam, kapak perimbas, serpih, flakes, and alat tulang. Activity of a society that is still moving, grouping and division of tasks between them is reflected in the cultural relics and remains of fauna show that the Song Terus a residential sites Palaeolithic (Old Stone period).  Keywords: Prehistoric Culture, Song Terus, Paleolithic

Abstract

Samin community communicate by using Ngoko Javanese language because they believe that all people have the same position. But with the growing age, Samin people now know the Javanese speech levels. This is because they have a lot of associations with nonSamin people in buying and selling, community organization and others. Samin community in Klopodhuwur village use Krama Javanese language because of the participants. This does not mean that they do not run the Samin teachings. Samin community in Klopodhuwur village are still running the teachings, because they have the honesty and sincerity as a manifestation of Samin teaching. Abstract

Enclave is the use of vocabularies that is different from the surrounding villages. The differences can be obtained by the influences of the other vocabularies from the nearest villages. The influences can be in morphological form, phonological or in lexical form. The aim of this research is to show that there are some influences in morphological, phonological and lexical forms in Sundanese language in Madura Village, Wanareja District from Javanese language in Cilacap and Sundanese language in Brebes. This research is library research because to collect the data, the writer used documents. To analyse the data, it is used Padan and Agih Method. The result of this research is that there are some influences happened in Sundanese Language in Cilacap village. The influence in lexicon is from the historical background of the village, while in phonetic, some sound changes are in assimilation, metathesis and anatixis processes. In morphology, the influent process is in reduplication, that are, reduplication and affixation. Thus, the conclusion of this research is Sundanese language in Madura Village, Wanareja District is influenced by languages nearest to the village.  Keywords: enclave, reduplication, morphological form, phonological form, lexical form

Abstract

This research aims in describing the problem accuracy of translation utterance of Spongebob. It is a qualitative descriptive. The source of data uses Amazing Journey comic written by Stephen Hillenburg and its Indonesian translation by Komik Warna Team. Meanwhile, the data of this research is all of Spongebob utterances. The result of analysis shows that there are 10 (ten) data considered as less accurate and 1 (one) datum belongs to inaccurate translation. The translation accuracy problems in this research is due to the fact that there are inappropriate translation technique, punctuation and incorrect collocation Keyword: translation, utterance, accuracy, comic

Abstract

Malay Indonesian for centuries has become lingua franca in South Asia and has been completely fused with local languages and foreign languages that developed in Indonesia. And on the 28th of October 1928 the Indonesian leaders agreed the language to serve the national language of Indonesia. The Indonesian people, after the rise of the movement in the twentieth century agreed and upheld the language as language of unity. Indonesian language has become the national language and has function as the official language, ranging from the language of instruction in education, a means of communication in daily offices, until the language of  cultural development and of modern science and technology.  Key word: Indonesian, National Language, the language of unity

Abstract

Writers, female and male, black and white all wrote about the hardship of being the culture that wasn’t liked. Regional writers emphasized characteristics of specific geographic settings—the culture, speech (dialect), customs, and landscape. Abstract

This research aims to: (1) describe the use of figure of speech and the meaning form in a collection of poems Blues for Bonnie by WS Renda. (2) describe the form of the use of imagery and poetry in the set of meanings Blues for Bonnie by WS Renda. Techniques of data collection were done by using libraries, observation, and record. Data are in the form of words, phrases, and sentences in a collection of poems Blues for Bonnie by WS Renda. Sources of data in this study are primary data source in the form of five poems Blues for Bonnie published by Peacock Press, East Jakarta in 2008 and secondary data sources include journals, papers, and articles. Data analysis techniques in this study use a model of Riffatere semiotic readings (heuristic and hermeneutic reading). The results indicate that there are utilization of figure of speech and imagery in a collection of poems Blues for Bonnie by WS Rendra. Figure consists of (a) figure of speech metaphor, (b) figure of speech simile, (c) figure of speech personification, (d) figure of speech metonemia, and (e) sinedoki figure of speech. Figure of speech meaning and imagery in a collection of poems by WS Blues for Bonnie Renda is divided into two, namely (a) the meaning of figure of speech and (b) the meaning of the images in a collection of poems Blues for Bonnie by WS Renda. Figure of speech meaning covering, the social aspects of which moral deviation problem, the problem of poverty, politics, and religious aspects. As for the meaning of speech image includes, among others the social aspects of moral aberration problem, the problem of poverty, political, and religious aspects.  Keywords: figure of speech, imagery, poetry Blues for Bonnie, study stylistics
