Abstract

Objective: The application of an ethnomathematics-based student worksheet can be associated with Surya Majapahit's cultural heritage in the material of the elements of a circle. The purpose of this study is to describe the application of Surya Majapahit ethnomathematics-based worksheet as a mathematics learning resource, in addition to knowing the perceptions of teachers and students on the results of the application of Surya Majapahit ethnomathematics-based student worksheet carried out, as well as knowing the effect of applying Surya Majapahit ethnomathematics-based student worksheet in building students' creative thinking skills through the evaluation stage Method: This research uses descriptive qualitative research. This study's research subjects were 6th-grade students of Lengkong II Public School, Mojokerto Regency. Results: The results of data analysis through material validation in this study show that geometry concepts and values in Surya Majapahit ethnomathematics are seen through values and patterns in each period of government and culture that entered the archipelago. Student learning outcomes show "complete" above the criteria for achieving learning objectives. The results showed an average summative evaluation of 90 and a formative of 92.8, so students can optimize creative thinking skills on local wisdom content with geometry material elements. Novelty: The research innovatively incorporates ethnomathematics, precisely the "Surya Majapahit" Circle elements, into elementary school mathematics learning. This cultural integration can enhance students' engagement and understanding of mathematical concepts. The study seeks to foster a more imaginative and innovative approach to creative problem-solving using ethnomathematics and engaging activities.

Abstract

Objective: This research aims to determine the role of multiplayer online educational games in enhancing students' critical thinking skills. Method: This study utilizes a systematic review method guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) approach. A comprehensive search was conducted using Scopus, PubMed, and Web of Science (WoS) databases, identifying studies that focused on multiplayer online educational games and their impact on critical thinking skills. Out of 910 studies identified, 20 met the inclusion criteria after a rigorous screening. Results: The results indicate a positive association between multiplayer educational games and enhancing critical thinking skills across various educational settings. Key aspects extracted include game design, educational context, participant demographics, and methodologies for assessing critical thinking outcomes. However, variability in game designs and measurement tools highlights a need for standardized assessment approaches in future research. Novelty: This review underscores the evolving potential of multiplayer online educational games as innovative tools for developing critical thinking skills. With the increasing integration of digital technologies in education, this study sheds light on how game-based learning can address 21st-century educational needs by fostering essential cognitive skills.

Abstract

Objective: The study's primary purpose is to investigate the effect of a Student-Centered Teaching Approach on Student's Academic Performance in Mathematics at the Secondary Level. Method: The study was carried out using the quasi-experiment method. In this study, convenient sampling was used to select secondary schools and select students for intervention. This study used a few instrumentations, such as a mathematics test, which was used for pre-and posttests. Results: The analysis data in the posttest reveal an increase in mean, mode, and median scores after implementing a student-centered approach toward the experimental group. This study proves that the effectiveness of a student-centered teaching approach positively impacts students' academic performance in mathematics. The rejection of the null hypothesis suggests that the student-centered approach led to a statistically significant improvement in students' scores compared to the teacher-centered approach. Novelty: This contributes valuable insights to educational practices, advocating for adopting student-centered methods in mathematics instruction. This study proved the effectiveness of the Student-Centered Teaching Approach on students's Academic Performance in Mathematics at the Secondary Level.

Abstract

Objective: This study examines (a) the role of stakeholders in realizing innovation in building digital literacy programs in Gresik Regency, (b) stakeholder efforts in fostering digital literacy awareness, and (c) stakeholder challenges to realizing innovation in building digital literacy programs for suburban communities. Method: The research uses a qualitative approach with grounded theoretical research. The research was conducted in five villages in Gresik Regency, and the research subjects amounted to 40 informants. Data collection uses in-depth interviews, participant observations, and document studies. The analysis of lepangan data uses two methods: (a) an interactive data analysis model and (b) an analysis of the coding process and conclusion. Results: 1) The role of stakeholders in realizing innovation in building digital literacy programs in Gresik Regency starts from village elements and community leaders to become initiators and active participants to villagers in carrying out digital literacy program implementation activities; 2) Stakeholder participation is quite diverse, which is influenced by care, funds, and responsible persons, while the implementation of E-commerce platforms in the local community is very effective and the competition is open; 3) Facing several challenges, especially in terms of digital literacy, limited facilities and concern of the local community. Novelty: This research combines strategies to generate innovations in various aspects of digital literacy awareness. The critical role of an effective leader is to promote and implement digital education, as well as stakeholders to strengthen literacy education in the current digital era.

Abstract

Objective: Meaningful work is an essential aspect of teachers that can be influential in improving the quality of education; therefore, this study aimed to identify antecedent factors and determinants of meaningful work in teachers. Method: This study used a systematic literature review to examine the variables that can be antecedents and determinants of meaningful work. Results: Based on the literature studies that have been conducted, it is known that variables such as calling orientation, work role fit, workplace attachment, coworker relations, job design, altruistic behavior, authentic leadership, job crafting, and perceptions of organizational identification can be antecedent factors of meaningful work of teachers. Meaningful work can determine variables such as work attitude, teacher-student relationships, work engagement, burnout, resilience, self-rated health, intention to leave, corrosion at the character level, and organizational commitment. Novelty: This study thoroughly examines the antecedents and determinants of teachers' meaningful work variables, which, other yet to behave, need to be more widely researched.

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to analyze the science literacy competency profile of science education students in understanding thermodynamics concepts at the State University of Surabaya, with a specific focus on identifying competency levels and gender differences in science literacy achievement. Method: A quantitative descriptive research was conducted involving 35 students from Science Education Class B, selected through random sampling. Data collection was conducted using a science literacy test instrument adapted from the 2025 PISA framwork, consisting of 15 questions (10 multiple choice and 5 essay question) designed to measure three primary science compenties. Results: The analysis revealed that 51.42% of students achieved a proficient level, 28.58% reached an advanced level, and 20% were at a basic level. Students showed the highest competency in explaining scientific phenomena (74.4%), followed by constructing and evaluating scientific investigations (65.7%), and lowest in research and scientific information used for decision-making (60.6%). Female students exhibited slightly better performance, with a 4-point advantage over their male counterparts. Novelty: This study provides a detailed analysis of science literacy competencies in understanding thermodynamics among pre-service science teacher. It also incorporates the lates 2025 PISA framework and highlights gender-based performance differences. The findings provide valuable insights for developing targeted interventions in science teacher education programs, particularly in strengthening evidence-based decision-making skills and practical applications of thermodynamics concepts.
