Abstract

Teachers have many different roles in society that are significant and valuable. Aside from performing the noble task of teaching the country's young citizens, teachers are also called to man the polling precincts every election day. Their duties are to ensure free, honest, and clean elections. Specifically, they should prevent any attempt to manipulate the results to benefit any candidate or party. This study will describe and understand the lived experience of public-school teachers who served as poll workers during the 2022 national and local elections. A phenomenological approach was utilized as a research design. Ten public school teachers who served as poll workers during the 2022 federal and provincial elections were considered study participants. They were selected through purposive sampling. An interview guide was used to gather the data. The Hyper-Research software identified the codes derived from the interview results to formulate the themes. Analysis of the responses was done using Moustaka's transcendental phenomenology. Results generated six themes, namely: (1) Being prepared to apply in the Training; (2) Experiencing Technical Difficulties; (3) Experiencing Internet Instability; (4) Experiencing Psychological Differences; (5) Using Coping Strategies; and (6) Being Fulfilled and Satisfied in the Job. The participants had a variety of experiences while serving on the electoral board. This includes their readiness to apply their training learning, encountering technical difficulties, experiencing internet instability, and, as a result, encountering psychological differences. Despite their difficulties, they dealt with them effectively by employing coping strategies. They have been through various good and bad situations, but they have shown such dedication to their work that they still feel satisfied and fulfilled despite the sleepless nights and starvation. This study recommended that all electoral board members should have adequate training to ensure that everyone knows what to do in case unpredictable circumstances happen so that they can respond immediately.

Abstract

This study explored various studies related to digital literacy in teaching English to young learners in Asia. A systematic review was conducted using the PRISMA methodology to analyze studies published between 2014 to 2024. The screening process found seven relevant studies selected to be reviewed. The data were synthesized to explore the importance and challenges of digital literacy in English language teaching for young learners. The results revealed that using digital tools like digital storytelling, digital pictures, and video-based instruction enhances students’ engagement and students’ skills. However, unequal access to technology and teachers limited digital literacy were identified as challenges. The findings pointed the need of training programs for teachers to enhance digital literacy skills. Policymakers and schools should collaborate to provide the technology and make sure the internet can be accessed equally. Overall, this study highlighted that in teaching English, the use of technology and traditional method should be balance.

Abstract

This study examined the impact of teacher quality on Business Education students’ entrepreneurship skills development in public universities in Southwest, Nigeria. The study examined the extent to which teacher quality has helped to build students entrepreneurship skills. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.05 level of significance. Descriptive survey research design method was adopted for the study. The population of the study was 100 to 400 level Business Education students from 11 public universities in Southwest offering Business Education as a course of study and multi-stage sampling technique was adopted to draw the sample size. Firstly, simple random sampling technique was adopted to select four universities from the population of study while purposive sampling technique was used to draw the sample size of 400 participants from the population. A four rating structured online questionnaire titled “Teacher Quality and Business Education Students Entrepreneurial Skills Development Questionnaire” (TQBESESDQ) was employed to gather data for the study. Person Product Moment Correlation (r) was used to test the hypotheses. Results from the findings revealed among others that instructional methods adopted by teachers have a great effect on the development of students’ entrepreneurship skills. Based on the findings, the study recommended that instructional methods adopted by teachers should be tailored towards improving self-reliance skills of students, teachers should be constantly trained and more qualified teachers should be employed in order to meet students’ needs.

Abstract

Student engagement stands as a critical determinant of academic success and learning outcomes, particularly in the realm of science education, where active participation and enthusiasm significantly impact knowledge acquisition and retention. This study aimed to enhance the engagement of Grade 7 students in science classes using the Science Workstation Strategy in one of the public schools in Ozamiz City during the academic year 2023-2024. The study utilized a classroom-based action research design. Thirty - five participants were selected through purposive sampling during the A.Y. 2023-2024 in a public school in Ozamiz City. The study used a researcher-made test and Minitab statistical software, utilizing tools such as mean, standard deviation, and t-test. The study yielded the following findings: (1) On the average, students’ engagement displayed a high level of engagement before using the workstation strategy; (2) The students’ engagement after using the Science Workstation Strategy improved significantly. They performed within the Moderately High range; (3) There was a significant difference in students’ engagement before and after using the Science Workstation Strategy; and (4) There are other observed improvements among the students after the use of the Science Workstation Strategy. In conclusion, using the science workstation strategy effectively improved students’ engagement in science and enhance learning experiences. This supports a recommendation in adopting this strategy as teaching method to improve student engagement in science classes.

Abstract

YPPSB is an educational institution that implements 21st century learning by providing technological devices in the form of smart TVs in every classroom, even installing CCTV in junior high school classrooms. Programmed supervision at YPPSB is an effort to manage learning in accordance with educational developments. This phenomenon is the background for research that aims to evaluate the context, input, process, and product of YPPSB's 21st century learning supervision program. This study uses a qualitative approach that describes the learning supervision program with the CIPP model evaluation method (Context, Input, Process, and Product) based on data collection techniques in the form of in-depth interviews, data observation, and analysis of relevant documents. Data analysis techniques are carried out with interactive models including data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data validity checks are carried out with credibility tests including extended observations, increased persistence, triangulation, discussions with colleagues, negative case analysis, and member checks. The results of the context evaluation study explain that the YPPSB Principal conveyed the background, needs, and objectives of supervision verbally to the Teacher in the second week before implementation; the results of the input evaluation explain that YPPSB has supervisor qualifications in accordance with Permendikbudristek No. 40 of 2021 but does not require a code of ethics; the results of the process evaluation explain that YPPSB uses supervision instruments based on the 2007 process standards, carries out a direct contact approach (TK and SD) and collaborative (SMP), with individual techniques; and the results of the product evaluation explain that YPPSB presents reports by collecting supervision instrument documents, not presenting them according to the direction of the Ministry of Education and Culture (2019).

