Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to find out the techniques of self-assessment and peer assessment through the storytelling method as well as the benefits of the storytelling-based self-assessment and friend process for students and teachers. This article uses qualitative research methods to explore a deep understanding of self-assessment and peer judgment based on storytelling. Data were collected through self-assessment and in-depth interviews that allowed researchers to explore the rich perspectives of the participants directly. Data analysis is carried out thematically, by highlighting patterns that emerge from the data and providing a holistic interpretation of the phenomenon being studied. The results of the study show that self-assessment and peer assessment using storytelling in Islamic religious education learning can be done in several steps, namely determining the competencies or aspects to be assessed, determining the assessment criteria to be used, formulating an assessment format, and in the form of assessment guidelines, checklists, or assessment scales, asking students to do self-assessments, teachers reviewing evaluation samples at random,  encourage students to always conduct careful and objective self-assessments. The second technique can be done by providing some narrative questions. In this case, students will be asked to share the results of their assessment in front of teachers and friends in turn

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the application of Value Clarification Technique (VCT) on the democratic attitudes of fourth grade students at SDN Kertajaya IV Surabaya. The method used in this research is Quasi Experimental with Nonequivalent Control Group Design. This study involved two groups of students, namely the experimental group treated using VCT and the control group treated using conventional learning. The research instrument used was a questionnaire to measure students' democratic attitudes before and after treatment. The validity of the instrument was tested through expert judgment and empirical tests, while data analysis was carried out using an independent t test after normality and homogeneity tests were met. The results showed that there was a significant difference in democratic attitudes between the experimental and control groups. The experimental group using VCT showed greater improvement in democratic attitudes than the control group. The average pre-test score of the experimental group was 66.06, which increased to 73.72 in the post-test. While in the control group the average pre-test score was 67.00 and increased slightly to 68.25 in the post-test. Data analysis using the t test showed that the t value was 2.166 with a significance of 0.035 (<0.05), indicating that the use of VCT was significantly more effective in improving students' democratic attitudes than conventional methods. This study concludes that the use of VCT in Civics learning is effective in improving the democratic attitudes of elementary school students. The implementation of VCT can help students understand and internalize democratic values better than conventional learning. Research recommendations include wider application of VCT in Civics education, training for teachers, as well as further research to examine the effectiveness of VCT in various educational contexts.

Abstract

This research is focused on the importance of efforts to strengthen the social competence of lecturers and students in the university environment. More specifically, this study emphasizes the urgency of the principle of religious moderation in enhancing the social competence of lecturers and students, in line with the curriculum policy of independent learning and independent campus (MBKM). As a new paradigm in the world of education, MBKM provides students with the freedom to learn with the aim of creating an inclusive learning environment that is relevant to the needs and demands of the workforce. Through a literature review and qualitative analysis using the Miles Huberman interactive data analysis, which includes three main steps: data condensation, data display, and conclusion/verification, the results indicate that the principles of religious moderation, such as Tawassuth (taking the middle path), Tawāzun (balance), I'tidāl (straightforwardness and firmness), Tasāmuh (tolerance), Musāwah (egalitarianism), and Syurā(consultation), contribute to strengthening the social competence of lecturers and students in implementing the independent curriculum policy. This research provides conceptual insight into creating an inclusive university environment in a diverse society by adopting the principles of moderation. Creating such conditions will make it easier to implement MBKM policy programs.
