Abstract

Cireng Senja is a small asal micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) culinary in Jatireja, East Cikarang that sells affordable cireng through self service or prasmanan concept. Despite average production of around 250 pieces reported by the partner per day, growth of their business was limited as there was no adequate visual identity and consistent digital product details or an online channel to market the products. Objective: To conduct a community engagement program using low cost digital branding intervention to bolster the marketing readiness status of the partner. Using the participatory action learning method of initial observation, partner consultation, co-designing branding assets, activating on social media and output-based evaluation, the programme was conducted between 12 November and 18 December 2025. The program also generated an official logo, a digital menu, promotional materials and an Instagram account (@cirengsenjaku). From an offline-only business with no formal wordmark to a business ready with consistent visual identity and shareable digital marketing assets (before & after assessment) Total realized budget of IDR 20,000 for the intervention as this had moved from physical packaging reoccuring cost into evergreen digital assets. The assessment only took output fulfillment and readiness for operations into account; sales growth after the program was not counted. This program highlights that a combination of skill transfer and simple digital supports can help assist micro food businesses to brand without significant financial investment. Keywords: Digital branding, Food business, MSME, Community engagement and Social media marketing.

Abstract

The escalating consumption of electrical energy in the residential and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) sectors—particularly within culinary businesses—has emerged as a critical issue requiring immediate attention. Energy generation in Indonesia remains heavily reliant on fossil fuels, such as coal and petroleum, which significantly accelerates carbon emissions and environmental degradation. Restaurants, as prominent entities in the culinary sector, typically exhibit high electricity consumption due to the continuous operation of electronic appliances without structured energy management. This community service initiative aimed to deliver educational intervention and implement simple instrumentation to conserve electrical energy at Raja Bakso Restaurant. The execution methodology encompassed preliminary site surveys, high-load appliance identification, installation of rudimentary monitoring and control devices, energy management workshops, and post-implementation evaluation. The technical interventions included automatic digital timers, temperature sensors, and portable power monitoring meters.

Abstract

It was recorded that in 2023, there were 29.3 million MSMEs in Indonesia in the agriculture and fisheries sectors. One of the processed agricultural products in Indonesia is palm sugar. Palm sugar is a processed product that utilizes the sap of the sugar palm tree. Palm sugar can be a substitute for granulated sugar for diabetics. Researchers from the Center for Behavioral and Circular Economics Research (PR EPS) of the Indonesian Agency for Research on Indonesian National Agency for Research (BRIN) revealed that domestic production capacity is still far from sufficient to meet domestic market demand, let alone the export market. Purwabakti Village, located in Bogor Regency, has the potential to produce palm sugar. Palm sap or palm trees are abundant in this area. Palm sugar production is still relatively low. The amount of palm sugar produced by MSMEs in Purwabakti Village only ranges from 3-6 kg per week. Given the existing potential, palm sugar production can be increased. Production and marketing activities are still very conventional. Limited production facilities and production equipment are among the causes. In addition, palm sugar MSMEs face limitations in product distribution because they do not yet have a product brand and have not marketed through digital media. The Community Service Team provided training related to branding strategies, social media marketing, and the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for palm sugar production in Purwabakti Village. The activity resulted in the successful formulation of a brand for the Purwabakti village palm sugar product, namely "Manira Palm Sugar," and an Instagram social media account, "Manira Palm Sugar." The Community Service Team also developed a production standard operating procedure (SOP) that will serve as a standard for consistently producing quality palm sugar products.

