Abstract

Pacific whiteleg shrimp is a cultivated commodity with the prospect of increasing market opportunities yearly. The increase in value is in line with the increasing need for pacific whiteleg shrimp consumption. The impact is an increase in state income in general. Pacific whiteleg shrimp cultivation activities have been carried out on a large and small scale. However, proper enlargement production techniques are needed to increase production. This study aims to determine the technique of pacific whiteleg grow-out so that the information obtained can be disseminated to the public and will add value to the benefits of improving welfare. A study case method with a descriptive analysis approach was used. Pacific whiteleg shrimp culture is divided into the hatchery and grow-out sectors. The grow-out activities include pond cleaning, media preparation, fry stocking, feeding, treatment, pest and disease management, growth sampling, and harvesting. Based on the study's results, the production consisted of three cycles per year with a density of 180 m2 an SR value of 85.5%, and an FCR value of 1.25%.

Abstract

This pacific whiteleg shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) enlargement business has the name PT. Mitra Raya Cemerlang was established in 2017 in Koloran Hamlet, Klaseman Village, Gending District, Probolinggo Regency, East Java. This study aims to describe the marketing mix and analyze the business’s financial feasibility. Types of quantitative and qualitative research used a purposive sampling technique. The data analysis method used is marketing mix analysis and business feasibility by calculating short-term and long-term investment criteria. The results of the study indicate that in terms of the marketing mix, it is relatively simple to carry out directly at the place of business. Then in terms of business feasibility, in the short term, it is profitably seen from the R/C Ratio value of 3,785, BEP unit 31,533 kg, and BEP sales Rp. 2,459,591,932.98, and RTC 62.44% while in the long term it is feasible to see from the NPV value of Rp. 36,230,109,107, Net B/C Ratio 4.02, IRR 109%, and PP 1 where the sensitivity level is said to be not too sensitive.

Abstract

Penaeid Shrimp (Crustacea: Decapoda) is an important fishery commodity in human life both in terms of economy, ecology, and nutrition. Penaeid shrimp are widely distributed and abundant on the coast of Merauke and become one of the leading commodities in the fisheries sector. The identification problem in the Penaeid shrimp group is a problem that still often occurs today. Identification problems are often not carried out because they are considered unimportant even though they can be important information for conservation and sustainable management. This study was conducted to identify the Penaeid Shrimp from Payum Beach, Merauke Regency, Papua by using a DNA barcoding approach with the Cytochrome Oxidase I Gene. The results of the analysis showed that the species of specimens was Mierspenaeopsis sculptilis (Heller, 1862) with a similarity level of 97.38%. Genetic distance and level of DNA similarity are very influential in phylogenetic reconstruction. Identification with DNA barcoding has succeeded in identifying species quickly and accurately and can be used to confirm previously identified species based on morphological characters.

Abstract

Remote sensing is one of the effective methods of monitoring mangrove ecosystems. One of the challenges in implementing this method is image resolution. Access to large-resolution imagery as a basic material for spatial analysis is not cheap. Unmanned small aircraft systems (SPUKTA) or drones are able to answer these challenges. Orthophotos obtained from the acquisition of drones are capable of producing large-resolution imagery. This method is then implemented in conservation areas, to facilitate the process of identifying mangrove species in the area. The drone was flown at an altitude of 150 m with a pavement value of 85% for 4 flying missions. The result of processing 1614 aerial photos into orthophotos produced images with a GSD resolution of 4.75 cm/pix. These images are then analyzed with on-screen digitization techniques and visual interpretation. From the total area of the study area of 46.48 ha obtained the digitization results of Rhizophora sp. with a total area of 24.68 ha, Avicennia sp. 7.64 ha, dead mangroves 0.19 ha, and non-vegetation 13.97 ha.

Abstract

Many studies on the Mentawai tsunami have been carried out. Still, not many have reviewed the validation of run-up height compared to the results of field studies in the same year as the Mentawai tsunami on October 25, 2010. The survey of the Mentawai tsunami reconstruction using COMCOT v1.7 aims to validate The tsunami run-up height of the model output was compared with the results of the field study by the GITST Team in 2010. Validation of the model was carried out using the Aida parameter, by calculating the ratio of the comparison between the model output and the field study results. The study location of the model is divided into 3 layers, namely layer01 covering Sipora Island, North Pagai Island, and South Pagai Island, layer02 covering North Pagai Island and South Pagai Island, and layer03 with the focus of observation on Sibigau Island, with bathymetric resolution used for each layer. 464 m, 232 m, and 77 m so that the propagation at the observation site can be seen clearly. The height of the modeled tsunami ranged from 2.5 – 11.2 meters, with a maximum run-up height observed on Sibigau Island of 11.2 meters, and the time range for the tsunami arriving on land was 5 – 15 minutes. The comparison ratio between the model results and the field study is K = 0.9 and k (standard deviation) = 0.16. Based on the comparison ratio, the model output is close to the actual result.

Abstract

Skipjack fish is a prima donna for Sorong City, West Papua fishing communities. In general, the people of Sorong City process skipjack into smoked fish. The smoking process is carried out using traditional techniques where the smoke source is in direct contact with the raw material, thus significantly affecting the appearance of smoked fish. Using mangosteen rind extract, carried out with a precipitating process before the fish is smoked, will give a more attractive color and appearance. The mangosteen rind extract used can be used as a natural coloring agent to give fish a more attractive color when smoked traditionally. This study aims to determine the effect of mangosteen rind extract on the sensory quality of smoked skipjack and determine the best concentration of mangosteen rind extract on smoked skipjack products. This study uses an experimental method where the research is carried out by giving treatment to the object of research with 3 treatments, 15 panelists, and tested using the Kruskal Wallis test. Statistically, the addition of mangosteen rind extract to smoked skipjack products significantly affected the product's sensory value, and the best sensory test of smoked skipjack products with the addition of mangosteen rind extract was in treatment A2 and the lowest was in treatment A0.
