Abstract

This study aims to examine the professional zakat distribution strategy implemented by the Baitul Maal Foundation of the State Electricity Company Distribution Unit (YBM PLN UID) in South and Central Kalimantan, with the goal of effectively distributing professional zakat in both provinces. This study employs a descriptive qualitative method using a case study approach, conducted from June to July 2025. Primary data were obtained through in-depth interviews with foundation administrators, zakat officers (amil), and zakat recipients (mustahik), as well as direct observation of the professional zakat distribution process. Secondary data were collected from internal foundation documents, annual reports, and relevant literature. We carried out thematic data analysis by reducing the data, displaying it, and drawing conclusions in a structured way. The results of the study indicate that the professional zakat distribution strategy of YBM PLN UID South and Central Kalimantan involves both direct and indirect distribution patterns with consumptive and productive approaches. The distribution process includes structured planning, data collection, distribution, and evaluation. The segmentation of mustahik is based on strict socio-economic criteria to ensure targeted assistance. Moreover, challenges associated with the application of Good Amil Governance principles are pinpointed by this research, while suggestions are offered to improve the efficacy of strategies for distributing professional zakat moving forward

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the fundamental role of cross-sector collaborative governance in optimizing waqf asset management as a poverty alleviation strategy in Parepare City. Employing a qualitative field research design with an interpretative paradigm, primary data were collected through in-depth semi-structured interviews and non-participant observation involving key stakeholders, namely the Ministry of Religion, the Indonesian Waqf Board, and Nahdlatul Ulama's Philanthropic Institution (LAZISNU). The data were analyzed using an interactive qualitative model encompassing data condensation, display, and conclusion drawing. The research introduces the novelty of a Dual-Track Collaboration Model, demonstrating that state institutions predominantly focus on legal-defensive asset protection, while civil society autonomously drives productive community empowerment. Furthermore, the study identifies a Collaborative Capacity Gap, where facilitative leadership and external political support are constrained by the absence of local regulations and the centralized management of cash waqf funds. Consequently, this creates a paradox of Transitional Optimization based on Social Resilience. The current collaborative framework successfully secures socio-religious infrastructure and educational sustainability for vulnerable groups, yet it has not achieved immediate macroeconomic poverty alleviation due to regional fund outflows to the central government.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of exports, imports, and exchange rates on the balance of payments in five ASEAN countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Brunei Darussalam during the 2014–2024 period from both economic and Islamic perspectives. This research employs a quantitative associative approach using panel data obtained from the World Bank through the World Development Indicators database. The data were analyzed using panel data regression with EViews software. The findings reveal that exports have a positive and significant effect on the balance of payments by increasing foreign exchange earnings and strengthening the current account. Imports also significantly affect the balance of payments, particularly when they consist of capital goods and raw materials that support domestic production and economic growth, although excessive imports of consumption goods may weaken external balances. Furthermore, the exchange rate significantly influences the balance of payments through its impact on export competitiveness and import costs. Simultaneously, exports, imports, and exchange rates significantly affect the balance of payments in the five ASEAN countries. From an Islamic economics perspective, balance of payments management should uphold the principles of balance (tawazun), justice (‘adl), and the avoidance of riba and speculative activities in international economic transactions. The study contributes to the literature by integrating macroeconomic analysis with Islamic economic principles in the ASEAN context.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the relationship between community participation, halal standards compliance, local economic benefits, and cultural–environmental preservation in the development of community-based halal tourism on Lombok Island. Halal tourism development is expected not only to increase tourist visits but also to generate economic benefits for local communities while supporting cultural and environmental sustainability. This research uses a quantitative explanatory approach, with data collected through Likert-scale questionnaires, observation, and documentation from communities involved in halal tourism using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Partial Least Squares (PLS) approach through SmartPLS. The results show that community participation and halal standards compliance significantly influence local economic benefits, while local economic benefits positively affect cultural and environmental preservation. Additionally, community participation and halal standards compliance also directly contribute to cultural and environmental sustainability in halal tourism destinations. Therefore, strengthening collaboration among communities, government, and tourism stakeholders is essential to ensure that halal tourism development supports sustainable economic, cultural, and environmental outcomes

Abstract

This literature review explores the evolution of Takaful, an Islamic insurance model based on mutual cooperation and shared responsibility, and its integration with blockchain technology. Takaful has experienced significant growth over the past few decades, driven by the increasing demand for Sharia-compliant financial solutions. However, the industry faces challenges such as lack of transparency, operational inefficiencies, and high administrative costs. Blockchain technology, with its characteristics of immutability, transparency, and decentralization, presents opportunities to address these challenges by enhancing operational efficiency, improving transparency, and reducing fraud. This review synthesizes existing research on the intersection of Takaful and blockchain, highlighting the historical roots of Takaful, the impact of blockchain on its operations, and the regulatory, technical, and socio-cultural challenges that accompany this integration. The findings underscore the potential of blockchain to revolutionize the Takaful industry while emphasizing the need for further research to navigate the complexities of implementation and ensure compliance with Islamic principles.

