Abstract

Community-acquired pneumonia is a major cause of morbidity and mortality, particularly among the elderly. Age-related physiological changes, immune decline, and comorbidities may influence clinical manifestations and disease severity. Assessment of pneumonia severity using the Pneumonia Severity Index (PSI) is essential for appropriate clinical management. This study was an observational analytic study with a retrospective cross- sectional design using medical record data of elderly patients with community- acquired pneumonia at RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid, Bekasi, from May 2024 to April 2025. A total of 73 patients were selected using consecutive sampling. Data were analyzed using univariate and descriptive. Most patients were classified as elderly aged 60–74 years. The most common symptoms were cough and shortness of breath. Based on the PSI score, most patients had low to moderate pneumonia severity, while only a small proportion had severe pneumonia. Most patients were classified as elderly aged 60–74 years. Abstract

The quality of medical team performance constitutes a crucial determinant of excellence in hospital services. Organizational dimensions such as managerial support, communication patterns, and work motivation are widely recognized as key factors influencing employee performance within healthcare institutions. A comprehensive understanding of the relative contributions of these variables is essential for the formulation of effective human resource management strategies. This study aims to examine the influence of managerial support, communication patterns, and work motivation on the quality of medical team performance at Benyamin Guluh Hospital Kolaka. This research employed a quantitative approach utilizing a survey design. Data were collected through structured questionnaires administered to 78 medical personnel. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling with the assistance of SmartPLS software to assess the relationships among variables and test the proposed hypotheses. The findings reveal that managerial support and communication patterns do not exert a statistically significant effect on the quality of medical team performance. Conversely, work motivation demonstrates a positive and significant influence and emerges as the most dominant factor affecting performance outcomes. The coefficient of determination (R²) value of 0.499 indicates that managerial support, communication patterns, and work motivation collectively account for 49.9% of the variance in medical team performance. Work motivation plays a central role in enhancing the quality of medical team performance. The implementation of targeted motivational strategies among medical personnel proves more effective than relying solely on managerial support or communication enhancement initiatives.

Abstract

Menstruation is a normal biological process; however, for elementary school students with limited knowledge, it may provoke fear and anxiety. Previous studies indicate that 54.1% of young girls possess low levels of knowledge about menstruation, which contributes to heightened anxiety during menarche. Adequate knowledge is considered crucial for improving mental readiness. This study emphasizes the role of knowledge in comparison with other influencing factors, highlighting the importance of menstrual education in shaping students’ understanding. This quantitative study employed a cross-sectional design. The sample comprised 115 female students in grades 4, 5, and 6 from SDN Kaliasin 1, Kaliasin 5, and Kaliasin 7 in Surabaya who had not yet experienced menarche. Data were collected using questionnaires to assess knowledge of menstruation (independent variable) and anxiety levels (dependent variable), measured with the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (Z-SAS). Data analysis was conducted using the Spearman Rank correlation test. The findings showed that 81.0% of respondents had a moderate level of knowledge regarding menstruation, while 12.4% had low levels of knowledge. In terms of anxiety, 55.7% of students experienced moderate anxiety when facing menarche. The Spearman Rank test yielded a p-value of 0.005 with a low correlation coefficient (r = 0.296), indicating a statistically significant relationship between menstrual knowledge and anxiety levels. There is a significant relationship between knowledge of menstruation and anxiety levels among elementary school students. Comprehensive menstrual education is essential to enhance students’ mental preparedness and to reduce anxiety when facing menarche.

Abstract

The performance of Emergency Department (ED) personnel constitutes a critical determinant of hospital service quality. This study aims to analyze the influence of work motivation on service quality and staff performance, as well as the effect of service quality on staff performance at the Emergency Department of Lakipadada Regional Hospital, Tana Toraja, while identifying the most dominant factor affecting staff performance. The research employed a quantitative approach with an analytical design. The sample comprised 50 ED personnel selected through total sampling. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed through multiple linear regression, including t-tests, F-tests, and the coefficient of determination (R²). The findings indicate that work motivation has a significant effect on service quality (β = 0.393; p = 0.005). Partially, both work motivation (β = 0.393; p = 0.005) and service quality (β = 0.479; p = 0.001) significantly influence ED staff performance. Simultaneously, work motivation and service quality significantly affect staff performance (F = 49.521; p = 0.001). The coefficient of determination reveals that 67.8% of the variance in staff performance can be explained by work motivation and service quality (R² = 0.678), with service quality emerging as the most dominant factor. These findings underscore the necessity of managerial strategies focused on enhancing both work motivation and service quality to improve the performance of ED personnel at Lakipadada Regional Hospital, Tana Toraja.

Abstract

The growing demand for functional foods has increased consumer interest in products labeled as high in protein. However, determinants of consumers’ intention to consume such products remain inconsistent across studies. This research aimed to examine the effects of nutrition knowledge, health motivation, price, brand, perceived healthiness, perceived tastiness, and online review on consumers’ intention to consume high protein products, both partially and simultaneously. A quantitative analytical survey was conducted among 58 respondents of productive age using a structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The results showed that, partially, only perceived healthiness and perceived tastiness had a significant effect on intention to consume high protein products (p < 0.05). In contrast, nutrition knowledge, health motivation, price, brand, and online review did not show significant partial effects. Nevertheless, simultaneous testing indicated that all variables collectively had a significant effect on consumption intention (p < 0.05), with a coefficient of determination of 30.7%. These findings highlight that consumers’ intention to consume high protein products is primarily driven by perceptual factors rather than general cognitive or marketing related factors. Therefore, product development and nutrition promotion strategies should integrate credible health claims with positive sensory experiences to encourage sustainable consumption intentions.

Abstract

The integration of Islamic values into medical professional education has emerged as a critical issue in response to the growing demand for physicians who are not only clinically competent but also possess strong moral and spiritual integrity in medical practice. This study aims to analyze and synthesize scholarly findings on the forms, models, and characteristics of Islamic curriculum integration and its contribution to the development of clinical and spiritual competencies among medical professional students. Employing a literature review method with a narrative integrative review design, this study examines national and international scientific publications published between 2020 and 2025. Data were collected through systematic searches of academic databases, including Google Scholar, PubMed, Scopus, DOAJ, and Garuda (Kemdikbud), and analyzed using narrative synthesis. The findings indicate that the integration of Islamic values within medical professional curricula is implemented through diverse models, ranging from the infusion of Islamic principles into courses and clinical learning, the development of integrated learning modules, to comprehensive institution-wide curricular approaches. Such integration is not reported to hinder the acquisition of clinical skills; rather, it strengthens medical professionalism by reinforcing clinical ethics, professional conduct (adab), empathetic communication, and spiritual awareness in doctor–patient interactions. The Clinical Skills Laboratory emerges as a particularly strategic learning environment for contextualizing and internalizing Islamic values through authentic clinical practice. Nevertheless, the literature also identifies challenges, including limitations in objective and standardized evaluation methods, as well as variability in faculty readiness and institutional capacity. Overall, the integration of an Islamic curriculum holds strong potential as a pedagogical framework for bridging clinical and spiritual competencies in medical professional education, provided it is designed systematically, contextually, and supported by appropriate instructional and assessment strategies.
