Abstract

The increasing phenomenon of anxiety and stress, especially among the younger generation, poses a serious challenge in modern life. In this context, da'wah (Islamic preaching) as a medium of spiritual communication plays a crucial role in providing enlightenment and inner peace. This study aims to analyze the da'wah message of Ustadz Agam in the YouTube channel Ismuhu Yahya TV, "Episode of Tranquility." The research focuses on: 1) a description of Ustadz Agam's da'wah message and 2) Ustadz Agam Fachrul's da'wah message about "tranquility" uploaded to the YouTube channel Ismuhu Yahya TV. This research is a library research study with a qualitative approach, using the content analysis method (Harold D. Laswell) to systematically analyze the content of the da'wah message. The results indicate that the structure of the da'wah message consists of three main parts: the introduction, the body, and the conclusion. The messages of da'wah found include: the importance of the power of prayer, appreciating every moment, facing sadness with faith, overcoming sadness and weakness, seeking peace through worship, the importance of prioritizing obedience to Allah and His Messenger, the virtue of the power of istighfar, always relying on Allah SWT in any situation, the importance of prioritizing tawakkul (trust), increasing the capacity of the soul when facing problems, and always being grateful to parents.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze social practices in Ustadz Khalid Basalamah's da'wah movement on the YouTube platform using Anthony Giddens' Social Practice Theory approach. The research method used is qualitative with a library study focus, which involves collecting data from various sources such as journals, books, articles, YouTube and related literature. This research explains social practices in the context of Ustadz Khalid Basalamah's da'wah movement on YouTube, identifying findings that are relevant to Anthony Giddens' Social Practice Theory. A qualitative approach was used to explore the data and understand how the practices of the da'wah movement were reflected in Giddens' theoretical perspective. The results of data analysis will be linked to the concept of Anthony Giddens' Social Practice Theory, so that it can provide a deep understanding of the phenomenon of Ustadz Khalid Basalamah's preaching movement on YouTube. It is hoped that this research can contribute to the theoretical understanding of social practices and the phenomenon of da'wah in the digital era, by connecting empirical findings with the conceptual framework provided by Anthony Giddens.

Abstract

This article to explain the development of social media in the digital era has brought significant benefits, but also presents ethical challenges such as the spread of Hoax es and hate speech. This study aims to examine these phenomena through the lens of the hadiths of Prophet Muhammad to establish normative foundations for ethical social media use. Employing a qualitative approach with the library research method, this study draws on primary data in the form of hadiths related to honesty, prohibition of lying, and communication ethics, as well as secondary data from contemporary literature on digital communication. The analysis is carried out using a descriptive-analytical method with a thematic (maudui’) approach. The findings reveal that hadith values such as the principle of ṣiddiq (truthfulness), prohibition against spreading everything one hears, and the encouragement to speak good or remain silent are highly relevant in addressing the spread of Hoax es and hate speech. These values can be implemented to promote ethical and responsible behavior in social media engagement. The study concludes that the application of hadith teachings offers a constructive solution for shaping a healthy and harmonious digital space, and represents Islam’s contribution to addressing the challenges of contemporary communication.

Abstract

This research aims to identify communications elements in conveying This study aims to identify the elements of communication in the delivery of da’wah at Majelis Taklim Syamsul Huda by employing Edward T. Hall’s (1976) contextual communication theory and Wilbur Schramm’s (1954) communication model. This research adopts a descriptive qualitative approach using a case study method. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews with KH. Ali Mustofa and 15 active congregants, as well as documentation, and were analyzed using Miles and Huberman’s interactive model through the processes of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show, first, that the sender of da’wah messages at Majelis Taklim Syamsul Huda predominantly applies a high-context communication style toward the rural community. Second, the persuasive messages delivered by the sender frequently employ explicit and verbal forms with strong local cultural values. Third, the level of contextuality in the preacher’s messages is also well received when conveyed through a low-context communication model.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the management of news broadcasting programs at Radio Republik Indonesia (RRI) Purwokerto in delivering information to the public. Using a qualitative method with an ethnographic approach, data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. The findings reveal that program management involves theme planning, guest selection, rundown preparation, and presenting news in various formats, such as interactive dialogues, field reports, and talk shows. RRI Purwokerto faces several challenges, including limited human resources and competition from digital media, yet addresses these issues by optimizing digital platforms and improving staff competency. More specifically, the study reveals that the implementation of program management directly contributes to enhancing the quality of public information delivery, making it more factual and easier for audiences to understand.

