Abstract

Writing skill is an ability to share an idea in written text based on the genre of the text, the rapid writing strategy is one of appropriate strategy to make a good paragraph especially in descriptive text because most of the participants are from rural area and different writing achievements. The aim of this research is to investigate the procedure of the rapid writing strategy behaves in the teaching-learning of writing skill. Researcher descriptively used the qualitative method that specifically uses a case study design by observing the field via Whats App platform. The instrument of this research is observation checklist and taking notes to get a complete data either from personal or group Whats App. The teacher and students activities inside and outside the class becomes a primary source of data.  Results, the rapid writing strategy is a fast writing practice strategy without paying attention to what has been written in advance so that writing is completed quickly and completely the rapid writing strategy helps students explore writing more without worrying about grammatical accuracy, content and vocabulary for students to do tasks in descriptive text. Abstract

Alat peraga merupakan bagian dari media pembelajaran yang diartikan sebagai semua benda (dapat berupa manusia, objek atau benda mati) sebagai perantara di mana digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Tujuan pada prinsip dasar penggunaan media pembelajaran yakni memperjelas instrumen yang disampaikan, dapat merangsang pikiran, perhatian, dan kemampuan siswa, harus dapat meningkatkan efektifitas dan kelancaran proses belajar, terutama dalam memperjelas materi yang dipelajari, sehingga pada akhirnya mempercepatproses perubahan tingkah laku pada siswa.  Hal ini bisa dilakukan dengan adanya pelatihan pada guru MI Miftahul Ulum Bragang Klampis. Kegiatan Pengabdian akan dilaksanakan melalui beberapa tahapan pelaksanaan kegiatan, diantaranya: Persiapan dan Pembekalan, Pelaksanaan, dan Rencana Keberlanjutan Program. Setelah diadakan pelatihan guru mampu memberi solusi alternatif untuk menanggulangi kendala yang menghambat terlaksananya kegiatan pembelajaran di MI Miftahul Ulum Bragang Klampis.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to reveal the types of social aspects in the short story "Perempua Pala" by Azhari and to reveal the phenomena that exist in the short story "Perempuan Pala" by Azhari which is a reflection of social phenomena in the real world toward Acehnese society when the Dutch colonized and new regime reign. This study used a qualitative approach and uses the concept of character and characterization as well as the mimetic theory to reveal phenomena that exist in the story. Data collection techniques used in this research is documentation, i.e. library documentation. With the steps; read the text carefully, symbolized the data, and recorded the data that related to the focus of research. The data source of this research is short story "Perempuan Pala" by Azhari published by AKY Press in 2004. In line with the purpose of research, the results of this research is revealed, that there are four types of social aspects in the short story "Perempuan Pala" by Azhari, as follows: (1) the suffering of Acehnese society in the Dutch colonial era, (2) Conflict of Acehnese society, (3) Independence of Acehnese society, and (4) The peace of Acehnese society. Phenomena that occurred in the short story "Perempuan Pala" by Azhari is a reflection of a real phenomenon that occurs in Acehnese society that stricken a long conflict from Dutch colonial era until the new regime reign. Mala wishes a peace created on Aceh Earth, violence and oppression come to the end so that Acehnese society can feel the peace and freedom, which in the end, the men came down from the mountain. Government of the regime also wanted to create peace in Aceh. With the efforts made by the government through a persuasive approach to the Acehnese and negotiations were conducted with high-ranking of GAM, eventually the peace created on Aceh Earth.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are to reveal the causes of aggressive attitudes toward Judith Richardson (JR) in Street Kid by Judy Westwater. This research used qualitative approach that seen from literary psychology point of view, using collecting data method such as documentation with descriptive technique and content analysis. The research data focuses to the causes of aggressive attitudes toward JR. Related to the aims of research, analysis result show that the causes of aggressive attitude toward JR consist of two factors, there are (a) environment and (b) poverty. That is related to the trait of the characters that has intention to do aggression and that intention will be actualized with an action so JR as the target felt the aggression attitude.

