Abstract

This community service program was conducted to address environmental issues and nighttime safety concerns in Sasak Panjang Village through the synergy of greening initiatives and street-lighting improvements. The main objective was to enhance environmental quality, comfort, and residents’ sense of security using a community-based participatory approach. The methods included public outreach, mapping priority locations, planting shade trees, and installing energy-efficient street lights in collaboration with village officials and community groups. The results show increased vegetation density in public areas, reduced dark and vulnerable spots, and greater evening community activities. The integration of both programs effectively strengthened village sustainability by improving living-space quality and fostering social interaction. These findings highlight that collaboration between the community and village government is essential for achieving sustainable development at the local level.

Abstract

Nutritional problems in Indonesia remain a major challenge, particularly in the form of stunting, wasting, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies. One effort to address these issues is by improving the competency of nutrition students, especially in nutritional status assessment and the use of nutritional analysis software. This community service aimed to enhance students' skills in accurate anthropometric measurements and mastery of the WHO Anthro Plus and NutriSurvey applications. The activity included lectures, hands-on practice, discussions, and evaluations. The results showed improved students' ability in conducting nutritional assessments and utilizing software for data interpretation. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, although technical issues related to equipment and software were encountered. The evaluation concluded that the activity was effective in enhancing students’ competence and is recommended for sustainable implementation. Nutritional problems in Indonesia remain a major challenge, particularly in the form of stunting, wasting, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies. Abstract

This awareness raising activity regarding chickenpox (varicella) awareness was conducted due to the high rate of transmission of this disease, especially in children, as well as the still low public knowledge about its symptoms, prevention, and treatment. This community service aimed to improve the understanding of mothers at the Sakura Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) through direct education. The methods used included a pre-test, material delivery using leaflets, interactive discussions, and a post-test to measure knowledge gains. The activity was attended by 15 participants. The results showed that before the counseling, some participants were in the poor knowledge category (53.33%), but after the counseling, all participants (100%) were in the good category. This improvement proves that health education is effective in improving public understanding of varicella. The results of this activity are important as a basis for efforts to prevent chickenpox transmission in the family and community environment.

Abstract

Stunting remains one of the major nutritional problems in Indonesia, particularly in rural areas. Efforts to prevent stunting need to be carried out through nutrition education and the utilization of local food resources available in the community. This study/community service aims to introduce and implement the Formula Sehat Recipe Booklet as a nutrition education medium based on local food in Kainbaun Village. The methods used include socialization, cooking demonstrations, and family assistance in processing local food ingredients into balanced nutritious menus. The booklet contains simple recipes with adequate protein, vitamins, and minerals tailored to the needs of children and pregnant women. The results of the activity showed an increase in community knowledge regarding the importance of balanced nutrition, as well as skills in processing local food into healthy meals. Thus, Formula Sehat through this recipe booklet is expected to serve as a practical and sustainable strategy to prevent stunting in Kainbaun Village.
