Journal Software, Hardware, and Information Technology (SHIFT) is an academic journal published in January and June by State Islamic University Alauddin of Makassar and managed by Department of Information System, Faculty of Science and Technology. The journal publish scholarly articles on the scope of Computer Architecture; Virtual/Augmented Reality; Computer Security, Software Engineering (Software: Lifecycle, Management, Engineering Process, Engineering Tools and Methods); etc. Every manuscript submitted to Journal SHIFT is independently reviewed by at least two reviewers in the form of "peer-review". It is due to increase the quality of articles. Decision for publication, amendment, or rejection is mostly based upon their reports/recommendation. In certain cases, the editor may submit an article for review to another, third reviewer before making a decision, if necessary. The Editorial Team, however, reserves the right to make the final decision on the status of the manuscript with regard to publication.

Abstract

This research presents comprehensive results in various forms such as images, graphs, tables, etc., to facilitate a profound understanding of the developed transmitter-receiver simulation using p5.js. Each component, including setting the canvas, dynamic display, user interaction, binary conversion, transmitter and receiver objects, simulation reset, and testing and evaluation, is thoroughly discussed in separate subsections. A comparative analysis with previous studies is incorporated for enhanced context. The testing phase not only validates the simulation's functionality and accuracy but also emphasizes its role as a potent educational tool. The successful execution of the experiment attests to the codebase's robustness, confirming its ability to effectively illustrate digital communication fundamentals. The visualization of binary signals enhances the project's educational dimension, transforming intricate concepts into an accessible, interactive learning experience. Future testing and refinements present exciting opportunities to augment user experience and extend simulation capabilities. This positive outcome establishes a solid foundation for the program's educational utility, making it a valuable resource for imparting digital communication knowledge. In conclusion, the validated transmitter-receiver simulation marks a significant milestone, combining functionality, visual representation, and potential enhancements. Positioned as an innovative educational technology, it fosters curiosity and understanding in learners exploring digital communication nuances.

Abstract

Automatic parking registration has become a focal point in the research and development of modern urban transportation systems. In this context, image-based vehicle license plate recognition plays a vital role in facilitating efficient and accurate parking registration processes. This research aims to develop an image-based vehicle license plate recognition system for automatic parking registration applications using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) technology. The methods employed include vehicle image acquisition, image preprocessing, license plate segmentation, text extraction using OCR, and license plate character recognition. Testing was conducted using a dataset of vehicle images captured under various lighting conditions and angles. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system is capable of recognizing vehicle license plates with a high level of accuracy, even under varying lighting conditions and distorted license plates. Implementation of this system is expected to enhance efficiency in automatic parking registration and reduce manual involvement in the process.

Abstract

Pharmacy product searches are becoming increasingly important in the context of public health needs. In this digital era, users are often faced with challenges in finding pharmacy products that suit their preferences and needs. In this research, we explore the implementation of multi-criteria methods in pharmacy product searches to increase relevance and search efficiency. Developing a pharmacy product search system that utilizes multi-criteria methods to consider various factors such as description, efficacy, price, availability. Through the integration of this method, the system can present search results that are more personalized and relevant to users. Evaluation of system performance through practical trials and found that the use of multi-criteria methods can improve the quality of pharmacy product search services. This research contributes to the development of more sophisticated and effective pharmacy product search technology, as well as increasing user satisfaction in meeting their health needs

Abstract

Online learning has become an integral part of higher education in today's digital era, especially following the COVID-19 pandemic. Video conferencing (Vicon) technology plays a crucial role in this transition, enabling direct interaction between teachers and students without the need for physical presence in the classroom. This study aims to analyze the use of Vicon features in the context of online learning and its impact on the smoothness of the learning process. Data were collected through a questionnaire administered to students of the Faculty of Computer Science at UPN Veteran Jawa Timur, with the System Usability Scale (SUS) method employed for calculation. The collected data were then qualitatively analyzed to determine the effectiveness of Vicon use by identifying usage patterns, obstacles faced, and student perceptions of its impact on the learning process. Analysis of the SUS scores, usage patterns, challenges, and student perceptions revealed a low average SUS value. This indicates that while Vicon facilitates direct interaction and effective material delivery, there are still significant technical obstacles and low participation rates. These findings suggest the need for improvements in the technical aspects of Vicon and strategies to increase student engagement in online learning environments.