Abstract

Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk memberikan pelatihan pembuatan media pembelajaran sebagai alternatif dalam meningkatkan pembelajran dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran di UPTD SDN 1 Kamal kabupaten Bangkalan selama kegiatan pelaksanaan. Tahapan-tahapan dalam kegiatan ini 1) Idenfitikasi Masalah, 2) Alur Kegiatan Pelatihan 3) Persiapan Program 4) Pelatihan. Kegiatan dilakukan memberikan pelatihan bagaimana membuat dan sekaligus penerapan media pembelajaran Mini Zoo. Guru yang telah mengikuti rangkaian kegiatan diminta merespon dan saran untuk keberlanjutan kegiatan ini serta manfaat dari kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat yang telah dilakukan. Pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini diharapkan dapat menambah pengetahuan, keterampilan dan lebih percaya diri guru untuk berkarya dan menciptakan media pembelajaran baru khususnya bagi guru untuk meningkatkan proses pembelajaran menjadi lebih diminati oleh siswa. Juga dapat memotivasi dan meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa.

Abstract

Beberapa permasalahan yang kadang dilupakan oleh beberapa para calon guru (pre-service teacher) adalah kurang kreatif nya mereka dalam menggunakan beberapa media yang ada. pada Program ini, kami mengupakan untuk mengenalkan beberapa permainan edukatif yang bisa dan dapat mereka (pre-service teacher) gunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Metode kegiatan yang dilaksanakan dalam program Pengabdian masyarakat ini dalam bentuk penyuluhan/pelatihan terkait permainan edukatif yang dapat membantu para calon guru (pre-service teacher)  membentuk dan menjadikan para peserta didik yang berkarakter. Permainan edukasi dalam pembelajaran baik online maupun offline dapat membantu preservice teacher untuk memotivasi siswa dalam proses pembelajaran.  namun kita harus dapat memahami bahwa pemilihan

Abstract

The aims of this research is to improve the students’ reading skill of the Tenth grade of SMAN 4 Bangkalan by using comic strips in webtoon application. This research is collaborative classroom action research. It aimed to discover and put into action various reading skills improving measures. The research procedure was an action research that consisted of four key phases: planning, implementing/ acting, observing, and reflecting. The researcher and teacher collaboratively recognized certain obstacles andweaknesses of the reading learning process, identified some problems, and planned and carried out the proposed actions. The result of the cycle shows that the implementation of comic strip improves the students’ reading skill, especially understanding the content of the text, vocabulary mastery, and motivation to read by providing the students kinds of reading activities. The success indicator of the implementation were that (1) the students were able to understand the content of the English text, by finding the main idea and specific information, (2) the students were more enthusiastic in doing reading activities, and (3) the students vocabulary mastery was improved. Furthermore, the findings were also supported by the means of the students’ reading score which improved from 62 in preliminary test to 76 in cycle test.

Abstract

The research aimed at improving the listening skill of The Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 4 Bangkalan by using “Smile Squad videos” as learning media. It aimed to find and implement some actions to improve the listening skills. The research method was collaborative classroom action research, which was a dynamic and complementary process that included four important steps: planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. The researcher and teacher collaborated together to identify hurdles and weaknesses in the listening learning process, identify certain issues, and plan and implement the proposed measures. The first cycle's findings showed that students' listening skills increased as a result of extensive listening exercise. It was also discovered that watching the “Smile Squads videos” more frequently can help them improve their English. Students steadily improve their ability to detect more spoken English words, distinguish the similar pronunced words and find information from a conversation. The indicators of the success of the implementation were: (1) the students were more enthusiastic in doing listening activities; and (2) the students’ listening skill was improved. Furthermore, the findings were also supported by the means of the students’ listening score which improved from 58 in the preliminary study test to 80 in the cycle test.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the feasibility of implementing flascards in teaching riting skills. The qualitative descriptive was used in this study by using content analysis. The technique of obtaining data used documentation. The data were analyzed by coding, displaying, and making verification. The data analysis was carried out in depth by using some theories related to the flashcards in teaching writing skills. The results of the study indicate the interrelation of the implementation and responses of the students in using flashcards. The flashcards is very helpful for students in learning to writing English because it is based on the examples given and they have learnt identifying patterns in writing skill. By seeing some journals stated that using Flashcard can improve writing skills and knowledge of vocabularies. Furthermore, it is suggested that flashcards can be effectively used in writing class.

Abstract

The inductive-deductive learning model is a learning model begins by giving examples with the aim that students can identify, differentiate, then interpret, generalize and finally draw conclusions. The objective of this study is to know the students perception to the application of Deductive and Inductive learning in Basic Grammar. The method that writer use is a qualitative research. Subject of the research are students at second semester of English Department. The result of the study showed there are 4% (2 students) answer strongly disagree, 12% (4 students) disagree, 21% (7 students) agree, 29% (10 students) agree and like this statement, and 34% (11 students) strongly agree using deductive and inductive learning.
