Abstract

Often parents do not realize when their children experience delays in growth and development. Children's development and growth will be optimal if parents are able to provide stimulation but in reality, mothers' knowledge about stimulation is still low.  The purpose of community service carried out by the team in Malabero Village, Bengkulu City is to measure mothers' knowledge before and after being given health education interventions about growth and development stimulation and to provide education and demonstrations of stimulation that mothers can apply to their children. The participants who attended this activity were 30 people. This activity began with the team conducting a pre-test by distributing questionnaires to participants, then providing education and demonstrations, then evaluating the results of the intervention by distributing questionnaires back to participants for the post-test results. The results obtained were 100% of the invited participants attended with their babies and toddlers and the average difference in knowledge before and after the health education intervention on growth and development stimulation was 3.4. This activity proves that an applicable educational approach accompanied by demonstrations can increase participants' knowledge. Thus, educational and demonstration activities like this can be an important basis for the development of similar health promotion programs in other areas to support efforts to prevent delays in child growth and development and optimize growth and development from an early age. And health education about babies and toddlers should be carried out periodically in Malabero Village.

Abstract

With increasing age, body tissues gradually lose their ability to perform their functions, so they cannot withstand foreign objects such as microorganisms and also lose their ability to repair damaged tissues. This process is known as aging. One of the degenerative diseases that is currently prone to attacking the elderly is Diabetes Mellitus. The method used to prevent diabetes can be done by BIJAK education (B: Do physical activity for at least 30 minutes every day, I: Remember to eat lots of fruits and vegetables, J: Don't smoke and drink alcohol, A: Let's test your blood sugar regularly, K: Manage stress). The purpose of this community service is to increase the elderly's understanding of diabetes mellitus, its causes, prevention, and the importance of a healthy lifestyle through education and blood sugar level checks in the elderly. The activity was carried out on November 13, 2023 with 30 elderly people at the RI veteran complex, North Cimahi. The methods used include: conducting a pretest, providing health education, checking blood sugar levels, and conducting a posttest. The results of community service showed that there was an increase in knowledge before and after BIJAK education was given, namely that most elderly people, as many as 53%, had poor knowledge and most elderly people, as many as 93.3%, had good knowledge; most elderly people's blood sugar levels, as many as 73.3%, were in the normal category.

Abstract

The era of disruption has significantly influenced adolescent behavior in Indonesia, particularly regarding sexual violence. This issue leads to physical and psychological suffering, including reproductive health disorders, and diminishes the opportunity for safe and optimal education. In 2021, there were 11,952 cases of sexual violence against children, with 7,004 reported. In Southeast Sulawesi, 240 cases were recorded in 2020, with 35 more by May 2022. Southern Konawe district saw 13 cases. Notably, there was no education on sexual violence at SMP Negeri 2 Satap Konawe Selatan, prompting the lecturer team to conduct community service through socialization. This activity at SMP 2 Satap involved 70 students, aiming to increase adolescent knowledge about sexual violence and establish cross-sectoral partnerships in health, supporting the Ministry of Education and Culture's strategy for a healthy and smart generation. The program used lectures, discussions, and evaluations with pre- and post-tests. Results showed an increase in prevention knowledge from 30% to 79% and understanding of case handling from 20% to 75%, alongside positive feedback from the teacher council. Building a healthy and safe school environment fosters student independence, emphasizing the importance of the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (PPKS). Religion and family also play crucial roles in securing a bright future for adolescents.

Abstract

Plastic is a polymer compound whose main constituent elements are carbon and hydrogen. Because it is difficult to decompose in nature, plastic is the biggest contributor to waste which causes damage to the natural balance. Based on data from the National Waste Management Information System (2023), Plastic waste is the second most common type of waste after food waste, as many as 41.1%. The solution to banning the use of plastic spoons and straws has been found by creating environmentally friendly spoons and straws that are edible and biodegradable. This biodegradable (Edible Spoon) uses wheat flour as a base so it is safe for consumption. Edible and biodegradable straws (Edible Straw) are also made from natural ingredients, namely cassava flour (mocaf) and cornstarch. The method used to produce Edible Straw is the fruit peel method. The method used to produce Edible Straw is the fruit peel method. This method is used to make Edible Straw dough from a mixture of dough and fruit which is mashed into a thin sheet resembling skin. This community service was carried out by STIKES PEMKAB Jombang students with the aim of reducing the amount of plastic waste, especially plastic spoon and straw waste in Jombang.