Abstract

This research aims to create an electronic circuit to detect ammonia gas levels using the MQ-135 sensor, making it easier for farmers to detect ammonia gas levels, which can hinder the growth of broiler chickens if too high. The research was conducted at the Karang-karangan Village Broiler Chicken Farm. This type of research uses Research and Development (R&D) for the manufacture and design of ammonia gas detection equipment on farms. The application of the ammonia gas detector consists of several steps: data collection, system analysis, design, manufacture, and system testing. The problem that occurs in broiler farms is farmers' ignorance of ammonia gas levels before spraying. The research results show that the detection tool can be used well, and farmers can easily operate it. Farmers must first find out the ammonia gas levels on the farm before spraying disinfectant, and if the sensor detects levels exceeding the normal safe limit, the buzzer will sound and display the value on the LCD screen.

Abstract

In today's digital era, the security of the user identification system must be considered, therefore the use of blockchain technology can be utilized in such a way. Blockchain is a dynamic and interactive computer program to support solving problems in identifying users. Apart from that, blockchain technology can be used to secure data which is now very vulnerable to viruses in computers or networks. Blockchain technology provides a solution by providing a strong and reliable information security system. Blockchain technology can be used to ensure the integrity and validity of stored data. This can be done by storing data in blocks that are connected to each other and using encryption to maintain privacy. In addition, the decentralized system in blockchain technology makes it difficult to change or delete by irresponsible parties. Blockchain technology is very suitable for increasing the security of user identification systems, in this research the author found other research related to blockchain technology which is useful for data security, therefore the author invites readers to use blockchain technology for the security of user identification systems and data security.

Abstract

Data security is an important aspect in information management, especially in business transactions involving sensitive data such as financial reports. This study aims to apply the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 128-bit cryptographic algorithm to transaction report data at Kopi Tuku. AES 128-bit was chosen because of its ability to provide strong and efficient data encryption, with a high level of security and adequate processing speed. In this study, transaction data was taken from the Kopi Tuku sales system and encrypted using AES 128-bit to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access. The encryption and decryption processes were tested to ensure data integrity and security. The results showed that the implementation of AES 128-bit successfully maintained the confidentiality and security of transaction data without reducing system performance. This study concludes that the AES 128-bit algorithm is an effective solution to improve transaction data security in the coffee industry, especially in small and medium-sized businesses such as Kopi Tuku.

Abstract

The Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH) serves a pivotal role in facilitating access to various legal products. This study aims to design and develop a web-based JDIH service using the Laravel framework, implemented at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Halu Oleo University. Laravel was selected for its efficiency, ease of management, and support for a Model-View-Controller (MVC) architecture suitable for structured legal information systems. The development process follows the Waterfall methodology, encompassing stages of requirements analysis, system design, implementation, and testing. The research resulted in a JDIH web application designed to facilitate legal information retrieval. The application includes features such as account management, regulatory documentation, abstracts, categories, tags, publication years, and document search and download functionality, accessible to the public. The system is administered by two user types: full-access administrators and sub-administrators with restricted management rights for legal content. Black-box testing confirms that all application features and functionalities perform according to specified requirements. This application is expected to enhance the management and retrieval of legal information within the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, contributing to more efficient access and dissemination of legal resources

Abstract

This study aims to develop an expert system for stress management that integrates individual personality types using the Certainty Factor (CF) method. Stress management refers to an individual’s response to stress, influenced by their personality type, which determines the effectiveness of coping strategies. The CF method quantifies the confidence level in the decisions made by the system. The expert system identifies personality types based on user responses to a questionnaire or test, subsequently providing tailored stress management recommendations. The system was developed using the Waterfall methodology, incorporating CF analysis, Black Box Testing, accuracy evaluation, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The system accommodates four personality types and 94 traits, allowing users to select traits they identify with, each carrying a weight to determine personality classification. Black Box Testing confirmed the functionality of all features. Accuracy analysis yielded a result of 62.16%, reflecting the system’s moderate precision in diagnosing personality types. UAT results scored 87.18%, categorized as “good,” indicating strong user acceptance and satisfaction. This system demonstrates the potential for assisting individuals in managing stress effectively by aligning strategies with their personality profiles.

Abstract

In the current era of globalization, technology and communication are developing rapidly so that everything is practical and fast. Modern technology offers an online ordering system. However, there are still event organizers, especially in the Pangkalpinang area, whose systems are still manual. In general, consumers have to make a date first to order an event organizer. Based on the discussion above, the aim of the author's research is to create an event organizer booking system using the Website-Based Waterfall Method. This is so that it can be accessed easily using a smartphone. Research data was collected by conducting interviews with event organizers and direct observation at the target location. This system design has 2 actors, namely the buyer and the admin. Based on the results of research and analysis carried out by the author, this waterfall development model provides a structured system framework for designing the development of an event organizer booking system