Abstract

Early childhood education (ECED) plays an important role in forming the foundation of children's character and social skills. One of the challenges faced by early childhood education is the lack of integration of entrepreneurial values in the curriculum. In fact, educational entrepreneurship can be an effective approach to creating an inclusive learning environment, encouraging creativity and developing much-needed social skills in the future. Entrepreneurship is not just about business, but involves attitudes, values and the ability to innovate and create something that benefits society. In the context of inclusive education in ECD, the application of entrepreneurship can help children to think creatively, solve problems and work together, which is highly relevant for their social and emotional development. This article examines how educational entrepreneurship can be applied in inclusive ECD classrooms and the role of teachers in creating spaces that support diversity and holistic child development. Through an entrepreneurial approach, it is hoped that more inclusive learning opportunities can be created and have a positive impact on children's life skills, equipping them with independence, confidence and the ability to face future challenges.

Abstract

Skills are an important skill for someone to have to face problems, especially in the 21st century era. Sharpening skills needs to be done from an early age and can be done through various efforts. The aim of this research is to determine the extent to which the implementation of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model has improved the skills of grade 4 students at SDN Durungbedug in making vertical gardens. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with a quantitative approach. The data collection techniques used were tests and observations with data analysis in the form of quantitative descriptive analysis. The subjects in this research were 4th grade students at SDN Durungbedug. The results of the research showed that 6 students got grades with sufficient criteria and 9 students got grades with good criteria in cycle 1, while in cycle 2 it was found that 3 students got grades with good criteria and 12 students got grades with very good criteria. From these results it can be concluded that the application of the Project Based Learning (PjBL) learning model with a project in the form of creating a vertical garden and recycled pots as a planting medium can improve students' skills.

Abstract

School leaders play a critical role in shaping organizational culture and fostering a supportive environment for educators and students. The study delved into the lived experiences of education graduates with leadership positions during the second semester of the school year 2023-2024 in the public schools in one of the city divisions in Misamis Occidental. The study used a qualitative approach, and education graduates were chosen through purposive sampling. In-depth face-to-face interviews through a researcher-made interview guide were conducted. Data were analyzed using HyperResearch software following Moustakas's (1994) Data Analysis Framework. Results unveiled 12 themes: balancing personal, professional, and social responsibilities; implementing programs, policies, and activities; making effective decisions; personal, professional, and social motivations; dealing and adjusting with teachers, students, and school operations; witnessing teachers, students, and school activities succeed; exposure to diverse opportunities; deeper understanding of educational concepts; development of skills and abilities; development of effective leadership traits; personal fulfillment and gratification, and enhancement of teaching and learning process. School leaders navigate their experiences and foster development in education through strategic decision-making, adaptability, and a commitment to passion, driving transformative leadership that enhances personal, academic, and professional growth while fostering environments for success and recognition. Future researchers may consider exploring the strategies employed by school leaders to effectively manage the evolving demands, changes, and trends in 21st-century education.

Abstract

Passing the Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET) demands thorough preparation due to its complexity. This study aimed to identify predictors of LET performance among College of Education graduates. Using a descriptive-correlational design, the researchers analyzed graduates' profiles, academic records, On-the-Job Training scores, and LET results through documentary analysis. Thirty-seven graduates were selected through purposive sampling. Statistical methods included mean, standard deviation, frequency, Percentage, Pearson correlation, and stepwise multiple regression analysis. The study found that graduates' school performance, particularly in teaching competencies, special demonstrations, internships, and General Weighted Average (GWA), was very good. LET performance was also strong in general education, professional education, and major subjects. Significant relationships were identified between LET performance and factors such as special demonstrations, internships, and GWA while teaching competencies had a less consistent impact. The study concluded that school performance, especially GWA, was a significant predictor of LET success in general education, major subjects, and overall performance. Enhancing pre-service academic performance through curriculum improvements, hands-on activities, and targeted support can boost LET outcomes.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the discovery of a unique muroja’ah method that differs from other schools and aims to examine and optimize the memorization abilities of students at MIT Tonoboyo Magelang through the application of this method in tahfizh learning. The objectives of this study are to assess the reading and memorization skills of students at MIT Tonoboyo Magelang, evaluate the methods applied in this learning process, and provide recommendations to enhance students' memorization skills. This research also aims to optimize the abilities to read, memorize, and write the Qur'an by utilizing the muroja’ah method at MIT Tonoboyo Magelang. The focus of this research is on developing students' memorization capabilities and implementing effective methods in tahfizh education. The issues investigated include the level of Qur'an memorization among students, the methods used by teachers in teaching tahfizh, and the challenges faced by students in memorizing the Qur'an. The research method employed is field research, aiming to analyze ways to improve memorization abilities through the implementation of the muroja’ah method. Data were obtained through observations, interviews, and direct practice in the tahfizh learning process at MIT Tonoboyo Magelang. The results of the study indicate that: first, the ability of students at MIT Tonoboyo Magelang to memorize the Qur'an has reached the targets set by the tahfizh teachers; second, although some students struggle with fluency in reciting their memorization, the muroja’ah method can enhance their ability to memorize the Qur'an.
