Abstract

Abstract. This final project aims to examine the association between corporate social responsibility (CSR) expenses and capital structure throughout the corporate life cycle in Indonesian listed companies. This research develops a hypothesis that are tested empirically through multivariate settings with robust standard errors. The tests are conducted using a sample of 527 Indonesian listed firms and 901 firm-year observations between 2010 and 2015. The findings support the hypothesis that CSR expenses are inversely related with debt to equity ratio throughout their life cycle. For investors, to invest in firms that have high CSR expense, high retained earnings and more matured firms with lower growth rate would indicate that the firm tends to keep lower debt to equity ratio over its life cycle which may be a factor to be considered when choosing an investment. For firm managers, disclosing the CSR expenditures transparently might help investors to be able to make considerations on whether or not to invest in the firm.. To the best of the author’s knowledge, there is thin literature investigating the relation between CSR and capital structure throughout corporate life cycle in emerging markets and its urgency as it may encourage companies to integrate CSR practice into their business strategy and transparently disclose their CSR activities. This final project contributes to the existing literature by examining these topics in a country where CSR is mandatory by the law. Keywords: Indonesia, Corporate social responsibility, Capital structure, Corporate life cycle

Abstract

Abstract. Despite having a large number of citizens, Indonesia has a relatively low number of doctors compared to other countries in Southeast Asia. Each year, the number of general practitioners keep decreasing despite the increasing number of medical students. There is an indication that there could be a turnover in the medical field. Turnover itself is known to be caused by high burnout and low engagement at work yet the healthcare industry is known to have both high work engagement and high burnout level. The Medical School of Airlangga University has been one of the biggest contributors in terms of numbers for the general practitioner in Indonesia. However, the number of doctors inaugurated have been stagnant despite the increasing number of undergraduate students. It indicates that something may happen in the process in between which is the co-assistant stage. Due to that reason, this research is aimed to find the influence of job burnout and work engagement toward turnover intention among co-assistant doctors. This study found that both job burnout and work engagement have a significant effect on turnover intention. Even so, it turns out that having a high dedication can help reduce turnover intention the most. As a result, it is recommended for the related institution to allow personal development, and create a supportive work environment as well as providing a social spot. Keywords: Job Burnout, Work Engagement, Turnover Intention, Co-Assistant Doctors.

Abstract. Adopting mobile cloud computing (MCC) is expected to be one of the superior approaches to improving college student’s performance. The purpose of this research is to investigate students’ personality traits in regard to technology readiness toward MCC acceptance. The author use Technology Readiness and Acceptance Model (TRAM). The study used an online questionnaire to collect 400 valid responses from active students from universities in Indonesia. Path Analysis was utilized to analyze the collected data. The findings indicate that Indonesian college students are optimistic, innovative, comfortable, but technology insecure. Optimism and Innovativeness are the driving force behind the adoption of technology, and Insecurity is an obstacle of technology adoption for them. The major findings of this study also reveal that four personality traits of technology readiness have different effects on perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use about MCC. This research proves that personality influences the adoption of technology. This research suggest universities and other student’s organizations must be aware of this relationship when initiating the implementation of technology. Keywords: Mobile Cloud Computing (MCC), Indonesian College Student, Technology Readiness (TR), Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), Technology Readiness and Acceptance Model (TRAM).
