Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the effect of Human Capital Management (HCM) maturity dimensions, including leadership practices, employee engagement, knowledge accessibility, workforce optimization, and learning capacity, on employee performance at PT XYZ's Heavy Industry Unit. Research Methodology: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 201 employees selected from a population of 270 through proportionate stratified sampling technique. Data were collected using a five-point Likert scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). Results: The findings show that all HCM Maturity dimensions positively and significantly affect employee performance. Leadership practices had the strongest influence, followed by learning capacity and knowledge accessibility. The model explains 56.3% of the variance in employee performance. Conclusions: HCM Maturity plays an important role in improving employee performance and organizational effectiveness in the heavy industry sector. Strengthening leadership, learning capacity, and knowledge management can support productivity improvements. Limitations: This study focuses on a single business unit and applies a cross-sectional design, limiting the generalizability of the results. Contributions:  This study provides empirical evidence of  the integrative effect of HCM Maturity dimensions on employee performance in a state-owned heavy industry context, a setting underrepresented in the existing literature, and offers actionable prioritization guidance for human capital practitioners.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to examine the implementation of the Ease of Import Facilities for Export-Oriented Small and Medium Industries (Kemudahan Impor Tujuan Ekspor untuk Industri Kecil dan Menengah/KITE IKM) policy and explore the factors affecting its implementation based on Grindle’s policy implementation model. Research Methodology: This study employs a qualitative approach using Grindle’s policy implementation model for the analysis. Data were collected through interviews and document and literature reviews. Results: Policy implementation is hindered by various constraints, including the absence of quantitative targets, limitations in the performance measurement system for facility beneficiaries, and insufficient inter-agency coordination in supporting the empowerment of export-oriented Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). In terms of implementation factors, weaknesses such as a limited understanding of the target group, suboptimal outreach, and uneven implementation strategies across the Digital Green Communication Engagement (DGCE’s) operational regions persist. Conclusions: Optimizing the KITE IKM program requires not only improvements in policy implementation but also strengthening the export SME ecosystem through more integrated inter-agency collaboration to support capacity building and SMEs exports. Limitations: This study is limited to the implementation of the KITE IKM policy during 2017-2025 employing Grindle’s policy implementation framework. Contributions: This study contributes to the literature on policy implementation and provides practical insights for policymakers, particularly the DGCE, to improve the implementation of the KITE IKM program and strengthen MSME empowerment and export participation.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines Human Greatness Labs (HGL), a Bandung-based local fashion Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) facing fluctuating sales performance, product quality concerns, and increasingly digital consumer feedback. Grounded in strategic management and dynamic capabilities perspectives, this study identifies internal and external strategic factors, formulates business development alternatives, and determines the priority strategy for strengthening HGL’s competitiveness. Research Methodology: A qualitative exploratory-descriptive single case study was conducted using interviews with nine informants, consisting of five internal and four external informants, supported by company documentation, internal sales data, and e-commerce consumer reviews. The analysis applied the Internal Factor Evaluation (IFE), External Factor Evaluation (EFE), Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats (SWOT) analysis, Internal External (IE) Matrix, and Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM). Results: The findings show that HGL obtained an IFE score of 2.5677 and an EFE score of 2.8114, positioning the company in Cell V of the IE Matrix, which indicates a hold and maintain strategy. The QSPM analysis identified AS3 as the priority strategy, with the highest Total Attractiveness Score (TAS) of 6.2427. Conclusions: HGL should prioritize comfortable, functional, and trend-relevant basic wear development through color innovation, improved cutting, and digital consumer insights before pursuing broader market expansion. Limitations: The single case study design limits statistical generalization to other local fashion brands. Contributions: This study contributes to strategic management research by integrating stakeholder interviews, sales data, and online consumer reviews into evidence-based strategy formulation for Indonesian local fashion SMEs.

