Abstract

This study aims to describe mathematical problem-solving ability based on the level of self-confidence. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study with a quantitative approach. The data collection technique in this research is to provide test (10 multiple choice questions and 2 description questions), questionnaires, and interviews. The results showed that students with high level of self-confidence with high mathematical problem-solving abilities were able to achieve 3 out of 4 indicators of assessing problem solving abilities well, namely indicators of understanding problems, devising a plan, and carrying out the plans. Students with high level of self-confidence with moderate math problem solving abilities are able to achieve 1 of 4 indicators well, namely carrying out the plans, achieve 2 of the 4 indicators quite well, namely indicators of understanding problems and devising a plan, and less able to achieve 1 of 4 indicators namely looking back indicators. Students with high level of self-confidence with low math problem solving abilities are able to achieve 1 of 4 indicators well, namely indicators of understanding the problem. However, it does not reach 3 indicators, namely devising plans, is carrying out the plan and looking back.

Abstract

This study aims to find out the ability to solve math story problems reviewed from the learning style of grade VII students. The type of research used is descriptive research with qualitative approach. The sample class was selected using cluster random sampling techniques and obtained 32 students who were taken 25% of the population, the sample was randomly taken 8 students from each class. The samples obtained were given a study style questionnaire in order to classify the sample into visual, auditorial and kinesthetic learning style categories. The sample that was the subject of the interview and the subject given the test question was selected based on the three categories of study style, which was taken randomly 20% of the sample of each learning style. Students' ability to solve math story problems is reviewed from known learning styles through analysis of students' answers in solving number material story questions and based on interview results. The analysis technique used is descriptive statistical analysis. From the results of the study obtained: The ability to solve math story problems of students with visual learning style, auditory learning and kinesthetic learning is good criteria, less criteria,and less criteria.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effectiveness of the ELPSA (Experiences, Language, Pictorial, Symbols, Application) learning design in terms of the mathematics learning outcomes at VIII grade student of SMPN 1 Utan on the material relations and functions in the academic year 2020/2021. The type of this research is experimental research with posttest only design. The research was conducted in 4 meetings with 3 meetings for the learning process using all ELPSA components and 1 meeting for the implementation of the posttest. The samples were determined by using cluster random sampling technique. The sample is class VIII-1A as an experimental class which is given treatment using the ELPSA learning design. Data collection using observation and test techniques. Instruments include: observation sheets and learning outcomes tests. Learning outcome data is used to find out how far students understand the material being taught and observation data is used to determine the implementation of learning which is analyzed descriptively. Indicators of the effectiveness of the ELPSA learning design, namely if student learning outcomes with a percentage of classical learning completeness of ≥85%. The results showed that there were 14 students who had completed their studies or equal to 87,50% and 2 students who did not complete their studies or 12,50% with an average grade obtained of 82,38. The results of observations of student with active criteria with a percentage of 74% and teacher activities with good criteria with a percentage of 71%.

Abstract

This study is experimental using a post-test-only control design. This study aims to determine the effect of using manipulative object props on the learning outcomes of class VIII students of SMPN 2 Labuapi in the academic years 2018/2019. The sample of this study is class VIII-B as an experimental class, was given treatment with discovery learning models using manipulative object teaching aids with three meetings a learning process and VIII-C control class were given treatment using a direct learning model with three meetings learning process too. The instrument used in this study was a post-test in the form of description questions. Data analysis used polled variance t_test. Based on the research results, it was found that the experimental class 77.96 average value was greater than the control class of 71.03 where t_hit = 5.7 ≥ t_table = 2.0 with α =5%. From these results, there are differences in the learning process between the experimental and control classes. From these differences, it can be concluded that there is an effect of manipulative object props on the mathematics learning process of class VIII students of SMPN 2 Labuapi in academic years 2018/2019

