Abstract

Customer relationship management, or CRM, has become a crucial component that affects how well businesses, particularly accounting outsourcing organizations, function globally. This study addresses the gap in literature regarding the influence of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) practices on the business performance of accounting outsourcing firms. This study aims to have a systematic literature review on Customer Relationship Management practices as determinants of Business Performance. Moreover, this study employed a systematic literature review to examine the CRM practice and Business Performance of accounting outsourcing firms. This study draws on 10 studies published within year 2020 to 2025. The literature review highlights the need to further explore the connection between CRM practices and the commercial performance of accounting outsourcing companies. To give practitioners useful information, the study looks at the relationship between CRM dimensions such as customer engagement, client retention, and service customization and financial and non-financial performance.  In conclusion, the main findings reveal that CRM dimensions are critical to improving both financial and non-financial performance, particularly for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study's implications suggest that accounting outsourcing firms can enhance competitiveness by integrating advanced CRM strategies and leveraging data-driven insights to build stronger client relationships and respond more effectively to evolving client needs.

Abstract

Students face challenges in maintaining attention span, potentially influenced by technology and multitasking habits demanded by the current school environment. Attention is the cognitive process that enables individuals to focus their senses on a specific stimulus, identify its characteristics, and extract meaningful information. This process is crucial in examining human behavior, as it impacts task performance, social interactions, and overall well-being. With the vast amount of information available on the internet, it has become increasingly challenging to navigate and generalize individual attention spans, especially in local contexts. Moreover, there are only a few studies regarding attention span among undergraduate students across year levels. This study employed a quantitative method, specifically a comparative design, to assess Filipino undergraduate students' capacity to sustain attention across different year levels at a private university in Pampanga, Philippines. The researchers employed a Kruskal-Wallis test to analyze data collected from 280 undergraduate students recruited through a quota-sampling technique. Findings revealed that there is no significant difference (p = 0.14) in the attention span of undergraduate students, leading to the conclusion that year level does not determine the attentional capacity of students. The findings emphasized the need for inclusive and adaptive teaching strategies that equally cater to all year levels. Furthermore, supporting students’ cognitive health across all stages of higher education, regardless of year level, promotes sustained academic performance and mental well-being.

Abstract

Creativity shapes how individuals solve problems, express themselves, and innovate. How individuals view creativity is vital as it shapes how they adapt, solve problems, and thrive in everyday situations. This study explored the creative self-concept of Millennials and Generation Z in Central Luzon, Philippines. Creative self-concept encompasses both creative self-efficacy and creative personal identity, referring to how individuals perceive their creativity. While generational differences in values and skills are widely studied, little is known about how Filipino Millennials and Generation Z perceive their creativity. Using a cross-sectional survey method, information was gathered from 300 respondents, evenly split between their generation group. The independent sample t-test revealed that there is no significant difference in creative self-concept between the participants’ generations (p = 0.19). Similarly, a non-significant result was also observed between respondents’ geographical locations (p = 0.12). However, results from ANOVA revealed that people with more schooling (F = 7.94, p < 0.001) had more creative ideas about themselves compared to those who had lower educational attainment. These results showed that educational experiences may have a bigger effect on how people think about creativity than their generational group or where they live. The study highlights the importance of incorporating activities that foster imagination in schools, enabling students of all ages to generate new ideas and feel confident in their abilities.

Abstract

Across the linguistically diverse ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member states, English has been acknowledged as the sole official working language. It serves as a unifying medium in business, diplomacy, and education. This study explores emerging assessment practices and methodologies in English language teaching within the regional context over the last five years, considering Kachru’s 3 Concentric Circles Model of the English Language.  Using databases and following the PRISMA flow, the selected articles were verified by the three experts in English language teaching.  A total of 12 published articles met the eligibility criteria: four from Malaysia, four from the Philippines, and four from Indonesia. With Braun and Clarke’s thematic analysis steps, key factors influencing English language assessment were identified from the validated studies: benchmarking, learner autonomy, ICT integration, upskilling, and preparation for workforce demand. Based on these insights, the meth-synthesis proposes a new framework aimed at addressing the identified challenges.  The findings of this study have significant implications for enhancing the quality of English language assessment across ASEAN countries.

Abstract

Barrier properties, antimicrobial susceptibility potential, and biodegradability of bioplastics are critical indicators of bioplastic viability in industrial use, especially when raw materials to the production were sourced from food waste, such as waste cassava peel starch and shrimp shell chitosan. This study aims to investigate these properties from the created bioplastic film primarily consisting of cassava peel starch (CPS) and shrimp shell chitosan (SSCHT), with sorbitol (SOR) as a plasticizer, utilizing green methods and a constrained D-optimal mixture design. Films were assessed via water uptake, water vapor transmission rate, morphology, antimicrobial susceptibility, and biodegradability. Models were generated in terms of water uptake (p = 0.0684) and water vapor transmission rate (p = 0.0013). CPS (p = 0.0008) had a significant effect on water uptake levels due to its hydroxyl groups, which form hydrogen bonds that retain water. On the other hand, water vapor transmission rate was significantly affected by CPS (p = 0.0001) and SOR (p = 0.0001). Although SSCHT (p = 0.0787) was statistically insignificant its acetyl group reduced the hydrophilic nature of CPS. CPS and SOR were found to positively affect weight loss through biodegradation due to increased hydrophilicity and microbial colonization. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) at 300x magnification revealed visibly smooth morphology of films, while at 1500x and 6500x magnification the films had visible crevices possibly due to greater SSCHT concentrations lower WVTR, and higher CPS concentrations raising water absorption levels.

