Abstract

Amid the fluctuating Covid-19 pandemic, PT. Ramayana Lestari Sentosa (RALS) took over the Toserba Sabar Subur from PT. Subur Makmur Sentosa. Previously, experts never predicted that the acquisitions would occur in retail because people's purchasing power was so weak during a pandemic. However, a bold step was taken by RALS which opened several outlets of Ramayana Sabar Subur in Tangerang. This research was conducted to explore the managerial’s point of view in calculating the benefits of the local brand of Sabar Subur and to explore the management strategy of RALS in creating a fresher image of Toserba Sabar Subur without causing ambiguity between Sabar Subur and Ramayana. This research was descriptive with a qualitative approach using a case study method. The researcher used in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and literature in collecting the data. The results show that Co-Branding and Brand Repositioning have been implemented by the management of Ramayana Sabar Subur through four stages: fact finding, planning decisions, communication-action, and evaluation, have a positive impact on the image of the new Sabar Subur. However, the sales profit was not as good as the company's image. This is due to two things: (1) Ramayana Sabar Subur's market share tends to be the lower middle class who are vulnerable during a pandemic; (2) a marketing strategy that is still conventional and does not yet have a qualified digital team.

Abstract

The Indonesia Career Center Network (ICCN) survey in 2017 showed that 87 percent of Indonesian students chose study programs at universities that did not match their interests. One of the impacts of choosing a study program that is not in my interest is the possibility of delays in completing the education period on time and not maximizing the pursuit of the best results. Seeing these empirical conditions, this study aims to explain whether internal factors or external factors more significantly influence student interest when choosing a study program in higher education. Internal factors are represented by self-motivation, ideals, and desires. Meanwhile, external factors are represented by the image of the university, family support, and previous school support. This research was conducted at Universitas Duta Bangsa Surakarta with a sample of 339 students from various study programs selected at random. Data were collected using a digital questionnaire. The Likert scale became a data measuring tool and was analyzed using the Structural Equation Model (SEM). The results of the analysis show that internal factors have more influence on student interest when choosing a study program at the university level.

Abstract

Social media is usually utilized for literacy and education in articulating ideas and criticism. This study focused on the utilization of social media in the community during the COVID-19 outbreak, the implications for critical political awareness, and the wise use of social media. The data used was a compilation of hoax data circulating in Indonesia from independent fact-checking sites, government-run fact-checking sites, and fact-checking channels created by the mainstream media. The results revealed that the strong political polarization among the people was the cause of the massive spread of false news and hate speech during the COVID-19 outbreak. This study also described the mitigation strategy of MAFINDO to improve information security in facing an event that leads to an information crisis during the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, disinfodemic mitigation strategy was constructed as part of an early warning system in increasing public immunity against disinfodemic and controlling the spread of public suggestions and dangerous reactions. This study can be used an early warning system to prevent health misinformation by revitalizing the movement of the anti hoax community in online and offline education.

Abstract

The purpose of the analysis of the Bade Wheeled Phenomenon in the Ngaben Ceremony Structure in Bali is to reveal the meaning of Wheeled Bade. Bade is known in traditional Balinese culture as an important tool in the Ngaben Ceremony in Bali. However, some Balinese people have replaced the word "bade" with "bade wheels" as a means of Ngaben Ceremony. The problem is centered on: 1) What is the meaning of "bade" in the Ngaben Ceremony?; 2) What is the meaning of "wheeled bade?" The analysis of the Bade Wheeled Phenomenon in the Ngaben Ceremony Structure in Bali has been completed using qualitative methods in the perspective of cultural studies. The technical design of this research is realized based on the non-positivistic paradigm with the help of a semiotic approach. All data was collected through observation and literature study. All data were analyzed in an interpretative qualitative manner using symbol theory and reception theory. The results of the study show that: 1) Ngaben using Bade has a socio-religious meaning for Hindus in Bali. Ngaben is always celebrated using Bade, accompanied by various forms of Hindu sacred ceremonies. Bade has cultural meaning as an instrumental of the pitra yadnya rite that can be useful in fostering kinship in Balinese society; 2) The phenomenon of wheeled bade in the structure of the Ngaben ceremony has added economic value to mediators and users. On the one hand, the wheeled Bade in the structure of the Ngaben Ceremony has reduced the meaning of sacredness and the meaning of solidarity. This happened along with the change in the instrumental meaning of Bade in the Ngaben ceremony.
