Abstract

Like most university learners, students in the Department of Pure and Applied Chemistry at the University of Strathclyde, experienced hybrid learning environments from March 2020 transitioning into hybrid approaches for the full academic year 21/22. As students who were in the early years of their programme at this time, and experienced a shift from traditional education practices are soon to graduate, a short research project was undertaken to better understand the perception of employers on the impact of remote and hybrid learning on current, and future, graduate skills, and competencies. Several employers in the chemical industries were surveyed to rate changes in their perception of, and importance of, key graduate skills and competencies after the pandemic. In general, it was shown that the employers responding to this survey did not show concern about the level of personal, professional, and higher-level cognitive skills developed by students working in remote/hybrid environments during the pandemic. A gap in practical skills was acknowledged as indicated by employers’ viewing students as being less skilled in this area, however the skills gap was not thought to be important with regards to employability. Additionally, employers indicated an increased importance on a student’s ability to develop and demonstrate basic personal and professional skills including communication, collaboration, interpersonal/networking, autonomy, self-management, and resilience. The research suggests programme leaders creating or modifying curricula should place attention on the development of these skills and competencies to ensure students are self-led to successfully transition into the workplace.

Abstract

Neuromarketing, a rapidly expanding field, utilizes brain-based techniques to understand and shape consumer behavior. Recently, there has been a surge in the popularity of neuromarketing techniques, supported by research indicating their substantial impact on consumer behavior. Notably, color psychology has emerged as a prominent area within neuromarketing. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between color psychology and its impact on consumer behavior among business students of a university in Cebu City. A quantitative correlational approach was employed, and data were collected from business students responding to Likert survey questionnaires distributed electronically. To achieve the study objectives, descriptive analysis and Pearson's Correlation Coefficient were used to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the data. The findings revealed a high level of awareness among the respondents, with "Pink" and "White" colors demonstrating strong associations. In contrast, "Purple" and "Brown" colors exhibited lower influence. Further analysis demonstrated significant relationships between the perceived level of color psychology in advertising, awareness level, and consumer buying behavior. The study established a strong positive correlation between color preferences, awareness levels, brand recall, and consumer behavior among business students.

Abstract

Learning to read and write is crucial in child’s development during entering formal schooling in grade one. These skills are identified to as language and literacy skills. It also predicts the child’s success later in school as well as in life. Reading and writing were both encompassed in early language literacy which are the foundation skills of a child and it develops as the child grows. This study aimed to determine the effects of the reading intervention strategies used by grade one teachers on the reading performance of grade one pupils in terms of word recognition, reading speed and reading comprehension. The participants in this study were the 23 grade one teachers coming from the 11 schools of the San Antonio District. Findings of the study came up with the following conclusions: Typical teachers of Grade I in San Antonio always use reading intervention strategies in terms of oral language, alphabet knowledge and word recognition, and often use strategies for phonological awareness, fluency and comprehension. The teachers used various activities exclusively for word recognition, fluency and reading comprehension. The learners have a high level of word recognition skills, are fast readers and with an instructional level of comprehension. A positive linear relationship exists between the reading intervention strategies and the learners' level of reading skills. After the investigation on the relationship between the reading intervention strategies and learner’s reading skills, the researcher recommends the following actions.

Abstract

A clearer understanding of human or social aspects of environmental issues will enhance conservation. While social acceptance is critical in determining MPA success, it continues to be an inadequately explored area of research. This study examined the acceptability of the proposed Marine Protected Area in Ozamiz City, Philippines. Stressing the significance of social acceptability to an MPA's successful implementation, this investigated the influence of the fishing households' knowledge of the marine environment and coastal resource management and the perceived condition of the coastal environment on the social acceptability of a proposed MPA implementation. The study used a mixed-method, particularly concurrent triangulation design, utilizing a sample of 270 fishing households in the 15 coastal barangays of Ozamiz City. The data were gathered through a survey supplemented with key informant interviews (KII). The study revealed that the knowledge of the marine environment and coastal resource management had shown a highly significant relationship and emerged as a predictor of the social acceptability of the proposed MPA. Therefore, greater knowledge of the marine environment and coastal resource management among the fisher folks and stakeholders, in general, may result in a higher level of acceptability of the proposed MPA, thus resulting in a successful implementation. Strategies must be implemented to enhance and enrich the fisher folks' knowledge of the marine ecosystem and coastal resource management. Information on the features, characteristics, and importance of the corals and coral reefs to the marine ecosystem should be emphasized.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the occurrence of convergence in inclusive economic growth at both the national and regional levels, as well as the factors that drive the increase in inclusive economic growth to reduce regional disparities. The analysis used is sigma convergence, absolute beta convergence, and conditional beta convergence. The data used is a panel consisting of 21 provinces in the Western Region of Indonesia (KBI), including Sumatra, Java and Kalimantan, 13 provinces in the Eastern Region of Indonesia (KTI), namely Sulawesi, Nusa Tenggara and Bali, Maluku and Papua, as well as national level consisting of 34 provinces in Indonesia from 2017 to 2021. This study shows that at the national level, KBI and KTI, there has been both sigma convergence and absolute beta convergence. Conditional beta convergence only occurs at the national level and KBI. Meanwhile, in KTI, there is no process of conditional beta convergence or what can be called divergence occurring. Variables that significantly affect the convergence process at the national level include government expenditure in the economic, health, and social protection sectors, domestic investment, and the open unemployment rate. At the KBI, significant factors include government expenditure in social protection sectors domestic investment and the unemployment rate. At the KTI, significant factors include government expenditures on the economic, health, and social protection sectors, foreign investment, and the unemployment rate.

Abstract

Introduction: Human values, including Truth, Virtue, Peace, Compassion, and Non-Violence, should be ingrained and educated in pupils from a young age to enhance their character in accordance with a nation's standards. Abstract

The aimed of this study was to ascertain how female uniformed Philippine National Police members manage their careers and how satisfied they are with their jobs. This study used survey methods in conjunction with descriptive correlation analysis. The San Juan City Police Station was the only location used for research with twenty-five (25) female uniformed personnel in the research area served as the respondents. Martinez (2019) provided a survey questionnaire that was used as the research instrument in this study. They used the mean and Pearson-r Correlation to examine the data. According to the survey, female officers support the program's implementation and are usually satisfied with its goals. Although they are contented with their compensation and benefits, they nevertheless require additional fundings in order to carry out their duties as professionals. Work satisfaction among female officers is effectively increased by the career management and development program, as evidenced by promoting gender equality and creating inclusive work environment. Investing in professional development boosts female officers' morale, motivation, and commitment to their jobs. Higher retention rates follow from this, particularly for law enforcement agencies. Additionally, the program improves performance and productivity, which helps the Philippine National Police succeed overall.