Abstract

The importance of effective teaching in education is undeniable, as it directly impacts student learning outcomes. This study focused on assessing the teaching competencies of provisional Senior High School teachers and their relationship to teaching performance. This study utilized a descriptive- correlational research design and a quantitative method to examine 109 provisional teachers from 16 public secondary schools in Zone 2, Schools Division of Zambales, using a total population sampling technique. A three-part survey questionnaire was used to collect data on demographic profiles, performance ratings, and teaching competence levels during the fourth quarter of the 2023–2024 school year. Inferential analysis used Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) to test for significant differences between competencies and teacher profiles, and Pearson-r correlation to identify relationships between competencies and performance levels. The study found that 94.5% of teachers had an outstanding performance rating. While they showed competence in communication and classroom management, there was a need for development in subject matter mastery, instructional, and assessment skills. The data revealed that 54.13% of teachers had 0-5 years of experience, and 67.89% lacked national certificates. A significant finding was that attending relevant seminars and workshops significantly impacts subject matter mastery. There was a slight, but not statistically significant, relationship (r = 0.121) between teaching competency and performance evaluations. The study recommends implementing a proposed action plan to address competency gaps and suggests future research compare different professional development models to find the most effective approach.

Abstract

This literature review aims to highlight the developments and future directions in the use of nanocellulose and phycocyanin as electrospinning additives for biomedical applications, specifically in wound healing. Nanocellulose, a cellulose derivative known for its surface area, mechanical strength, and biocompatibility, is proposed as a sustainable alternative to enhancers of mechanical properties. Phycocyanin, a blue pigment from cyanobacteria, possesses anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties, which may potentially enhance the performance of nanocellulose. The combination of the two components in electrospun fibers demonstrates significant promise for effective wound healing applications. However, progress is limited by the scarcity of experimental studies integrating both materials. One of the future directions of the study is improving the stability and shelf-life of phycocyanin within nanofibers, including approaches such as encapsulation and protective coatings. Scaling and manufacturing challenges, including high energy consumption and harsh chemical treatments in nanocellulose extraction, as well as the parameters of electrospinning, need to be addressed to enable mainstream commercialization. Further exploration of sustainable and purely physical extraction methods for nanocellulose is also critical for environmentally friendly alternatives to process scale-up and intensification.

Abstract

Given the low ranking of Filipino children in reading, science, and mathematics at the latest 2022 Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), and the lack of empirical evidence about multimodal instruction of teachers and the development of soft skills of students, this mixed methods study looked into the transformative impact of multimodal instruction on the development of soft skills of students such as communication, flexibility, and leadership. It will also track the influence of soft skills on student outcomes such as employability, academic success, and personal growth. Survey questionnaires were used to effectively assess and monitor the data given by the respondents and a five-point Likert Scale was utilized to establish a clear conclusion of the variables. Semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions were conducted to reassure the quantitative findings. Results of the descriptive statistics showed that all of the variables met the highest mean, strongly agreeing with statements from each variable and was further reinforced by the qualitative analysis from the respondents. Moreover, it was found out that pre-service teachers prefer to use videos and animations, as their main multimodal instruction, to illustrate complex concepts visually. Next is incorporating visual diagrams, mind influence maps, or conceptual maps, and third but not least, applying hands-on activities and experiments for tactile learners. Thus, it concludes that multimodal instruction paves the path for attaining soft skills and that soft skills highly influence student outcomes.

Abstract

This mixed-method study compared the efficacy of Pomodoro and Flowtime study techniques as described by students in a state university. Quantitative data were gathered from 108 respondents, while the qualitative data were supplied by 12 participants through a virtual interview. Results revealed that the majority of the respondents preferred the Pomodoro technique for its structured intervals, stress-reducing breaks, and productivity tracking, with its rigid scheduling noted as a limitation; a minority favored the Flowtime technique for its immersive focus and task engagement, yet less effectiveness when motivation was low. Quantitative data support that the Pomodoro technique is more effective than the Flowtime technique in terms of memory retention, academic performance, and time management. Conversely, Pomodoro is less effective in terms of focus, flexibility, and motivation. Qualitative analysis, however, revealed that the Pomodoro technique is effective in structured environments, especially for those who need uninterrupted focus, even if the Flowtime technique proves its efficacy for deep work and creativity, except in less controlled environments.

Abstract

The study involved 33 purposively selected PCG K9 Dog Handlers and aimed to examine the necessary skills and personality traits (O.C.E.A.N.) that contributed to success in their field. It used a mixed-method design, collecting both quantitative and qualitative data concurrently through a validated research instrument. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, ranking, independent t-test, and one-way ANOVA, while qualitative data were examined through coding and thematic analysis. Findings revealed that the top 10 skills commonly demonstrated by successful K9 handlers included: understanding canine behavior; conditioning dogs for basic obedience; emotional and psychological preparedness; skills in demonstrating fundamental dog handling techniques; nonverbal communication (gestures, expressions, body language); teamwork and interpersonal communication; responsible canine handling; physical stamina and agility; situational awareness in canine handling; and trust in the dog’s natural indications. In terms of personality traits, results showed a moderate manifestation of Openness to Experience, high manifestation of Conscientiousness, moderate manifestations of both Extraversion and Agreeableness, and low manifestation of Neuroticism. Additionally, handlers were intrinsically motivated by their emotional attachment to dogs, their skills in managing difficult dogs, knowledge of canine characteristics, trust in dogs’ natural inclination, and a strong sense of purpose in promoting public safety and the welfare of the community. Finally, the study emphasized the need to integrate personality development in training programs. Key recommendations included the adoption of a proposed K9 Dog Handler Recruitment and Training Framework, creation of a K9 Reserve Unit, support for further education, and conducting broader longitudinal studies.
