Journal of Sustainable Community Development (JSCD) is published by Sekolah Tinggi Manajemen IPMI with a strong identity of blending the locally embedded and globally connected wisdom. JSCD is a biannual refereed journal concerned with the practice and processes of community development. It provides a forum for academics, practitioners and community representatives to explore issues and reflect on practices relating to the full range of community development activity. This journal is a peer-reviewed online journal dedicated to the publication of high-quality research focused on research, implementation of community development policy. The journal is an open access journal and accepting all papers on community engagement from Indonesia and overseas countries. The journal will emphasize the implementation of local wisdoms of Indonesia and also the blend with the global goals supporting the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations.

Abstract

This report assesses the talent management system of XYZLive, a tech startup in Indonesia specializing in video-on-demand and livestream services. The company faces challenges in recruitment, talent retention, and organizational development. Through a comprehensive methodology involving questionnaires, interviews, and direct observation, key issues were identified in inflow, throughflow, and outflow talent management processes. Solutions proposed include defining core competencies, establishing a talent pool, nurturing a coaching culture, and implementing a structured training and development pipeline. The implementation of these strategies aims to enhance recruitment efficiency, reduce employee turnover, and ensure continuous employee growth. Ultimately, the report offers actionable solutions to improve XYZLive's talent management system, fostering sustainable organizational growth and employee satisfaction.

Abstract

In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and the accelerating digitalization, Tokio Marine Indonesia (TMI) faces significant challenges in aligning its business strategies with its talent management practices. This study examines the current talent management strategies at TMI and evaluates their effectiveness in supporting the company’s sustainability and growth. The analysis identifies a gap between TMI's traditional human resource approaches and the modern talent management practices necessary to thrive in today's dynamic environment. Key issues include the lack of strategic HR alignment, inconsistent training and development programs, and insufficient succession planning. The study proposes a comprehensive talent management framework that emphasizes global HR directives, robust succession plans, and consistent training programs. The framework aims to enhance TMI’s organizational readiness to address digital economic shifts, business disruptions, and global pandemics by fostering an agile and engaged workforce. Implementing these recommendations is expected to align TMI’s talent management with its broader business strategies, ensuring long-term sustainability and competitiveness.

Abstract

This paper tries to identify the strategic corporate social responsibility of selected airline companies to ascertain inputs for the creation of a sustainable service delivery, by looking at the implementation level of its corporate social responsibility in the environmental, philanthropic, economic and ethical areas. The study shows that in terms of environmental responsibility, waste segregation has the highest level of practice, while carbon footprint reduction is the lowest. Philanthropic activities participated in by employees is the most frequently practiced among other philanthropic responsibility initiatives, while the provision of scholarship grants is the least practiced. For economic responsibility, the recruitment of diverse talent received the highest mean score indicating it as the most practiced activity, while financial management strategy practices is the most challenged. As far as ethical responsibility is concerned, the practice of honesty is prevalent, while direct stakeholder involvement in planning the manual of ethical operations is almost none. The study also explored whether there was a significant difference in the assessment of CSR strategies between the two groups of respondents. The results indicated that there was a significant difference in the assessments of employees and passengers in terms of environmental, philanthropic, economic, and ethical responsibilities in comparison to management administrators. Moreover, the challenges encountered in the implementation of CSR strategies were identified and ranked, providing insights into the perceived difficulties faced by airline companies in implementing CSR strategies. Based on the findings of the study, recommendations for responding to the challenges of implementing CSR strategies were proposed. These recommendations include additional signage for environmental awareness, ensuring the sustainability of philanthropic activities, crafting financial measures to address constraints, and ensuring sustainable implementation of its manual of operation. The findings and recommendations provides inputs to for a sustainable service delivery and promoting responsible business practices in the airline industry.

