Abstract

This study delves into the crucial theme of enhancing income-generating capacity, recognizing its pivotal role in meeting basic human needs and catalyzing prosperity within communities. The motivation behind this research lies in addressing this significant issue through the lens of microfinancing, a viable solution to the identified problem. Focusing on a group of microfinancing units strategically located in North Cotabato, Philippines, this study follows the experiences of personnel within these units. The integration of digitization into their operational procedures aimed to elevate service efficiency, providing a contemporary solution to the challenges faced. The research methodology employed was qualitative, utilizing purposive sampling to gain in-depth insights. Observations, interviews, and informal conversations with key informants, including loan officers, branch managers, and an area monitor, were integral to the inquiry. Both physical and electronic documents played a crucial role in enriching the data collected. Specifically, the study aimed to identify both digitized and non-digitized operational procedures, elucidate the experiences of microfinancing employees concerning these procedures, observe the effects of digitization, and pinpoint immediate improvements resulting from digitization. Key conclusions emerged from the study. Notably, loan processing was identified as the sole procedure yet to undergo digitization. The digitized procedures, encompassing data management, loan disbursement, repayment tracking, and financial reporting, demonstrated notable advantages, characterized by increased speed and reduced errors. Importantly, personnel satisfaction with digitized operational procedures witnessed a positive upturn. Identified improvements that underscore these findings include digitizing loan processing, optimization of loan officers' client-handling capacity, and fortifying institutional data security.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the relationship between service quality and consumer satisfaction with the intention to choose a hospital again. The hypothesis in this research is that there is a relationship between service quality and consumer satisfaction with the intention to choose a hospital again. The subjects of this research were 104 respondents who had used hospital services. Data was obtained using the intention to choose hospital return scale, service quality scale and patient satisfaction scale. The results of this study show that there is a positive relationship between service quality and consumer satisfaction with the intention to choose a hospital again (ρ < 0.05). This means that the higher the quality of service and customer satisfaction, the higher their intention to reuse the hospital's services.

Abstract

As students opted for modular distance learning during the pandemic, they were forced to self-regulated learning with little assistance from teachers. Video lectures are materials commonly designed for active learning methods in distance learning. However, studies found that the length of videos has a strong influence on students’ control over their learning. Longer videos have issues sustaining students’ focused attention to content. This study aimed to develop, validate and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of micro-lecture videos in Physics. Using the developmental research design anchored on the ADDIE model, 7 videos were developed. Videos were quality assured and administered to grade 7 students for evaluation, and feedbacking. Using a developed instrument, an LRMDS standard evaluation tool from the Department of Education, and thematic analysis, quality assurance results, test scores, and interview transcripts were gathered and analyzed statistically and thematically. Results show that despite limited engagement, video lectures are vital so students are guided to self–regulate their learning at their own pace. They also brought positive outcomes, particularly on ownership of learning where students manage and control the pace of their video view, allowing them to replay anytime. On the quality of materials, micro-lecture videos have relevant, logically arranged information, with appropriate content and language that are free of bias. They also have a well-defined purpose, are content-friendly, and can engage viewers for a better understanding of concepts. Moreover, end-users responded that the material was easy to use, can be viewed in messenger, and can be downloaded anytime since it has a smaller file size.

Abstract

This quantitative research utilizing the descriptive-survey design assessed the on-the-job training performance of the Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) students. Ninety-four students have completed their on-the-job training in school year 2017-2018 and have participated in the study. The data were collected using a survey questionnaire and descriptively treated using frequency, percentage, and weighted mean. In addition, the qualitative part of the post-evaluation survey form was treated using thematic analysis. The study revealed the following: the partner-company organization is related to the student’s specialization as they utilized IT-based software and assigned tasks related to information technology. Student trainees were able to develop their communication skills while mobile application development skills were identified as the least. OJT students also identified Professional Ethics and Values Education for IT, Multimedia Systems, Operating Systems as well as Oral Communication, Fundamentals of Grammar, and Presentation Skills and Technical Writing as the most relevant subject courses; and they perceived doing work not related to information technology, extended OJT, overtime, and certain provision of existing manual as problems. The researchers concluded that the BSIT Internship manual when implemented can effectively improve their field work performance

Abstract

Upon entering senior high school, students choose a career track. School counselors/designates through the career guidance advocacy activities play a vital role in student’s readiness for related career decision. With this, the study determined the extent of implementation of the Career Guidance Advocacy Program and its relation to the actual career choice of the Senior High School students. A descriptive correlational research design using documentary data was utilized and conducted in 60 selected public secondary schools in the Division of Bohol which involved 1,200 Grade 11&12 students enrolled in school year 2019-2020; with 60 guidance counselors/designates and 60 homeroom advisers. The instrument used were adapted and modified by the researcher based on the guidelines stipulated in Enhance Basic Education Act of 2013; DepEd Order No. 41, series of 2015, and Developing for National Standard for School Counseling in the Philippines questionnaire by Clemeña 2010. The result showed that educational qualification, job description, years of experience, lack of training and resources and time constrained affect the conduct of the career guidance activities. For the actual choice of the students, the majority were not able to follow the NCAE result due to a lot of intervening factors. The test of correlation revealed that the career guidance activities did not directly relate with the choices of the students. Hence, areas for enhancement of the career guidance advocacy program were put forward.

