Abstract

The aim of this research were investigated bamboo-based activated charcoal (ABT)characteristics using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR). ABT has been successfully synthesized through physico-chemical activation at 700°C with H3PO4 10% solution as activator. The resulted were porous surface structure of bamboo charcoal causes an absorption interaction of pollutants (cations, anions, and suspended solids/TSS) in wastewater. Bamboo charcoal has different physical characteristics from charcoal from other types of raw materials because the structure with lignin composition is different from charcoal from other wood. The spectral patterns of AB and ABT are similar but differ in intensity. The functional groups detected in the two materials are the same, but there are differences in the absorption intensity where the ABT is relatively lower, especially in the hydroxyl functional groups at around 3400 and 1600 cm-1. This decrease in intensity is due to the dehydration process that occurs during both physical and chemical activation processes so that the hydroxyl groups come out of the bamboo charcoal structure

Abstract

The urgency with which climate change education is required demands massive coordination across all formal education systems (primary, secondary and tertiary institutions), non-formal systems (community-based and non-governmental organisations), and informal systems (museums, over the radio, in libraries, or bus stops). It also demands attention from individuals in both low and high-carbon emitting countries, as well as within and across sectors (education, energy, agriculture, transportation and urban planning). Rather positively though, education has a ripple effect that goes beyond the individual learner and has the potential to build greater environmental enlightenment and concern amongst family members and communities. Accordingly, education (formal, informal and non-formal) would also help individuals and communities build resilience and lessen their vulnerabilities to a rapidly changing climate. Hence, this paper explores the barriers that impede enhanced climate change education with a view to helping surmount them and enlighten learners and communities at large, on the dangers of climate change and strategies of minimising human activities that bring about or accelerate climate change, even as communities get sensitised on resilience measures. Accordingly, the barriers to effective climate change education as determined by this review are inadequate political leadership, low eco-literacy levels, cognitive challenges, scepticism of scientific evidence, misinformation and disinformation of facts about climate change, limited knowledge and skills to impart to learners during climate change instruction, moral and behavioural challenges and psychological and social barriers. It is thus, recommended that salient aspects of climate change be integrated into teacher-training curricula worldwide and policies be enacted aimed at mitigating scepticism and disinformation concerning climate change. Furthermore, coordination of efforts between the private sector, government, community members and civil society to promote climate change education is strongly recommended together with the adoption of transformative learning that results in perspective and behaviour change

Abstract

This research background is based on increasing public awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and moving towards a green economy. This happens because environmental problems are increasingly complex and have an impact on human survival on earth. One way to overcome this problem is by developing green entrepreneurship or environmentally oriented entrepreneurship. Green entrepreneurship can help to build a sustainable economy and minimize negative impacts on the environment. However, the success of developing green entrepreneurship does not only depend on the entrepreneur's ability, but is also influenced by the entrepreneur's environmental knowledge and perception on green economy. This research aims to identify the factors that influence the interest in green entrepreneurship among entrepreneurs in Bali, especially environmental knowledge and perceptions of the green economy in the food and beverage (F&B) industry sector. Where the use of plastic materials in serving food and drinks is still very difficult to avoid. The analysis technique used in this research is Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) with a Partial Least Square (PLS) method approach. From the test results it can be analysed that the existence of environmental knowledge and perceptions of the green economy influence the interest in green entrepreneurship among entrepreneurs operating in the F&B sector in Bali, this is due to an increase of environmental problems in public awareness, making the environment an important factor in making business decisions

Abstract

This research aims to determine the diffusion of waste management program innovations in schools on Penyengat Island, Tanjungpinang City. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods. Based on the analysis results obtained in the field, it can be concluded that the results found using the Diffusion of Innovation theory by Everet M. Rogers with 4 elements, namely Innovation, Communication Channels, Time Period and Social System, show that the waste management program adoption process will run optimally. This shows that the spirit of intensive communication from the school community on Penyengat Island is enthusiastic about adopting the program due to the sense of ownership of the school, facilities and infrastructure that require development as well as the process of preparing administrative requirements which is slowly increasing with collaboration. More incentive assistance and communication is needed, especially by activating the role of committees at each school in forming the character of students.
