Abstract

This community service program was conducted to address environmental issues and nighttime safety concerns in Sasak Panjang Village through the synergy of greening initiatives and street-lighting improvements. The main objective was to enhance environmental quality, comfort, and residents’ sense of security using a community-based participatory approach. The methods included public outreach, mapping priority locations, planting shade trees, and installing energy-efficient street lights in collaboration with village officials and community groups. The results show increased vegetation density in public areas, reduced dark and vulnerable spots, and greater evening community activities. The integration of both programs effectively strengthened village sustainability by improving living-space quality and fostering social interaction. These findings highlight that collaboration between the community and village government is essential for achieving sustainable development at the local level.

Abstract

Nutritional problems in Indonesia remain a major challenge, particularly in the form of stunting, wasting, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies. One effort to address these issues is by improving the competency of nutrition students, especially in nutritional status assessment and the use of nutritional analysis software. This community service aimed to enhance students' skills in accurate anthropometric measurements and mastery of the WHO Anthro Plus and NutriSurvey applications. The activity included lectures, hands-on practice, discussions, and evaluations. The results showed improved students' ability in conducting nutritional assessments and utilizing software for data interpretation. Participants demonstrated high enthusiasm, although technical issues related to equipment and software were encountered. The evaluation concluded that the activity was effective in enhancing students’ competence and is recommended for sustainable implementation. Nutritional problems in Indonesia remain a major challenge, particularly in the form of stunting, wasting, obesity, and micronutrient deficiencies. Abstract

This awareness raising activity regarding chickenpox (varicella) awareness was conducted due to the high rate of transmission of this disease, especially in children, as well as the still low public knowledge about its symptoms, prevention, and treatment. This community service aimed to improve the understanding of mothers at the Sakura Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) through direct education. The methods used included a pre-test, material delivery using leaflets, interactive discussions, and a post-test to measure knowledge gains. The activity was attended by 15 participants. The results showed that before the counseling, some participants were in the poor knowledge category (53.33%), but after the counseling, all participants (100%) were in the good category. This improvement proves that health education is effective in improving public understanding of varicella. The results of this activity are important as a basis for efforts to prevent chickenpox transmission in the family and community environment.

Abstract

The majority of children affected by dental caries reside in middle-income countries. Dental caries is the most common oral health problem, affecting 2 billion people with permanent teeth and 514 million children with primary teeth. This condition can negatively impact children’s quality of life, including eating, sleeping, and learning. To improve children’s knowledge of oral health, a structured and continuous intervention was implemented using puppet stage promotive media and proper toothbrushing techniques. The approach included community education, technology and science diffusion (IPTEKS), and practical training. Among 23 children, prior to the intervention, 10 children (43.5%) were categorized as good and 13 children (56.5%) as adequate. Following the intervention, 18 children (78.2%) were classified as good and 5 children (21.8%) as adequate. Statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.001, indicating a significant improvement in knowledge. These results demonstrate that puppet stage promotive media, delivered through a structured educational approach, effectively enhances children’s understanding of oral health and promotes healthy behaviors from an early age.

Abstract

Violence against women and children remains a serious issue in Banyumas Regency, exacerbated by limited legal awareness and inadequate community-based legal assistance capacity. This condition highlights the need for community empowerment through strengthening the role of women’s organizations at the grassroots level. This community service program aims to empower members of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah Banyumas through paralegal training to enhance legal understanding and initial legal assistance capacity for women and children. A participatory approach was employed, including material enrichment, group discussions, group dynamics, and role-playing activities. The results indicate an improvement in participants’ understanding of paralegal concepts, women’s and children’s rights, and basic legal procedures for handling cases of violence. Furthermore, the training increased participants’ readiness to act as initial legal companions and strengthened the organizational role of Nasyiatul Aisyiyah as a community-based legal protection actor. This program contributes to expanding access to justice and reinforcing sustainable legal protection for women and children at the community level.

Abstract

Early Childhood Education (ECE) is a crucial foundation in preparing Indonesia’s Golden Generation 2045. However, limited learning media remains a challenge, including for Ananda Toys MSME in Karangtanjung Village, Sidoarjo, which produces Educational Play Tools (EPT). The main problems include the absence of business legality, limited product innovation, simple marketing practices, and weak financial record-keeping. This community service program aims to empower MSMEs through assistance in obtaining business legality, training in innovative EPT production based on the Flour Press Cutter, strengthening product branding and digital marketing, and training in simple financial recording. The program was implemented using a participatory approach through socialization, training, mentoring, and evaluation, involving 40 participants consisting of business actors, youth organizations (Karang Taruna), PKK members, and PAUD/elementary school teachers. The results show an increase in MSME competitiveness through the acquisition of business legality, product innovation, expanded digital marketing, and more systematic financial management, while also supporting improvements in the quality of early childhood education and community welfare.

Abstract

Stunting remains a crucial health challenge in Indonesia, requiring accurate data for effective intervention. The Community Service Program (KKN) in Mertoyudan Village aimed to verify and validate data to obtain accurate information on families at risk of stunting as an early preventative measure. The methods employed included door-to-door surveys, in-depth interviews with caregivers, and data synchronization with village records. The results revealed unrecorded risk factors and inconsistencies in legacy data, while also raising community awareness of the importance of monitoring child nutrition. Conclusion: A collaborative approach between students and the village government is crucial for improving local data quality. These results demonstrate that direct field validation is key to the success of early detection strategies and the accuracy of targeting stunting prevention programs in rural areas.

Abstract

This Community Service Program aims to improve students’ confidence in speaking English in public through the Public Speaking for Teen Learners activity. The program was conducted at SMP IT Imam Syafi’i Cendikia Pekanbaru and involved students in an active learning approach that included interactive workshops, practice sessions, and performance simulations. Data were collected through observation, pre-test, and post-test speaking confidence measurements. The results indicate significant improvement in students’ confidence, fluency, vocal techniques, body language, and their ability to deliver English speeches effectively. Moreover, a supportive learning environment and a structured training model helped reduce students’ speaking anxiety. Therefore, this program is considered effective in developing students’ public speaking skills and is recommended to be continued through the establishment of an English Public Speaking Club as a sustainable follow-up program.
