Abstract

Special education (SPED) learners often struggle in learning due to the curriculum and limited resources despite the awareness of the value of education globally. In the Philippines, inclusive education for all learners, especially for learners with special needs has yet to be delved deeper, hence, this study provides an exploration of the lived experiences of SPED teachers using skill-based learning to understand their perspectives of the participants on how this learning approach can help SPED learners acquire the skills needed for independence. Husserl’s descriptive phenomenological research design was used to describe the meaning of the lived experiences of the five SPED teachers using skill-based learning from Cebu City, Philippines. A semi-structured interview schedule served as the primary data collection instrument, supplemented by a focus group discussion to ensure data saturation. Colaizzi’s method of descriptive analysis was used to analyze the transcriptions, identifying key experiences, challenges, coping mechanisms, and meanings of teaching skill-based learning to SPED learners. Four major themes emerged from the analysis: Fulfillment in Teaching; Limited Resources, Parental Involvement, and Adjustment; Planning, Preparation, and Communication; and Emphasis on Practical Skills. Despite challenges, teaching SPED students could be fulfilling with passion and perseverance. The researchers recommend advocating for increased funding and programs to support SPED teachers in effectively implementing skill-based learning.

Abstract

This research focused on the challenges and coping mechanisms of Non-Social Studies major teachers assigned to teach Araling Panlipunan in Bulacan, Philippines. This, therefore, makes the pressing call for comprehensive content knowledge, effective assessment strategies, collaborative approaches to teaching, and continuous professional development in order to fill the gap in expertise in teaching Philippine history, culture, and society. Key findings revealed that teachers belonging to the Non-Social Studies major often experience problems in their teaching brought about by insufficient subject-specific knowledge, which consequently affects their confidence and accuracy in content delivery. In this regard, it is proposed in the study a program on "Capacitating the Competence of the Non-Social Studies Major Teachers." This program seeks to enhance teaching competencies with focused interventions that equip teachers with necessary competencies and knowledge. These recommendations include a vertical professional learning community, teaching aids bank, and focused seminars and training programs. The study reinforces continuous learning and institutional support as ways to educational excellence and calls for future research into th impact of advanced degrees on teaching effectiveness.

Abstract

This research explores the influence of the Certified Public Accountant Licensure Examination (CPALE) on the attitudes and readiness of accountancy students, aiming to improve program outcomes and board examination results. The study surveyed predominantly female respondents aged 19-29, with a monthly family income below 9,520 and a general weighted average ranging from 2.34 to 1.66. Key findings indicate that CPALE significantly affects students' interest and commitment to the program, particularly in enhancing time management skills and study dedication. While demographic factors such as age, gender, family income, and academic performance showed minor program perceptions and preparedness variations, no statistically significant impact was observed. Moreover, a positive correlation was identified between program choice, preparation, and academic practices like group study and practice testing. These findings will help to develop evidence-based techniques and interventions to help students prepare for CPALE, improve their study habits, and increase their overall success rates. Recommendations include involving first and second-year students in future studies, organizing initiatives to boost male enrollment, and promoting comprehensive training and mock exams. Workshops focusing on study habits, time management, and personality development are proposed to enhance student readiness. These findings emphasize the importance of inclusive educational strategies to support all students, regardless of socioeconomic background, and suggest a need for tailored approaches in program design to optimize student preparation and success in the accountancy field.

Abstract

The goal of this study is to determine the sources of drinking water and identify ailments among the respondents that are related to water consumption. The study was undertaken to ascertain the sources of drinking water used and its impact on health on Capual Island. The research will also determine whether the respondents' water-related illnesses are significantly impacted by their sources of drinking water. Residents of Capual Island will gain knowledge about local sources of drinking water and illnesses associated with water from the study. Male and female respondents from 287 households were polled. Regarding the data analysis and interpretation, a statistician was consulted. Frequency tables were used to present the data. For the study, the researchers utilized a descriptive-predictive research methodology. The entire population of Barangay Capual had been used by the researchers. The Rural Health Unit-Omar can help communities improve their drinking water by educating them on proper cleaning of their sources of drinking water, installing covers on their deep wells, making sure there are no animals in their water sources, and sanitizing their drinking water. Typhoid fever and diarrhea were the most common water-related diseases among respondents, topping the survey with 84.7% and 85.0%, respectively. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree should provide lectures on waterborne illnesses and inform residents of additional methods for sanitizing their drinking water. It is important to inform the people of Barangay Capual that their homes should have backup water sources. Additionally, according to the experts, filtering and boiling the drinking water before use is important and will lower the risk of contracting waterborne illnesses and their fatal consequences. Future researchers may use it as a backbone for further study by taking on other variables that were not tested in this study.

Abstract

This descriptive or Husserlian phenomenological study explored the lived experiences of the human resource management managers and supervisors among the selected hotels in Mandaue and Cebu cities. It also presented the meaning or the essence of the said lived experiences. These became the feeders for proposals for improvement. Using purposive sampling, ten (10) key informants who are managers in different hotels were selected as the source of information. The findings indicated that the human resources management components in planning, recruitment, maintenance development, and research were practiced with the guidance of HRM objectives. Moreover, some factors facilitated improving HR practices focused on managing human energy and capabilities to improve productivity. Further, there are challenges encountered by the organization that need to be addressed, for if unabated, it will have negative consequences. All the preceding became the basis for the crafting of recommendations for improvement. It was reflected that while the data generally lean toward the positive side, there is still room for further improvement. These opportunities for improvement are the take-off points for management to craft programs to further the practice of human resources management

Abstract

This study aimed to identify the areas where proficient teachers struggle the most and the areas where they feel confident regarding influence in decision-making, instructional, disciplinary, parental involvement, community involvement, and a positive school climate. A mixed-method of sequential explanatory design was utilized, involving 70 secondary high school teachers in the Cluster I Schools Division of Pampanga. The study’s findings demonstrated that teachers are more comfortable and feel more competent and confident in areas like instruction and a positive school climate, where they have more direct control over the conduct and learning of their students. On the other hand, the respondents seemed to be reasonably confident in their ability to influence decisions made within the educational institution. This could be due to several factors, including their experience, relationships with other staff members, or participation in committees that make decisions for the organization. The study highlighted the importance of maintaining collaboration and support among educators, administrators, and the entire school community to foster an environment that values ongoing learning and effective teaching strategies. Lastly, this study emphasized how important teacher self-efficacy is in determining effective teaching practices, especially for experienced teachers. It also emphasized the importance of recognizing and providing targeted support for teachers' strengths to build their confidence and ultimately improve student achievement. The research suggests that schools should give priority to programs that increase teacher self-efficacy through mentorship programs, targeted professional development, and building a supportive school culture. These efforts will ultimately increase instructional effectiveness and improve the teachers’ overall confidence in teaching.
