Abstract

International schools partnering in the "Tech & Talk" program face challenges in actively using English and integrating technology into teaching. Although teachers have a basic understanding of English, they often struggle with spontaneous communication, clear instructions, and interactive discussions, which can lead to a passive learning environment. Despite having access to digital devices, many educators hesitate to use them effectively due to unfamiliarity or lack of training. Traditional teaching methods still dominate, limiting the potential of technology to create engaging and student-centered learning experiences. The "Tech & Talk" program aims to address these issues through practical workshops, increase teachers' confidence in using English for classroom interactions, and encourage them with practical digital teaching strategies. By enhancing language skills and technological proficiency, the program aims to accelerate a more dynamic and efficient learning environment.

Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service activity is to improve the understanding and skills of students in grades X, XI, and XII of SMKN 1 Binjai in implementing digital marketing strategies based on Meta products to support the competitiveness of school MSMEs. The implementation method uses a participatory training approach and direct practical mentoring which includes understanding digital marketing concepts, introducing Meta products, creating promotional content, managing customer communications, and evaluating data-based marketing performance. Success was measured through pre-tests, post-tests, group practice observations, and Likert-scale questionnaires to assess the increase in knowledge, skills, and perceptions of participants regarding the benefits of the training. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding after participating in the training, especially in the aspect of using Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp Business, and Meta Business Suite as promotional media for school MSMEs. Participants also demonstrated the ability to compose promotional captions, create digital content designs, manage customer communications, and understand performance indicators such as reach, impressions, engagement, clicks, comments, and incoming messages. The results of this training and mentoring have been proven to help students understand digital marketing in a more applicable, creative, and data-driven way. This activity also strengthens students' digital entrepreneurship skills by utilizing the Meta ecosystem as a learning and promotional medium. The limitation of this activity lies in the evaluation, which still focuses on short-term results through pre-tests, post-tests, and participant perceptions. Contributions: This activity provides practical contributions in the form of a digital marketing training model based on Meta products for vocational school students and theoretical contributions in strengthening digital entrepreneurship in schools.

Abstract

Digital transformation has become a critical success factor in destination marketing within the Tourism 4.0 era. As a leading tourist destination in West Java, Pangandaran Regency faces challenges in adapting to the information consumption trends of modern tourists who prioritize creative and concise visual content. The Department of Communication, Informatics, Statistics, and Journalism (Diskominfo) of Pangandaran Regency holds a strategic role in disseminating tourism information. However, current promotional strategies are still dominated by conventional video content, which is susceptible to audience fatigue and field production constraints. This community engagement initiative aims to diversify promotional media through the creation of motion graphics-based animation videos. This solution was selected due to its superiority in simplifying complex information into entertaining visual narratives (edutainment) and its flexibility in visualizing tourist attractions without being hindered by weather or logistical factors. The implementation method was carried out collaboratively, encompassing pre-production (research and scriptwriting), production (visual asset design and animation), and post-production (editing and final rendering). The primary output of this activity is the availability of high-quality promotional animation assets optimized for multi-platform local government social media networks. This intervention successfully bridges the technical resource gap of the partner while reinforcing the digital branding identity and visual positioning of Pangandaran’s tourism to drive higher tourist engagement.

Abstract

This community service initiative addresses the urgent need to enhance the sustainability and adaptive capacity of Uang Kepeng craftsmen in Kamasan Village, Klungkung, Bali, a culturally rich craftsmen community facing significant challenges in modernizing traditional practices amid dynamic market shifts. The objective of the program was to design and implement a dynamic capability framework tailored to the specific conditions of these small and medium-sized enterprises rooted in heritage craftsmanship. The community service was conducted using a participatory pction research approach, involving 11 active craftsmen. The methodology comprised three key phases: an initial pre-test to assess baseline knowledge of dynamic capabilities, participatory capacity-building workshops focused on idea generation, promotion, and realization, and a post-test evaluation to assess measurable improvement. These stages were complemented by continuous monitoring and feedback mechanisms to ensure responsiveness and relevance throughout the intervention. The results demonstrate a significant improvement across all dimensions of dynamic capability, with average scores rising from a pre-test baseline to a post-test mean. Craftsmen showed marked advancements in innovation orientation, strategic flexibility, knowledge absorption, and cultural adaptation. The program successfully bridged the gap between traditional skill sets and the strategic agility required to thrive in today’s creative economy. Discussions revealed both the potential of these craftsmen to evolve through targeted empowerment and the challenges posed by limited digital literacy, generational divides, and operational informality. In conclusion, this community service program provided evidence of the effectiveness of dynamic capability interventions in traditional, low-digital economies. The initiative not only empowered the local craftsmen community to adapt and innovate but also contributed to the theoretical application of dynamic capabilities in socio-cultural contexts. The findings highlight the importance of integrating culturally grounded methods with strategic development to ensure sustainable community transformation.

Abstract

The use of conventional cigarettes and e-cigarettes (vapes) among adolescents is a public health issue that requires serious attention. Poor understanding of the dangers of nicotine and the perception that vapes are safer than cigarettes are factors driving the increased use of nicotine products among students. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and awareness of students at SMKS Al Washliyah 3 Medan regarding the dangers of cigarettes and vapes, their nicotine content, and their impact on health through scientific evidence-based education. The activity was implemented through a participatory educational approach, including health education, presentations, interactive discussions, and refusal skills training for students who are tempted to use cigarettes and vapes. The target group of the activity was adolescent students at SMKS Al Washliyah 3 Medan. Educational materials covered the differences between cigarettes and vapes, the harmful substances contained in nicotine products, the impact of nicotine on adolescent brain development, the risks of short-term and long-term health problems, and strategies for developing a healthy lifestyle without nicotine. The results of the activity showed an increase in students' understanding of the risks of cigarette and vape use, particularly regarding nicotine content and the potential for dependence. Through discussion sessions, students also began to understand that vaping is not a safe product, but rather carries health risks and can be a gateway to conventional smoking. This activity also encouraged students to develop positive attitudes toward rejecting the use of nicotine products and supporting the creation of a healthy, smoke-free school environment. This community service activity contributed to improving adolescent health literacy through a promotive and preventative approach based on evidence-based education. Continuous education about the dangers of smoking and vaping in the school environment is expected to foster a more health-conscious, productive, and nicotine-free young generation.

Abstract

Coastal areas face a variety of complex challenges, including environmental pollution, limited access to clean water, poor public health, and social and economic vulnerability. These conditions call for a development approach that is not only environmentally focused but also capable of strengthening community capacity in a sustainable manner. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the LAWANG CEMORO Program (Gateway of Hope for the People of North Semarang) as a social innovation by PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Integrated Terminal Semarang in building coastal resilience through a sustainable development approach. The study employs a qualitative method using a case study approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review, and were then analyzed descriptively using a sustainable development framework. The research findings show that the LAWANG CEMORO Program is implemented through four main pillars: Manfaati Sampah, Tirto Migunani, Sehat Jiwa Raga, and Pasinaon. The “Manfaati Sampah” pillar successfully promotes the circular economy through the management of economically valuable waste; “Tirto Migunani” enhances water resilience through the use of solar-powered, environmentally friendly water filtration technology (SITIRTA); “Sehat Jiwa Raga” strengthens social resilience through preventive health services and protection for vulnerable groups; and “Pasinaon” builds community capacity through education, training, and economic empowerment. The implementation of these four pillars has had a positive impact on improving the quality of the environment, health, social capacity, and the economic self-reliance of coastal communities. Research findings indicate that collaboration between companies, the government, and the community through social innovations based on local needs can strengthen the resilience of coastal areas while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