Abstract

Perikanan cumi-cumi di perairan Kabupaten Kaimana Provinsi Papua Barat, Indonesia, masih belum berkembang, walaupun potensi sumber daya perikanannya sangat besar. Pendapatan nelayan masih rendah dan tingkat kemiskinan masih tinggi. Selain itu, dalam beberapa tahun terakhir, penurunan populasi ikan dan cumi-cumi telah menimbulkan kekhawatiran tentang kesehatan ekosistem laut. Makalah ini berfokus pada pelatihan, pendampingan pembuatan dan pemasanagan atraktor cumi-cumi di Kabupaten Kaimana Propinsi Papua di Indonesia. Konsep nilai tambah hasil perikanan dan konsep usaha bersama melaui koperasi juga diperkenalkan pada masyarakat nelayan. Metoda yang digunakan adalah pendampingan pemilihan lokasi, sosialisasi atraktor, pendampingan pembuatan atraktor, pendampingan pemasangan atraktor dan seminar tentang konsep koperasi dan nilai tambah. Efektivitas pelatihan, dan pembuatan atraktor cukup tinggi (70%) dengan indikator keberhasilan yaitu pemahaman konsep dan kemandirian pembuatan alat. Sedangkan efektivitas atraktor itu sendiri setelah dievaluasi adalah 70% (sangat efektif). Ditemukan bahwa penerangan cahaya atraktor memiliki efek negatif pada hasil penempelan telur, sehingga disarankan untuk menambah rumbai-rumbai untuk membuat atraktor menjadi lebih remang-remang. Gagasan lain adalah pembentukan koperasi untuk memperlancar rantai pasok, termasuk penyediaan, kotak pendingin, alat angkut dengan membentuk koperasi modern dengan teknologi untuk membuka akses pada pasar yang lebih luas. Kegiatan PKM ini dinilai sangat bermanfaat dan nelayan di Kabupaten Kaimana sangat mengharapkan program ini dapat dilanjutkan ini secara berkala.

Abstract

The use of LEDs in fishing operations has been increasing due to the reduction of fuel consumption and fuel can be replaced by the renewable energy sources, for example solar and seawater energy, which is easy to obtain, cheap, and does not produce waste that harms the environment. The objective of this community development is to test the newly designed smart lamp powered by seawater, and to disseminate the concept of cooperation. The methods used were assistance and coaching in the implementation of the smart lamp and seminars on cooperative concepts. The seawater battery lamp showed stable performance in the voltage range of 2.5 V - 4.5 V within 2 hours of fishing operation. the results of SONAR observations showed that fish began to approach under 10 minutes and gathered at 45 minutes with depths ranging from 1-4 meters. The lamp powered by the fuel oil powered generator is significantly brighter than the lamp powered by saltwater batteries. Some recommendation arises including the necessity for an alternative to zinc as a durable electrode, reduced tool size dimensions, a rust-resistant wire system, fewer cells in one battery unit, brighter lighting, and a more compact tool form design. The catches from both locations are also quite similar, including squid, cuttlefish, crab, and anchovies. The dissemination concept of cooperative social entrepreneurship, were effective shown by the score of intention after the seminar which is increased by 40%. It was recommended to accelerate the establishment of cooperatives to improve the level of living. This community development activities are considered very useful and fishermen in Palabuhan Ratu and Karang antu Serang.

Abstract

The purpose of this social responsibility services to convey the importance of financial management, product and operation management and most of all marketing management and how social media uses for the purpose of digital marketing by utilizing market place and such in the social media. This social responsibility services will assist Small Medium Enterprises (SMES) in resolving problems regarding environment and operation issues in correlation with planning, organizing, packaging and marketing via digital platforms. This social responsibility services are a community services involving 32 universities representatives which carried out their individual duties to perform and lecture best practices to the society in Ambit Village, Subdistrict of Sumedang West Java. These activities were conducted during 22nd and 23rd of December 2023 involving 150 local business ventures who were more than eager to develop their businesses to the next level. 150 local businesses were involving SMES operate in a variety of home industries, including handicrafts, eco-tourism, and food production. The result of this social responsibility services where participants were very satisfying and felt the insights and needs for such acts to develop skills, knowledge and ability among them. The evaluation revealed an increase in knowledge of digital marketing before and after the distribution.

Abstract

This community empowerment program aims to foster rural entrepreneurship using a motivational, training and synergy approach. This program is carried out in Pabuaran village, Gunung Sindur subdistrict, Bogor district, centered in Cikoleang. Motivational approaches are carried out formally and informally throughout the program. Enhancing entrepreneurial competence is carried out by providing training such as marketing, financial management and small business bookkeeping. To evaluate participants' entrepreneurial competence, this program assigns participants to prepare a business plan of interest. The entrepreneurial foster program has effectively increased entrepreneurial competence and synergy among entrepreneurial group members. An entrepreneurial group called Tunas CIkoleang was formed as a result of program implementation. Findings during program implementation conclude the importance of social capital, namely the strength of social relationships in fostering entrepreneurship in rural areas. Synergy is one of the factors that determines the success of community empowerment programs.