Abstract

This community service program was designed to strengthen the English public speaking competence of students in the English Education Study Program at Universitas Islam Makassar. The activity addressed recurring difficulties in organizing self-introductions, opening and closing presentations, and maintaining effective non-verbal delivery. A practice-based workshop was developed around three mnemonic frameworks: T.A.I.L. for self-introduction, S.T.A.R.T. for presentation openings, and C.L.O.S.E. for presentation closings, supported by training in seven elements of body language. The program used guided modelling, individual writing, paired rehearsal, short presentation challenges, peer feedback, self-reflection, and facilitator observation. Evaluation focused on the structure of participants’ speaking scripts, clarity of delivery, use of transitions, audience engagement, and awareness of eye contact, posture, gesture, facial expression, voice, strategic pauses, and movement. The implementation indicated that the mnemonic frameworks helped participants organize ideas more quickly and reduced their dependence on improvised or repetitive expressions. Participants also demonstrated more purposeful openings and closings and greater attention to non-verbal delivery. Pronunciation consistency, spontaneous responses, and sustained fluency remained areas requiring continued practice. The program shows that a compact, scaffolded, and highly participatory English Meeting can serve as a practical model for extracurricular speaking development in higher education.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology has brought children into closer contact with various forms of visual information, particularly photographs and videos disseminated through social media platforms. However, the ease of capturing and distributing images is not always accompanied by adequate skills in understanding visual messages, identifying news values, and applying ethical principles in the use of photographs. This community service activity aims to introduce the fundamentals of photojournalism to children through a strategic collaboration between CIA Magazine, Warior (Junior Journalists), and the Institut Media Digital Emtek (IMDE). The activity is scheduled for July 30, 2026, involving 9 children as participants. The implementation method employs a participatory approach and practice-based learning, consisting of an introduction to photojournalism, instruction on photographic composition, introduction to the 5W+1H elements, hands-on photography practice, caption writing, participant work presentations, and evaluation. Through this activity, participants are guided to produce photographs that are not only visually appealing but also informative, story-driven, and journalistically valuable. This initiative is expected to strengthen children's visual literacy, creativity, environmental sensitivity, communication confidence, and understanding of ethics in photographing and publishing images.

Abstract

The sustainability of Bebegig Sukamantri, an Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Ciamis Regency, faces significant challenges due to limited community participation in the development of culture-based tourism souvenirs. This condition has hindered the utilization of Bebegig as both a cultural identity and a source of creative economic development. The 2026 Nusantara Arts Innovation Program (PISN) was designed to enhance community capacity through training in the design and production of souvenirs inspired by Bebegig Sukamantri. The program employed a Community Development approach, positioning Sanggar Seni Bebegig Sukamantri Baladdewa as both a partner and the principal actor throughout all stages of implementation. The training integrated Sundanese cultural knowledge, traditional woodcarving techniques, silicone mold-making, and resin casting for souvenir production. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in community capacity. The training successfully improved technical skills by 100% across 20 participants and generated 12 new prototype souvenir designs, benefiting entrepreneurs from several villages in Sukamantri District. The program confirms that a community-based empowerment approach is effective in strengthening the preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage while simultaneously promoting the creative economy through an adaptive and replicable training model.

Abstract

The availability of affordable and high-quality feed is an important factor in the sustainability of poultry farming. The Merak Farmers Group in Labuhanbatu Regency faces high commercial feed costs, while food waste generated from the Free Nutritious Meal Program and locally available trash fish have not been optimally utilized. This community service program aimed to improve farmers’ knowledge and practical skills in processing leftover rice, tofu, and tempeh from the Free Nutritious Meal Program, as well as trash fish, into raw materials for poultry pellet feed. The program applied a participatory approach through education, demonstration, hands-on practice, and production assistance. The implementation consisted of two main activities. The first activity involved sorting, drying, milling, and sieving food waste into feed meal. The second activity involved processing trash fish into fish meal, formulating the feed by adding rice bran, ground corn, and minerals, mixing the ingredients, producing pellets using a pellet machine, and drying the final product. The results showed that group members were able to carry out the processing stages and operate both the milling and pellet-making machines. The resulting pellets were relatively uniform, compact, easy to handle, and suitable for storage after drying. The utilization of locally available materials and previously underutilized resources reduced the amount of purchased feed ingredients, resulting in lower feed production costs compared with the full use of commercial feed. This program demonstrates that practice-based assistance can strengthen farmers’ capacity to produce alternative feed while supporting productive and sustainable waste management.
