Abstract

The objectives this research to know implementation of audio storytelling to teach listening skill in class tenth at SMK Negeri 2 Trenggalek. The research design qualitative research and the type is case study because this research based on phenomenon. This research used two instruments: observation sheet and interview. Observation sheet was used by the researcher to observe the teaching activity and interview was used to find in-depth information by the teacher about the use of storytelling as media in teaching activity. Observation sheet consisted of 6 statements based on techniques of teaching audio storytelling and lesson plan. The findings shows that the implementation of learning using audio story telling in listening has met the criteria expected by the researcher. In interview, researcher gave 6 questions to the teacher. The result shows that audio story telling can be implemented to teach listening skill in tenth grade at SMKN 2 Trenggalek.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to know if there is significant effect of using Quizlet toward student vocabulary mastery. This research was using quasi-experimental research with two types of variable. First variable was the application of Quizlet as the independent variable while the second variable was the vocabulary mastery as the dependent variable. The samples in this research are students of eleventh grade at SMA Negeri 2 Trenggalek they were MIPA 2 as experimental group and MIPA 5 as control group. The experimental group was using Quizlet as learning media while the control group was not. The instrument was to collect the data of this research by pre-test and post-test. After the data was collected, the researcher analyzed the data by using independent sample t-test. Based on test the Sig. (2-tailed) of post-test were 0.000 <0.05, than as the basic rules of making independent sample t-test, it can be concluded that H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a significant difference between the average student learning outcomes in the experimental group and the control group. So, Quizlet application is an effective learning media for students' vocabulary mastery

Abstract

The objective of the research is to know how Town Map can improve the tenth-grade students’ ability of writing descriptive text at SMA Negeri 2 Trenggalek in the academic year 2012/2013. The research design used was collaborative action research. This research was conducted in two cycles and each cycle was divided into four stages, they are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of this study were students of class X-G in the academic year 2012/2013 which consisted of 35 students. The research instruments used were tests, questionnaires, observation sheets, and field notes. Data collected with observation sheets were analyzed qualitatively, while data collected by tests and questionnaires were analyzed quantitatively. The result of this research showed that the use of Town Map can improve the writing ability of X-G class students of SMA Negeri 2 Trenggalek in writing descriptive text. This can be seen from the increase of the percentage in the pre-test, post-test in cycle one, and post-test in cycle two. The results of the pre-test showed that only 10 students (29%) out of 35 students successfully passed the writing test. Then, in the first post-test cycle there were 17 (49%) of 35 students passed and 30 students (86%) of 35 students succeeded and had achieved the success criteria in the second cycle.

Abstract

Teaching English for young learner is not a simple thing. They need different treatment in learning new things especially new language. Some teachers use games, videos, songs, etc. The researcher made an animated movie about “Numbers”. It can be used to teach first grade students to learn Numbers in English from one to ten. The researcher wants to know whether the video made is effective or not to teach first grade students in Starlight Tuition. The result is animated video is effective to teach vocabulary especial “Numbers” to young learner.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to develop A Thematic Integrated English Vocabulary Glossary for EYL In Trenggalek as a book/guideline for English language learning based on the 2013 curriculum of PAUD at PAUD level. This research uses R&D research design, a research design aimed at developing educational products, such as curriculum, syllabus, books, instructional media, etc. The B class student of BA Aisyiyah Suruh in 2018/2019 academic year consist of 12 students; 5 students of female and 7 students of male students. The researcher used questionnaire and interview as instrument of the research. The data obtained from questionnaires are analyzed quantitatively, while interview data is analyzed qualitatively. The products have been developed based on the needs of students, teachers, and parents, studying theory of R&D, studying theory of thematic learning, studying theory of vocabulary, studying theory of glossary and studying theory of EYL. The product has been developed through five steps of development. Based on the result of students' needs, its score was 78%, then student parents score was 774, and the result of teacher interviews showed that the teachers needed this product. It shows that all respondents agree that they need this product as a book/guideline in thematic English learning complying with the 2013 curriculum of PAUD. Meanwhile, the result of field testing the product of the students showed a percentage of 92%, 785 scores of students’ parents’ feedback, and positive responses to the teacher’s interviews. It indicates that the product of this research results is feasible to be used as a book/guideline for English language learning based on the 2013 curriculum of PAUD at PAUD level.