Abstract

Stakeholders were an important element in any institution, especially in the educational arena. It was composed of teachers, guardians, students, and local government units who play meaningful roles in achievinga quality education, affordable education, school performance as well as resources. This study aimed to assess the awareness level of internal and external stakeholders’ participation in the implementation of sustainable school programs and projects, input to effective stakeholders’ management. This paper used descriptive-correlational research designed. There were 1,198 respondents, were female, high school level, age 11-15 years old, and occupation belong to stay at home parent, unemployed, students, retired. Stakeholders perceived the level of awareness was “moderate” while they “agreed” with stakeholders’ management plan and “much effective” on the implementation of sustainable school programs and projects. This study revealed that there is a significant relationship between the awareness level of both internal and external stakeholders’ participation as well as the stakeholders’ management plan to the sustainability of school programs and projects. There is a significant difference between the awareness level of internal and external stakeholders’ participation and their perceived level of implementation to sustain the school programs and projects. The stakeholders’ management plan also predict that it has a significant effect on the awareness of stakeholders’ participation and the sustainability of school programs and projects.

Abstract

The study sought to determine the effects of different levels of concentrations of bio-stimulant solution (BSS) in inducing the growth, flower, and yield of mung bean. The study was conducted at UNO-R School of Agriculture, Philippines last February to April 2022. Pag-asa 3 variety was used as planting material. The study was laid out in RCBD) with four treatments and replicated 4 times. The BSS was diluted in water and applied 6 inches from the base of the plant as per research protocol. Statistical analysis revealed highly significant differences among treatments in growth parameters such as plant height and leaf area index (LAI) at 35DAS. Likewise, there was high significant difference among treatments on the days to 50% flowering of the plant. Furthermore, results showed highly significant differences among treatments in the number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, number of seeds per pod, 100 seed weight, and yield of mung bean. For the highest plant height, LAI, and period of flowering they were obtained from plants applied with 150ml BSS, followed by 100ml BSS, and 50ml BSS. On the other hand, untreated plants have the shortest height, narrower leaves, and late in flower initiation. Mung bean pods per plant were great in number, heavier in weight from plants treated with 150ml BSS among the other treatments, the most number of seeds per pod, and the heaviest per 100-seed weight as well as the highest seed yield per hectare. This study recommends the use of 150ml BSS in inducing the growth and higher yield of mung bean plant production.

This study investigated the quality management systems of select real estate firms focusing on the following areas: Customer Focus, Leadership, Involvement of People, Process Approach, Continual Improvement, Factual Approach to Decision Making and Mutually Beneficial Supplier Relationship. Abstract

This study examined and aimed to promote students’ level of conceptual understanding in problem-solving through Directive Teacher Guidance (DTG) and the Non-directive Teaching Model (NDTM). The study employed sequential-explanatory mixed research using quasi-experimental switching replication treatment involving quantitative and qualitative data. Two groups of Grade 8 high school students were used as participants in the study. One group had 36 students, and the other had 38 students exposed to DTG and NDTM approaches. Quantitative data were obtained from the scores of students from the pretest, first posttest, and second posttest about the topics in Mathematics subject. Qualitative data were from the analysis of participants’ responses in problem-solving, focus group discussion, and classroom observation. The t-test for the dependent sample was utilized to determine the significant change in students’ level of conceptual understanding after the first and second implementation phases, while the t-test for the independent sample was used to find out the significant difference between the pretest and posttests between the two groups. Results showed that students’ conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills significantly improved after exposure to the two approaches. The two groups’ levels of conceptual understanding in switching replication treatment are found to have no significant difference. Moreover, participants preferred guided questions and guided directions and believed in the importance of attaining a conceptual understanding of the lesson. It is suggested to integrate DTG and NDTM as teaching strategies and conduct a study considering a longer span of implementation to determine the effectiveness of the two approaches.

Abstract

The study aimed to evaluate the implementation of the revitalized tertiary physical education program known as the Physical Activity towards Health and Fitness (PATHFit) of a state university in Pampanga, Philippines relative to the statutory standard of the Commission on Higher Education and UNESCO’s Quality Physical Education (QPE) Model. A Mixed Methods Sequential Explanatory Design was utilized involving faculty members (n = 24) and a stratified sample of second-year college students (n = 114). Instrumentations were drafted based on the provisions of two standards considered in the study. The quantitative phase revealed that both the internal stakeholders evaluated the standards of the CMO 39, s. 2021 and the QPE standards and found them to be extremely evident and extremely effective. Additionally, t-tests revealed that there was a significant difference in the evaluation of the respondents. Regression analysis further identified that all five dimensions of the QPE which are assessed in concreteness are significant predictors of program effectiveness. The qualitative phase explored the two dimensions as actualized by the university in terms of notable practices and challenges encountered. It was suggested that the university may institutionalize mechanisms to foster quality physical education standards as embedded in the curriculum development cycle's planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation protocols.