Abstract

Poverty continues to be a long-standing challenge for development, shaped by multiple social and economic elements, such as the quality of human capital and the state of women in the workforce. This research intends to analyze how the HDI, the FLFPR, and the FOUR impact poverty levels in the regencies and municipalities of Central Java Province from 2019 to 2023. The research utilized secondary data sourced from the BPS of Indonesia and employed a panel data regression method that merges cross-sectional information from 35 districts and sub-districts with time-series data covering the years 2019 to 2023. Findings from the Chow and Hausman tests suggest that the FEM is the optimal estimation framework. The HDI negatively and significantly affects poverty, while the female open unemployment rate positively and significantly impacts it. Conversely, the female labor force participation rate does not have a significant effect on poverty levels. The results indicate that enhancing the quality of human development and decreasing unemployment among women are vital for alleviating poverty. This study's unique contribution is its emphasis on the connection between human development and female labor market metrics to explain poverty at the regency and municipal levels in Central Java Province between 2019 and 2023.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has prompted Islamic banking institutions to enhance their service delivery through innovations in mobile banking. PT BPRS Lantabur Tebuireng has responded to this trend by launching a digital platform called Lantabur Mobile, specifically designed to streamline financial transaction processes for staff members within the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School community. Nevertheless, the adoption rate of this application remains suboptimal, as the majority of users tend to utilize only its fundamental functionalities. The present study seeks to examine the extent to which perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness influence both the intention to use and the actual usage decisions regarding Lantabur Mobile among employees at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School. A quantitative research design was applied, grounded in the theoretical framework of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). A total of 300 respondents were recruited as research participants through a purposive sampling strategy. The collected data were subsequently analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS), processed with the aid of SmartPLS software. Findings revealed that perceived ease of use exerted a positive and statistically significant influence on both perceived usefulness and intention to use. Perceived usefulness, in turn, demonstrated a positive and significant impact on intention to use. Moreover, intention to use was found to significantly and positively predict usage decisions. The mediating role of intention to use was also confirmed, bridging the relationship between perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness with usage decisions. These outcomes suggest that users' perceptions of ease and utility serve as critical determinants in fostering the acceptance and adoption of Islamic mobile banking services within a pesantren-based setting.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of chatbot usage and customer trust on consumers’ purchase intention at Shopee PT Renjana Adika Nusantara. This research employed a quantitative method with descriptive and associative approaches. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with a total of 120 respondents who met the research criteria. Data were analyzed using the Partial Least Squares (PLS-SEM) method with the assistance of SmartPLS software. The results indicate that chatbot usage has a positive and significant effect on consumers’ purchase intention, suggesting that ease of obtaining information, responsiveness, and service effectiveness through chatbot features can increase consumers’ intention to purchase. Meanwhile, customer trust does not have a significant effect on purchase intention, indicating that trust in chatbot services has not become the primary factor influencing purchasing decisions. Furthermore, the research model shows moderate explanatory power, where chatbot usage and customer trust explain 50.6% of the variance in purchase intention, while the remaining 49.4% is influenced by other factors outside this study. The novelty of this research lies in examining the role of chatbot usage and customer trust in influencing purchase intention within the Shopee platform context at PT Renjana Adika Nusantara. These findings imply that companies should improve chatbot service quality to create a better consumer shopping experience.

Abstract

This study examines the low adoption rate of gold installment products at PT BPR Syariah Lantabur Tebuireng, where actual sales amounted to only 50% of the target, with a customer adoption rate of 0.19% out of 68,551 customers (August–November 2025). Using PLS-SEM with 100 respondents, the results show that trust is the most dominant factor in driving investment interest (β = 0.666), followed by perceived usefulness (β = 0.216), and investment interest was found to significantly influence purchase decisions (β = 0.265). This model explains 51.9% of the variance in investment interest and 7.0% of the variance in purchase decisions. Theoretically, these findings enrich the integration of the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), and Trust Theory within Islamic microfinance, affirming that trust (amanah) functions as the dominant predictor connecting Sharia-compliant product perception with actual investment participation. Practically, BPR Syariah Lantabur Tebuireng is advised to prioritize trust-building programs by enhancing the role of the Sharia Supervisory Board and ensuring transparent product communication. Further research is recommended to include variables such as religiosity and financial literacy, as well as to expand the sample to various Sharia BPR institutions.