Abstract

Majelis taklim, As a non-formal Islamic educational institution, the Majelis Taklim (Islamic study group) plays a crucial role in fostering religious community, particularly in the modern era, marked by technological advancements, social dynamics, and changes in the community's lifestyle. This study aims to analyze the opportunities and challenges of Majelis Taklim in the modern era from a sociological perspective, using a case study of the Majelis Manbaul Irvani Walhikmah (Islamic study group) in Serang City. This research method uses a qualitative approach, collecting data through observation and interviews. The results indicate that Majelis Taklim has significant potential to expand the reach of Islamic preaching through digital media, improve the quality of technology-based learning, and strengthen religious social networks among its members. However, in this modern era, Majelis Taklim faces several challenges, including a lack of technological literacy among its members, competition with religious content on social media that is not always credible, and changes in the younger generation's interest in traditional religious activities. From a sociological perspective, Majelis Taklim maintains a strategic position as an agent of social transformation and guardian of religious values, but requires continuous innovation to adapt to the needs of modern society.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the art of da‘wah practiced by Kyai Kuswaidi Syafi’ie through interpersonal communication in the Salawat Muhibbin Program in Karangcempaka Village, Bluto District, Sumenep Regency. The research employs a qualitative analytical method, with data collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis. The theoretical framework draws upon Interpersonal Communication Theory, Symbolic Interactionism, and Empathy Theory in communication. The findings reveal that Kyai Kuswaidi applies four forms of da‘wah artistry. First, empathetic communication that takes into account the psychological conditions of the congregation. Second, interactive and participatory communication that encourages active engagement among congregants. Third, the use of religious humor to create a relaxed atmosphere while conveying moral messages. Fourth, a profound personal approach aimed at fostering emotional closeness with the congregation. These approaches are shown to be effective in enhancing the acceptance of da‘wah messages, strengthening social bonds among congregants, and rendering religious preaching more responsive to the needs of rural communities. Through these communicative arts, Kyai Kuswaidi’s da‘wah serves as a role model for the delivery of religious messages grounded in strong interpersonal communication competence, thereby promoting a more humanistic model of da‘wah.

Abstract

The existence of the Putri Hijab Bali pageant as a space for Muslim women’s empowerment is closely tied to the effectiveness of the persuasive communication carried out by the Hijab Ambassadors. In the multicultural society of Bali, the ability to convey messages appropriately becomes an essential factor in maintaining the pageant’s image and relevance. This study aims to analyze the persuasive communication strategies of the Hijab Ambassadors, the role of credibility in message delivery, and its impact on the social existence of the pageant. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation. The findings indicate that the Hijab Ambassadors utilize a combination of central and peripheral persuasive routes by emphasizing message quality, visual branding, and digital interaction. Credibility, which includes expertise, trustworthiness, and behavioral consistency, proves to enhance audience acceptance of the messages delivered. The impact of persuasive communication is reflected in increased public awareness, strengthened positive imagery of Muslim women in Bali, and greater community participation in pageant activities. Thus, persuasive communication plays a significant role in maintaining the existence of the Putri Hijab Bali pageant through adaptive message strategies and effective use of digital media.

Abstract

The derogatory remark goblok made by Miftah Maulana Habiburrahman, also known as Gus Miftah, directed at Sunhaji, an iced tea seller, during a religious gathering in Magelang on November 20, 2024, sparked controversy from various parties. This study aims to answer the following questions: How was the controversy between Gus Miftah and the iced tea seller constructed in news reports by Kompas.com and Detik.com during the December 1–4 editions How does Norman Fairclough’s discourse analysis apply to the news coverage of this controversy in Kompas.com and Detik.com editions from December 1–4, 2024. This research is a literature study using a qualitative approach. The study employs Norman Fairclough’s discourse analysis method, which includes the dimensions of text, discursive practice, and social practice. The focus of this research is on the textual dimension, which covers aspects of representation, relations, and identity. The results of the study are as follows: The construction of the two news articles from Kompas.com and Detik.com regarding the controversy falls into the category of soft news and overall fulfills the 5W1H elements of news reporting. Based on Norman Fairclough’s discourse analysis, in terms of representation, both Kompas.com and Detik.com show a mix of support and criticism regarding the controversy. In terms of relations, both platforms feature participants who express both pro and contra stances. In terms of identity, Kompas.com tends to maintain a neutral stance, while Detik.com leans toward a critical position against Gus Miftah’s remarks.

Abstract

This study examines how Kelurahan Kerobokan Kaja builds its public image and connection with citizens through digital communication. Although social media is used to share public information, current practices remain predominantly one-way. The study aims to explain how persuasive communication is applied in the kelurahan’s digital public relations and how it contributes to shaping the local government’s image. A qualitative approach was employed through in-depth interviews, observation, and analysis of Instagram content. Thematic coding was used to identify forms of persuasion, message patterns, and government–public interaction dynamics. The findings show that informational content dominates, while persuasive elements and digital interaction remain limited. Message delivery relies heavily on peripheral cues such as visuals, but verbal messages rarely include dialogic invitations. Internal factors also constrain content variety and communication responsiveness. These conditions result in a digital image that is informative but not yet participatory or fully persuasive. The novelty of this study lies in its comprehensive mapping of how persuasion operates at the village administrative level through an in-depth analysis of local government digital PR practices. The study recommends strengthening the public relations role, diversifying content, and improving mechanisms for responsive digital dialogue.