Abstract

Artikel ini membahas program pelatihan dan pendampingan sertifikasi halal bagi pelaku Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) di Desa Tegal, Kecamatan Kemang, Kabupaten Bogor. Program ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman pelaku UMKM tentang pentingnya sertifikasi halal sebagai kunci peningkatan daya saing usaha. Sertifikasi halal tidak hanya memberikan jaminan kehalalan produk bagi konsumen Muslim, tetapi juga membuka peluang bagi UMKM untuk memperluas pasar ke toko-toko besar dan tender pemerintah. Artikel ini menguraikan tiga tahapan pelaksanaan program, yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi, yang melibatkan koordinasi dengan lembaga terkait seperti BPJPH. Hasil program menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta mengenai prosedur pengajuan sertifikasi halal, persyaratan dokumen, serta manfaat strategis yang diperoleh melalui sertifikat halal. Evaluasi program menunjukkan bahwa pelatihan ini memberikan dampak positif bagi pelaku UMKM dalam menavigasi proses sertifikasi dan meningkatkan legalitas serta kredibilitas usaha mereka. Selain itu, artikel ini menyoroti pentingnya sinergi antara pelaku usaha, pemerintah daerah, dan lembaga sertifikasi dalam mempercepat standardisasi halal secara nasional, yang pada gilirannya akan memperkuat daya saing produk lokal di pasar yang lebih luas.

Abstract

The government of Indonesia is implementing a transition in the sustainability of the health system that includes, among other things, the development of medical devices made in the country to reduce its reliance to imported medical devices. Through The Regulation of The President of Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2021, the ministries/institutions/regional apparatuses are obligated to use domestic products, including national design and engineering. The obligation to use domestic products is performed if there are domestic products that have the sum of National Contribution Value (Tingkat Komponen Dalam Negeri, TKDN) plus the Corporate Contribution Value (Bobot Manfaat Perusahaan, BMP) of a minimum of 40% (forty percent). The change of new regulation impacted PT XYZ, a company supplying medical devices mostly to government institution experienced turbulence, sales performance 2022 drop more than 50% compared with 2021. New business strategy is needed to adapt, develop distinctive value to set apart from rivals and at the end optimize the revenue. The study uses of a thorough research technique performed in June – October 2024 that comprises business model canvas, stakeholder analysis, TOWS matrix, Porter's Five Forces Analysis, VRIO Analysis.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi sistem informasi akuntansi aktivitas penjualan tunai untuk meningkatkan pengendalian internal pada PT. Dieselindo Utama Nusa. Dilihat dari jenis datanya, pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif. Jenis pendekatan penelitian yang digunakan dalah studi kasus. Penelitian deskriptif tersebut bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengendalian internal pada sistem penjualan tunai PT. Dieselindo Utama Nusa. Untuk memperolah data dan informasi yang diperlukan dalam penelitian ini, maka metode yang digunakan adalah observasi dan wawancara dengan pihak terkait yaitu Sales, Sales Admin, Tim Warehouse, HRGA, Accounting and Finance. Pada metode kualitatif, data yang didapatkan peneliti akan dianalisis melalui proses klasifikasi, reduksi, deskripsi dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pihak-pihak yang terlibat dalam sistem penjualan tunai adalah Sales, Sales Admin, Tim Warehouse, HRGA, Accounting and Finance. Fungsi yang jelas dari setiap divisi dan penggunaan dokumen yang tepat, perusahaan dapat memastikan bahwa proses penjualan tunai berjalan dengan lancar, efisien, dan transparan. Adapun pengendalian internal yang terjadi pada PT. Dieselindo Utama Nusa masih mengalami beberapa masalah. Pada elemen organisasi, diketahui bahwa PT. Dieselindo Utama Nusa tidak memiliki SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) pada bagian penjualan secara tertulis dan masalah komunikasi antar divisi. Pada elemen Otorisasi dan Prosedur Pencatatan, diketahui dalam beberapa kasus terdapat sales yang melakukan penyerahan barang, ini dapat menyebabkan ketidakjelasan tanggung jawab dan potensi kesalahan dalam pencatatan dan pengiriman. Pada elemen praktik yang sehat, PT. Dieselindo Utama Nusa (DUN) memiliki kebijakan untuk meminimalisir jumlah kas yang berlebihan di perusahaan, yang bertujuan untuk mengurangi risiko kehilangan, pencurian, atau penyalahgunaan uang tunai. Kemudian, diketahui pandangan pengguna terhadap efektivitas sistem informasi akuntansi penjualan tunai di PT. Dieselindo Utama Nusa belum berjalan baik karena tidak semua karyawan melakukan pekerjaannya sesuai dengan tugasnya serta belum terdapat SOP secara tertulis dan pasti serta dikomunikasikan kepada karyawan terkait dengan proses penjualan tunai
