Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of financial knowledge and financial behavior on the interest in using Islamic financial technology (fintech) lending, with Sharia compliance as a moderating variable among MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) entrepreneurs in Lhokseumawe City. This is a field research employing a quantitative descriptive approach. The population comprises 6,352 MSME actors in Lhokseumawe, with samples selected through purposive sampling. A total of 144 respondents were included in the sample. Data analysis was conducted using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM). The results indicate that: (1) Financial knowledge and financial behavior have a positive and significant influence on Sharia compliance; (2) Sharia compliance and financial behavior significantly influence the interest in using Islamic fintech, while financial knowledge does not have a direct effect on fintech usage interest; (3) Sharia compliance fully mediates the relationship between financial knowledge and fint ech usage interest, and partially mediates the relationship between financial behavior and fintech usage interest. These findings highlight the importance of adherence to Sharia principles as a key factor influencing the interest of entrepreneurs in adopting Sharia-based fintech services.

Abstract

The Islamic banking sector is pivotal in fostering an economy aligned with Islamic principles, yet conventional performance metrics often fail to capture Sharia compliance comprehensively. This study employs the Islamicity Performance Index (IPI) to evaluate the financial performance of Islamic banks in Indonesia, integrating financial and ethical dimensions. The research addresses the question: How does the financial performance of Islamic banking in Indonesia align with the IPI? Using a qualitative descriptive approach, the study analyses three purposively sampled banks—Bank Muamalat Indonesia, Bank BCA Syariah, and Bank Syariah Indonesia—over the period 2021–2023. The IPI framework assesses five key indicators: Profit Sharing Ratio, Zakat Performance Ratio, Equitable Distribution Ratio, Directors-Employee Welfare Ratio, and Islamic Investment vs. Non-Islamic Investment. Findings reveal that these banks demonstrate a commitment to aligning operations with Islamic principles, particularly in maintaining 100% Sharia-compliant investments. However, challenges persist, including low zakat contributions, significant welfare disparities between directors and employees, and limited adoption of profit-sharing financing models. These findings underscore the need for Islamic banks to enhance strategic initiatives that prioritize equitable economic development and substantive Sharia compliance, beyond mere formal adherence. Recommendations include strengthening profit-sharing mechanisms and improving zakat and welfare distribution to align with the broader objectives of Islamic economics.

Abstract

The coaching approach in academic supervision offers a new paradigm that is more collaborative and constructive, in which supervisors act as partners who accompany teachers in developing their professional potential. The concept of student welfare encompasses various dimensions of student welfare, including physical, psychological, social, and academic aspects. Student welfare is important because it correlates positively with academic achievement, social adaptation, and character development. This thesis is designed to conduct research on the implementation of coaching- based academic supervision in realizing student well-being and the obstacles faced by the Madrasah Principal in implementing coaching-based academic supervision at MAS Ulumuddin. This research is qualitative research with a descriptive analysis approach. The primary data sources in this study are the Madrasah Principal, teachers, and students. Secondary data sources include academic supervision records, supervision schedules, and supporting documents. The research results are as follows: 1) The implementation of coaching-based academic supervision at MAS Ulumuddin is carried out systematically through the stages of planning, implementation, evaluation, and follow-up. This approach emphasizes partnership between the school principal and teachers in a reflective and collaborative environment, thereby enhancing teachers' professional competencies. This supervision significantly contributes to improving student well-being through responsive, participatory, and student-centered learning. 2) Challenges faced by the principal in implementing coaching-based academic supervision at MAS Ulumuddin include limited supervision time, resistance from some teachers to a reflective culture, limited understanding of the independent curriculum among teachers, and inadequate learning resources such as projectors. Despite this, the principal demonstrated commitment through follow-up actions such as training, mentoring, providing resources, and routine monitoring.
