One way to find out regionals’ potentials is by calculating location quotient (LQ) in order to identify basic sectors of regions. Previous studies have shown that policy advices given were to pay attention on the basic sectors to improve the regional economy, with less discussion on non-basic sectors. The aims of this study are: (1) to access whether there are trickle down effects from basic to non basic sectors based on LQ calculation, (2) determine non basic and sub sectors of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to be prioritized for development based on Central Java Province’s Medium Term Development Planning. LQ calculations during 2010 to 2016 period show that from 17 economic sectors in Central Java, education services sector was the only sector that a non-basic sector in 2010 and became a basic sector in 2016. LQ results also show that four sectors have always been basic sectors and eight sectors have always been non-basic sectors, the two sectors had changed but returned as before in the next year and two sectors changed from basic sectors to non-basic sectors. This study suggests that Central Java government should pay attention to the non-basic sectors of MSMEs in order to improve the economy of Central Java.

The Arfak Mountains Regency is administratively formed in 2012. With the establishment of the Arfak Mountains District as a new autonomous region, all forms of economic levels have been separated from the former regency. Arfak Mountains Regency as an autonomous region is expected to have the ability to manage regional own revenue to finance the administration of the regional government. In achieving the capability in regional financial independence, it is necessary to optimize the sources of regional revenue. The results of the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP) on the assessment of several alternative policies related to the optimization of sources of regional own revenue in the Arfak Mountains District, are as followed: (1). Increasing revenue capacity through better planning; (2). expanding revenue bases; (3). improving administrative efficiency and reducing collection costs; (4). strengthening collection processes and (5). improving controlling processes. This study aims to determine the effect of ticket prices, income levels and service quality on demand for interisland crossing transportation services in Marampa Port, Manokwari Regency. The sample of this study was 75 passenger respondents. Data analysis in this study uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that the level of income had a significant effect on demand for inter-island crossing transportation services at Marampa Port in Manokwari, while ticket prices and service quality did not have a significant effect. The implication of this research is that the substitution of other modes of transportation can occur if there is an increase in the level of passenger income. In addition, improving the quality of services needs to be continued both by the local government and the port administrator.

The study analyses the determinants of unemployment in North Maluku". The study using such variables as unemployment, economic growth, investment, and local minimum wage. The data analyzed quantitatively by conducting the statistical method of multiple linear regression. The results show that the economic growth and the minimum wages have a significant effect, otherwise the investment has not significant effect on an unemployment in North Maluku Province. This is caused by the high dependence of North Maluku on supplies from outside the province that led to net imports between regions, and it then induce a negative share for the economic structure of North Maluku.

The local development approach based on islands is different with the developing of land area. The natural limitations possessed by the islands region that constrained by some characteristics such as isolation, smallness, boundless, and fragmentation. The study analyzes the impact of port connectivity to the local economic development by taking the case in the island province (North Maluku) in east Indonesia. The analysis method using the panel data model of 9 residences in period 2010-2016 in which the indicators that used are GDP, roadway, port throughput, economic density, and also container port, sea-tollway as the dummy variables. According to the common effect, model shows that all independent variables have a significant influence on the GDP except roadway. While based on Hausman test suggest that random effect model is more appropriated than FEM of which the result shows that container port and sea-tollway have not a significant impact on the GDP. These results implied that the policy of port connectivity within sea-tollway is not effective to improve the local economic development in particular in the islands based on region.

This research is a type of quantitative descriptive research and data sources include primary and secondary data. The sampling method is convenience sampling, the number of samples taken is 99 respondents, the data analysis technique in this research is using multiple linear regression. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be seen that the level of education has a negative and significant effect on the length of work seeking. While age has a positive effect and income level has a negative effect on the speed of obtaining one's work, but both do not significantly influence the 95% level of confidence. fisheries in Fakfak Regency. This study used a survey method with direct interview techniques for respondents consisting of fishermen, collectors, retailers, wholesalers and processed fisheries traders. The results showed that, the largest income average of capture fisheries marketing institutions in Fakfak district was at large merchant institutions with a level of income of Rp. This is because large traders sell fish in very large quantities with the aim of selling outside the city of Fakfak. A very large cost is proportional to the income received by large traders. However, the lowest income is obtained by retail traders. Fishermen who have higher income from retailers and collectors are also associated with production costs that are not too large when compared to the purchase costs incurred by traders. The average production cost incurred by fishermen is Rp 2,392,272 which consists of fuel costs, storage costs and consumption costs.
