Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the physical condition of athletes participating in the Regional Student Sports Training Program (PPLOPD) for athletics in Salatiga City in 2025. The research employed a descriptive quantitative design involving 50 athletes, consisting of male and female participants, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through physical condition tests covering eight components of physical fitness, including speed, endurance, strength, flexibility, and coordination, as well as medical fitness tests conducted by sports medicine professionals. The physical condition test results were converted into total scores ranging from 0 to 80 points and classified into six categories: Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor, Very Poor, and Extremely Poor based on the standards of the Indonesian Athletics Federation (FAI). The results showed that 46% of athletes were in the Good and Very Good categories, 26% were in the Fair category, and 28% were below the Fair category. Although all athletes were declared medically fit to train, variations in physical condition indicated the need for individualized and systematic training programs. This study highlights the importance of periodic physical condition evaluation as a foundation for designing safe, effective, and performance-oriented training programs for student athletes.

Abstract

This study examines the effectiveness of local culture-based physical education learning strategies in enhancing motor development among elementary school students living in disaster-prone areas. The research was conducted at SDN 2 Banjaririgasi using a quantitative correlational design. Participants consisted of 55 fourth-grade students. Data on the implementation of local culture in physical education were collected through a validated and reliable questionnaire focusing on traditional games. Meanwhile, students’ motor development was assessed using the Motor Ability Test, which measures agility, coordination, balance, and speed. Data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment correlation. The results revealed a very strong and statistically significant relationship between local culture-based learning strategies and students’ motor development (r = 0.972; p < 0.05). These findings suggest that integrating local cultural elements into physical education learning not only preserves cultural values but also plays a meaningful role in optimizing students’ motor skills. Therefore, local culture-based physical education strategies can serve as an effective and contextually relevant approach for supporting motor development in elementary schools located in disaster-prone regions.

Abstract

Swimming speed is determined by the accuracy in setting training zones, meeting energy requirements, and the training distance targeted by swimmers. In addition, physiological adaptations, including aerobic and anaerobic capacity, play an important role in improving the performance of swimmers. This study aims to determine the effect of the High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) programme on improving the speed of swimming 50 metres freestyle. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a one group pretest-posttest design. The population and sample consisted of 16 swimmers from the Sailfish Swimming Club who were selected using purposive sampling. Data analysis was performed using a t-test. The results showed a significant improvement, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, where the average swimming time in the pretest was 38.64 seconds and increased in the posttest to 36.97 seconds.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the physical endurance levels of male handball athletes in Surabaya. Handball is a high-intensity sport played for minutes, requiring optimal fitness to maintain athlete performance throughout the match. Optimal physical condition is key for athletes to perform physical activities without excessive fatigue. The research method used was descriptive quantitative. The study subjects consisted of 21 male handball athletes from Surabaya. Data collection was conducted through tests and direct measurements on the field to obtain factual data regarding the athletes' cardiorespiratory endurance capacity. The results showed that the highest athlete achievement score was 93.83, while the lowest score was 76.79. Based on the data analysis, none of the athletes achieved the standard benchmark of 55.00 ml/kg/min. Overall, the average physical performance of the sample was below 100% of the established standard. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the physical endurance level of male handball athletes in Surabaya is considered poor. These results are expected to serve as evaluation material for coaches to improve the intensity and quality of future physical training programs

Abstract

This study was conducted to design and develop the Super Kids Ceria Gymnastics model as an innovative approach to rhythmic activity learning for elementary school students. The research applied a Research and Development (R&D) design based on the Borg and Gall development framework. The study took place at SD N 1 Ngawensari, involving 20 fifth-grade students in the small-scale trial and 115 students from grades I to VI in the large-scale implementation. Data were gathered using expert validation instruments, student response questionnaires, observation sheets, and pretest–posttest pulse rate measurements. The findings indicated that expert validation achieved an average score of 77.00%, categorized as Good. The small-scale trial resulted in a score of 80.69% (Good category), while the large-scale trial demonstrated an improved result of 84.90%, classified as Very Good. Furthermore, the paired sample t-test produced a significance value of 0.000 (<0.05), confirming a statistically significant increase in students’ pulse rates after participating in the gymnastics activity. Therefore, the Super Kids Ceria Gymnastics model can be considered both appropriate and effective as a rhythmic learning strategy in elementary school physical education.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a structured resistance training program based on sport science principles in enhancing physical performance and reducing injury rates among youth athletes at ASIOP Football Academy. A quasi-experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group was employed, involving 40 athletes (aged 14–17 years) divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention consisted of 12 weeks of periodic resistance training (3×/week), while the control group continued with conventional training. Performance variables were measured using VO_2max, 30 m sprints, vertical jumps, and the T-test for agility, while injuries were tracked using the FIFA surveillance system. Paired t-test and independent t-test analyses showed significant improvements (p < 0.05) across all performance variables in the intervention group, alongside a 32% reduction in injury rates. These results conclude that quality-based resistance training contributes significantly to performance enhancement and injury prevention in youth soccer athletes.
