ABIP adalah Jurnal Agama Buddha dan Ilmu Pengetahuan , yang terbit tiap tahun, merupakan jurnal yang sebelumnya terbit secara intern dalam lingkungan Sekolah Tinggi Agama Buddha Raden Wijaya Wonogiri Jawa Tengah. Dalam periode September 2014 ABIP terbit dalam skala yang lebih luas, menjadi jurnal nasional. Penulisan jurnal dalam edisi September 2014, melingkupi penelitian yang terkait dengan hasil penelitian pengembangan, maupun penelitian penerapan. Penulisan dalam hasil pengembangan khususnya dalam lingkungan agama Buddha, sangat diperlukan, karena masih sangat kurang pengembangan produk-produk baru, yang bersesuaian dengan perkembangan ilmu pengetahuan. Seperti adanya perkembangan kurikulum 2013, maka diperlukan adanya pengembangan lebih lanjut dalam pendidikan Agama Buddha, seperti dalam hal asesmen otentik. Perhatian kepada guru, perlu dilakukan dengan pengembangan penilaian motivasi dan atau kinerjanya. Penulisan penerapan, diperlukan sebagai salah satu mediasi dalam melihat dan mengkaji ulang hal – hal yang menarik dan terdapat pengaruh dalam pengembangan ilmu dan pengetahuan. Para penulis jurnal dalam periode September 2014 meliputi para dosen dalam lingkungan STAB N Raden Wijaya dan Sekolah Tinggi Agama Hindu. Bentuk keterbukaan penulisan dilakukan guna menjamin relevansi dan nilai guna hasil tulisan yang lebih bermutu dan diperlukan bagi masyarakat, serta pengembangan ilmu dan pengetahuan.

Abstract

This study investigates the representation of mental health issues associated with Buddhist meditation in academic literature, emphasizing English and Indonesian sources from a Global South viewpoint. The research employs a systematic literature review, utilizing subscription-based English databases like Scopus and open-access Indonesian platforms, including Google Scholar, accessed through Publish or Perish. This methodology selects 60 pivotal publications for their citation impact, timeliness, and historical importance. The investigation utilizes Visvanathan's Cognitive Justice framework within the Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies to rigorously assess the epistemic inclusivity of knowledge systems.The results indicate three notable insights. Buddhist meditation is universally acknowledged across various sources as a fundamental practice associated with mental health discourse. Secondly, both English and Indonesian texts emphasize the interaction between Buddhism as an Eastern spiritual tradition and Western psychological and psychiatric paradigms. Indonesian sources specifically examine the impact of state hegemony on Buddhist meditation, highlighting its designation as a religion under Indonesia's monotheistic framework. The study highlights the socio-political factors influencing sacred and profane tales in Indonesia, especially with state-imposed religious classifications. This research highlights critical insights into the impact of socio-political processes in the Global South on the relationship between Buddhist meditation and mental health.

Abstract

This study presents a literature review of mindfulness in touch therapy, based on the definition of mindfulness, the key terms that accompany it, and the practices involved. The literature review reveals the proven role of mindfulness in helping to reduce psychological distress inherent in illness condition. This study uses the System Literature Review (SLR) method to analyze previous relevant research on mindfulness in touch therapy. Meta-synthesis was consducted to answer the research question, namely how is the practice of mindfulness in the field of touch therapy practice. The purpose of this SLR study is to gain a deeper understanding of mindfulness in touch therapy; improve understanding through a literature study of five selected studies; thoroughly examine the research and intensity of discussion; and provide evidence that the application of mindfulness is effective in supporting the process of touch therapy.

Abstract

Manusia merupakan makhluk yang kompleks, baik secara emosional, berpikir dan moralitas. Terkadang manusia bersikap baik, naming terkadang bersikap kejam. Manusia memiliki berbagai kesalahan dalam berperilaku, sehingga praktik kearifan lokal yang baik dan ajaran agama yang positif perlu diterapkan. Salah satunya adalah kearifan lokal sungkeman oleh masyarakat desa sindurejo pada saat perayaan hari manggasri. Perayaan manggasri yang dilakukan oleh masyarakat desa Sindurejo dengan kepercayaan Budho Jawi Wisnu dengan berbagai rangkaian kegiatan. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pendekatan deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulan data dengan cara observasi langsung, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Ditemukan fenomena sungkeman pada saat perayaan manggasri dengan konsep sujud bakti, pengakuan kesalahan dan permohonan maaf. Yang kemudian kearifan lokal tersebut dikaji menurut perspektif Agama Buddha.

Abstract

Funerals are one of the activities associated with and embedded in religious practices. In the three major sects of Buddhism, there are several different practices in burying the body, even though they refer to a single teaching or concept of death. This is interesting to discuss, considering that most religions worldwide use the same practice. This study explores how funeral practices are in the Buddhist tradition and what underlies these differences. Qualitative methods are adopted to answer these questions with a literature study approach. As a result, each Buddhist sect shows its uniqueness through reflection on Buddhism in general, which is not fixed on just one rigid teaching. For instance, the Sky funeral within the Vajrayāna tradition provides a perspective that humans are bound to nature. Giving bodies to birds and other animals signifies the strength of their bond. The practice of cremation in Theravāda is a way to release the physical remains left behind in the world. With this method, they can easily continue their next spiritual journey. At the same time, Mahayāna Buddhism describes a flexible perspective on religion and funeral practices. This study also suggests a more specific approach to looking at the complexity of funerals in Buddhism, especially in areas where Buddhism is a minority, such as Indonesia.

Abstract

Academic stress experienced by students is subject to a multitude of psychological and environmental determinants, including but not limited to optimism and social support. The present study endeavors to explore the predictive influences of optimism and social support on academic stress among junior high school students. A cohort of 80 students from junior high schools located in Banyumas, Central Java, Indonesia. was meticulously selected through a purposive sampling method. The participants were required to complete three standardized assessment tools: the Academic Stress Scale, the Optimism Scale, and the Social Support Scale. Each assessment tool underwent validation through content validity (item-total correlation > 0.30) and exhibited commendable reliability, with Cronbach's Alpha coefficients registering at 0.806 for academic stress, 0.791 for optimism, and 0.772 for social support. The data were subjected to analysis via multiple regression techniques, employing a significance threshold of 0.05. The findings indicated that both optimism and social support serve as significant predictors of academic stress levels. In particular, elevated levels of optimism and perceived social support were correlated with diminished academic stress. levels of academic stress. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Kurikulum Merdeka terhadap kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa SMK Buddhi dalam pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Buddha dan Budi Pekerti. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif komparatif dengan desain ex post facto. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMK Buddhi dan siswa kelas XI SMK Ariya Metta, dengan jumlah sampel sebanyak 189 siswa yang terdiri dari dua kelompok: 96 siswa yang mengikuti Kurikulum Merdeka (SMK Buddhi) dan 93 siswa yang mengikuti Kurikulum 2013 (SMK Ariya Metta). Teknik analisis data menggunakan MANOVA untuk menguji pengaruh simultan dua variabel dependen, serta uji univariat untuk menguji pengaruh parsial. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa secara simultan terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan antara jenis kurikulum terhadap kemandirian belajar dan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa (0,000 < 0,05). Namun, secara parsial, hanya kemampuan berpikir kritis yang menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan, sementara kemandirian belajar tidak menunjukkan perbedaan yang signifikan antara kedua kelompok. Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa Kurikulum Merdeka lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa, sedangkan pengembangan kemandirian belajar memerlukan strategi pembelajaran yang lebih mendalam dan berkelanjutan.