Abstract

Purpose: This study addresses the limited evidence on the simultaneous relationships among career anxiety, career self-efficacy, and work readiness by testing an integrated mediation model based on Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT).Research Methodology: A quantitative cross-sectional survey was conducted involving 374 final-year undergraduate students from accredited Indonesian universities selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured online questionnaire and analyzed with Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) in SmartPLS 4.0 including measurement model evaluation and bootstrapping for hypothesis testing. Results: Career anxiety did not significantly influence work readiness directly (? = 0.092, p = 0.056). However, career anxiety significantly affected career self-efficacy (? = 0.536, p < 0.001), while career self-efficacy positively influenced work readiness (? = 0.677, p < 0.001). Bootstrapping results further demonstrated that career self-efficacy fully mediated the relationship between career anxiety and work readiness. Conclusions: Career self-efficacy represents the primary psychological mechanism through which career anxiety influences students’ readiness for employment. Strengthening students’ career self-efficacy can reduce the adverse effects of career anxiety and improve their transition into the labor market.Limitations: This study is limited by its cross-sectional design, reliance on self-reported data, and focus on final-year university students in Indonesia.Contributions: This study extends Social Cognitive Career Theory by integrating career anxiety, career self-efficacy, and work readiness within a mediation framework, offering practical implications for enhancing graduate employability in higher education.

Abstract

Purpose: This study systematically examines the relationships among organizational innovation, organizational sustainability, competitive advantage, and Micro, Small, And Medium Enterprise (MSME) performance from a Resource Based View (RBV) perspective. It addresses a research gap by integrating these four constructs into a single conceptual framework, as previous studies have predominantly examined them separately or through limited variable relationships.Research Methodology: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was conducted using the PRISMA 2020 protocol. The study reviewed 68 peer-reviewed articles published between 2015 and 2025 from Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Data were analyzed through narrative synthesis, thematic clustering, and gap analysis. Results: The findings show that organizational innovation has the strongest positive relationship with MSME performance, while organizational sustainability also contributes significantly. Competitive advantage acts as a mediating mechanism, although its effect varies across different business contexts. Limited studies integrating all constructs indicate a research gap. Conclusions: The review confirms RBV as a relevant foundation for explaining MSME performance through innovation, sustainability, and competitive advantage.Limitations: This study is limited to secondary data from peer-reviewed publications between 2015 and 2025, which may affect broader generalization.Contributions: This study provides an integrated RBV-based framework and future research directions for strengthening MSME competitiveness and sustainability.

Abstract

Purpose: This study consolidates fragmented evidence on how small and medium-sized enterprises convert digital transformation into competitive advantage through strategic capabilities, and develops an integrative conceptual framework.Research Methodology: The study applies a systematic literature review with thematic synthesis. Candidate records were identified through database and publisher-oriented searching, backward reference checking, and source tracing, then screened, appraised against a transparent rubric, and coded into descriptive and analytical themes. Every included record was independently verified for existence, authorship, year, outlet, and an active digital object identifier. Results: The synthesis identifies six themes: digital transformation as a capability-building process; digital capability and digital marketing capability; innovation capability as a value-conversion mechanism; market orientation, learning orientation, and strategic agility; competitive advantage and sustainable performance; and ecosystem, policy, and readiness constraints. The evidence indicates that digital adoption yields advantage only when it is embedded in firm-specific capabilities. Conclusions: Digital transformation becomes strategically valuable when it is converted into integrated capabilities that are aligned with market learning, translated by innovation, and deployed with agility.Limitations: The framework is conceptual and has not been tested empirically. Screening and appraisal were performed by a single coder, and the evidence base is cross-contextual rather than exclusive to emerging economies.Contributions: The study proposes the Digital Capability, Market Alignment, and Innovation framework with testable propositions, clarifying the pathway from digital adoption to competitive advantage and offering an agenda for research in Indonesia and other emerging economies.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the role of government and community support in enhancing Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises (MSMEs) competitive advantage through internal capabilities. Although external support has been widely recognized as a key driver of MSME performance, few studies have explained how these various support providers enhance competitive advantage through the development of organizational capabilities.Research Methodology: A quantitative cross-sectional survey of 100 MSMEs affiliated with the North Sumatra Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN) was analysed using PLS-SEM in SmartPLS 3. Internal Capabilities were modeled as a higher-order construct comprising Leadership, Entrepreneurial Motivation, and Financial Competence. Results: Government support has a significant impact on both internal capabilities and competitive advantage, whilst community support significantly strengthens internal capabilities but does not directly influence competitive advantage. Internal capabilities have a significant positive influence on competitive advantage and act as a mediator in the relationship between external support and competitive advantage. Conclusions: External support contributes to the competitiveness of MSMEs through various strategic mechanisms, with internal capacity acting as the primary channel for transforming external support into a sustainable competitive advantage.Limitations: This study employs a cross-sectional design and focuses on MSMEs that are members of KADIN in North Sumatra.Contributions: This study extends the literature by conceptualizing Internal Capabilities as a higher-order construct integrating Leadership, Entrepreneurial Motivation, and Financial Competence to explain MSME competitive advantage.

Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze the influence of corruption and political stability on the quality of human resources.Research Methodology: The research was conducted in 62 countries in the Asia, Europe, and America regions during the 2020–2024 period, which was analyzed using a panel regression method with a fixed effects approach. Results: In aggregate, the primary research findings indicate that corruption and political stability have a significant negative effect on human resource quality. However, regional analysis reveals heterogeneity. In the Americas, corruption and political stability have a positive effect on human resource quality, although the effect of political stability is not significant. In Asia, corruption has a positive effect, while political stability has a negative effect. Conversely, in Europe, corruption has a negative effect and political stability has a positive effect on human resource quality. These differences indicate that the relationship between institutional factors and human resource quality is influenced by the characteristics of governance, economic conditions, and institutional capacity in each region. Conclusions: Corruption and political stability have a negative and significant effect on human resource quality.Limitations: This research only covers 62 countries based on a survey conducted by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) World Competitiveness Center.Contributions: Academically, this study extends the literature by placing political factors and corruption within the framework of Human Capital Theory and offers a new measurement of human resource quality. Practically, the results can be used as a basis for formulating contextual human resource development policies.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines the direct and mediating effects of market orientation, dynamic capability, and absorptive capacity on sustainable competitive advantage among Micro, Small, Medium-Sized Enterprises (MSMEs).Research Methodology: Employing a quantitative explanatory approach, this study analyzes data from 280 purposively selected MSMEs using structured questionnaires and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM).Results: The findings indicate that market orientation significantly enhances absorptive capacity by improving firms’ ability to acquire, assimilate, and utilize external knowledge. Market orientation and dynamic capability also positively affect sustainable competitive advantage, while absorptive capacity partially mediates these relationships. Conclusions: MSMEs need to strengthen market knowledge, organizational flexibility, and knowledge management capabilities to maintain long-term competitiveness.Limitations: The cross-sectional design and industry-specific context may limit the generalizability of the findings across different sectors and regions.Contributions: This study contributes to the Knowledge-Based View (KBV) and Dynamic Capability Theory (DCT) by explaining how knowledge utilization and adaptive capabilities generate sustainable competitive advantage. It also provides practical implications for MSME managers in improving strategic responsiveness and organizational adaptability.

Abstract

Purpose: This study examines how four marketing mix strategies product, price, place, and promotion influence housing purchase decisions in Banjar Regency, with purchase intention as an intervening variable and purchasing power as a moderating variable.Methodology: This study employed a quantitative explanatory survey involving 300 housing buyers selected proportionally from active housing developers in Banjar Regency. Data were collected through a five-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) to examine direct, mediation, and moderation relationships. Results: The findings indicate that price and promotion significantly enhance purchase intention, while product and place do not show significant effects. Price positively influences purchase decisions, whereas product has a significant negative direct effect. Purchase intention strongly determines purchase decisions and mediates the effects of price and promotion. Purchasing power significantly moderates the intention decision relationship, although the interaction effect is negative and weak. Conclusions: Housing purchase decisions are driven primarily by affordable pricing and intention formation rather than by product or location attributes alone.Limitations: The cross-sectional design and single-regency setting limit causal and geographic generalization.Contributions: This study contributes to property marketing research by demonstrating how marketing strategies operate through psychological intention under varying economic capabilities, providing a contextual extension of the marketing mix model in regional housing markets.