Abstract

Errors in writing are often made by the writers. It is commonly occurred to the learners of second language. The research aims to know the college students’ error in writing a paragraph. The researcher focused on finding the errors category and cause of the errors made by the students. The subjects investigated were the students of English Education Study Program of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek who joined Paragraph Writing subject. The design utilized in the research was qualitative research. It was included into content analysis during the data analyzed was the document of students’ writing work. The result of analyzing showed that the errors made by the students could be classified into four categories: omission, additions, misformation and misordering. Meanwhile, the students’ errors were caused both of inter-lingual and intra-lingual. Based on the result of the research, it is recommended to the teacher for learning more about L1 and L2. It is also suggested that the other researcher to conduct research with different design of error analysis

Abstract

English is one of compulsory subject which is taught in Indonesian school, and reading is one of language skills that is almost dominant in teaching learning process. This research was conducted to improve the students’ reading comprehension through two stay two stray technique. The research design which used is Collaborative Classroom Action Research. This research was done in to two cycles. In the post-test first cycle there were 32% students who passed the test, and in the post-test second cycle there were 84% students who passed the test. From the data above it can be concluded that the implementation of Two Stay Two Stray technique can improve students’ reading comprehension of narrative text

Abstract

English is a language that used to communicate around the world. The goal of learning English for the students is to be able to communicate in English. The objective of this research is to see the significant effect of comic strips to adjective mastery of first grade students at SMP Negeri 1 Boyolangu. This research has a quantitative, pre-experimental design with pre and post-tests for one group. The statistic shows mean of pre-test (39.7222%) and post-test (83.4722%). This research took 36 students as sample. The results reveal that the mean for the pre-test and post-tests is (-43.750), the standard deviation is (27.318), and the standard error mean is (4.553). The t-test result was (-9.609), with a df of 35 and a significance level of 0.000. The t-test result demonstrates that the significant value in the computation is 0.000 lower than 0.05. It means that the alternative hypothesis was accepted and the null hypothesis was rejected. It implies that the students’ score would be greater if comic strips had been used in their instruction.

Abstract

The research was conducted in Reading for General Communication Class for first semester students of English Education Study Program of STKIP PGRI Trenggalek. The purpose of the research was to implement clustering and paraphrasing to help students comprehend the passage of descriptive paragraph. To get the data, the researchers used observation checklist, test and questionnaire. The test was formed in paraphrasing of passage given. The questionnaire was delivered to get information about the students’ responses during the use of clustering in learning reading. Based on the students’ work, it shows that their reading comprehension was good after the use of clustering. The average of their paraphrasing was 82.34. The questionnaire’ result also indicates that the students gave positive and good response during the use of clustering. It assisted them to get the idea of the paragraph and expressed in their paraphrase.

Abstract

To improve students’ language ability, grammar is a crucial language element. While writing their essays, many students still commit grammatical mistakes. This study was run in the first semester students of Hospital Administration, Faculty of Health in the 2022/2023 academic year, which aimed at: 1. Finding out the types of common errors in composing sentences, 2. Finding out the causes of errors. The method applied in this research was error analysis, through these steps: 1. Identifying data of errors 2. Classifying errors based on theory of grammar 3. Analyzing errors. The data were taken by conducting a multiple-choice test about completing sentences with the right grammar construction. The data were analyzed with qualitative method. The result showed that there were errors in composing sentence with Modal Verbs, Adverb, Reported Speech, Preposition and Conditional Sentence. Those common errors were caused by both inter-lingual and intra-lingual references.