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the mathematics textbook for students grade seven of Junior High School semester 1 of the 2013 curriculum in terms of the material eligibility, the method of delivering the material, and the physical character of the book according to Bell's criteria. Therefore, the type of research used is descriptive research with a qualitative approach. The collecting data uses documentation techniques in form of books and questionnaire techniques in form of questions based on Bell's criteria which have been declared valid and suitable to be used. Data collection was carried out directly where the researcher made face-to-face meetings with the teacher at school. The results obtained show that the suitability of the material to Bell's criteria contributed from CHAPTER I to CHAPTER IV has a percentage of 86.90% with a very good category, the suitability of the material delivery method to Bell's criteria contributed from CHAPTER I to CHAPTER IV has a percentage of 71.43% in the good category and the physical character of the book has a percentage of 81.81% with the very good category.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to obtain a practical Problem Posing type of Post Solution Posing learning tool according to the Mathematics teacher at SMPN 1 Batulayar. This type of research is qualitative research by giving questionnaires and interviews. The subjects in this study were the Mathematics Teachers at SMPN 1 Batulayar. The object of this research is the practicality of the learning tools, namely the Learning Implementation Plan and Student Worksheets with the post solution posing problem posing type model. The instruments used in this study were questionnaires and interviews. The questionnaire made is a structured questionnaire with answers that are not free and has been validated. Interviews were conducted in a structured manner according to understanding. Based on the results of the analysis in this study, it shows that the learning tools for the post solution posing model are very practical and easy to apply.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine the influence of adversity quotient (AQ) on student mathematics learning achievement (MLA) of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Narmada academic year 2019/2020. Population in this study consisted of 379 students and sample of the research is consisted of 80 students which are selected by using the purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this research using questionnaires and test. The instrument of this research using a closed AQ questionnaire consisting of 50 statements and essay of pattern and sequence mathematics number consisting of 4 questions. The data obtained was analyzed using correlation and simple linear regression. Correlation coefficient (r) equal to 0,799, which indicate that relation between AQ on student MLA including was strong category. The contribution of AQ on student MLA, coefficient of determination is 60,684 %. This indicated AQ also affect the student’s MLA of class VIII SMP Negeri 1 Narmada academic year 2019/2020 shown by liniear regression equation in this research is Y=-20,592+0,577X

Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of self-confidence on students’ mathematics learning outcome, the influence of mathematics communication ability on students’ mathematics learning effect, and the influence of self-confidence and mathematics communication ability on students’ mathematics learning outcome of 8th grade SMPN 22 Mataram academic year 2019/2020. This type of research was ex post facto. The sample of this research were 44 students with total sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this reseacrh using questionnaire, test and documentation. The instrument of this research was in the form of a confidence questionnaire, a test of mathematics communication ability, and documentation of students’ mathematics learning outcome of 8th grade SMPN 22 Mataram. From the data analysis obtained, there was no influence of self-confidence on students’ mathematics learning effect of 8th grade SMPN 22 Mataram. Whereas for mathematics communication ability there was found an influence on students’ mathematics learning effect of 8th grade SMPN 22 Mataram with the coefficient of determination of 83.7%. The results of data analysis also showed that there was a significant influence between students' self-confidence and mathematics communication ability on students’ mathematics learning effect of 8th grade SMP 22 Mataram with the coefficient of determination of 83.1%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify the cognitive level of competency test questions in the mathematics textbook for students of 2013 Curriculum for SMP/MTs grade 7th semester 1 reviewed from Revised Bloom Taxonomy. Therefore, this type of research is descriptive research. The data source in this study is the student mathematics textbook 2013 Curriculum Edition 2017 Revision for SMP / MTs grade VII semester 1. While the research variable is the cognitive level of each item of competency test in the 2013 Curriculum student mathematics textbook for SMP/MTs grade 7th semester 1. Data collection was performed by using the documentation and questionnaire methods. The guideline used in the item analysis is the Revised Bloom Taxonomy cognitive level which includes C1-remembering; C2-understand; C3-applying; C4-analyze; C5-evaluate; and C6-creating. The results of this study obtained the percentage of C1 cognitive level of 13.69%; C2 of 23.17%; C3 at 51.57%; C4 of 8.42%; C5 at 1.05% and C6 at 2.11%. It can be concluded that the results of the cognitive level of competency test questions in the mathematics textbook for students of Curriculum 2013 for SMP/MTs grade 7th semester 1 are still low and have not met the balance of the difficulty level of the questions.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of problem-based learning model on student’s mathematical logical thinking abilities and the amount of it. To achieve the goals, this research used post-test only control group design. This research was held in class XI-IPA of SMAN 1 Sekotong and consist of 60 students which divided into two classes. By considering the post-test only control group design which requires a control group and the experimental group, used saturated sampling technique that took the whole population as the sample. The members of the population were all students of class XI-IPA of SMAN 1 Sekotong which divided into two classes XI-IPA 1 and XI-IPA 2. The instruments were used to measure the student’s logical thinking ability consist of four description. The measurement of the logical thinking ability was measured after the implementation of problem-based learning for four times. The level of compliance to the learning model was measured by observation of student and teacher activity sheets. The results of data analysis using t-test showed that problem-based learning have a significant influence on the mathematical logical thinking ability. Those results were showed by the increasing of mathematical logical thinking ability in each meeting. The analysis using the effect-size gave the result of the d value of 1,60 which means the application of problem-based learning have a high influence to the student’s mathematical logical thinking ability.
