Abstract

Infancy is a golden period in infant growth and development so it needs special attention. One of the factors that can affect a baby's growth and development is sleep and rest. Massage can help reduce muscle tension, so that the benefits obtained by the baby become more relaxed and sleep more soundly. Based on a preliminary study at the Karangpawitan Health Center, it was found that the number of babies who had sleep disorders was 11 babies or about 42.3% of 26 babies. The results of interviews with 10 mothers of babies, 7 people (70%) did not know about baby massage. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of baby massage on the sleep duration of infants aged 6-12 months at Posyandu Cempaka, Karangsari Village, Karangpawitan District, Garut Regency. This study uses a quasi-experimental study with the one group pretest-posttest design. The population in this study was 35 infants aged 6-12 months, the sample technique used was total sampling, 5 respondents were eliminated so that the sample taken was 30 infants. The instrument used was a questionnaire that has been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed by using Paired Samples Test. The average duration of sleep for babies before being given baby massage was 12,933 and the average duration of sleep for babies after being given baby massage was 14,200. The results of the statistical test showed a p-value of 0.000 <0.05. There was an effect of baby massage on the sleep duration of infants aged 6-12 months. It is hoped that mothers can continue to massage their children by learning baby massage so that they can massage themselves at home regularly and routinely so that babies do not experience sleep disturbances and can grow and develop optimally.

Abstract

There is limited evidence to support the effectiveness of banana blossom in promoting breast milk supply among mothers undergoing cesarean section. To investigate the clinical galactagogue effect of banana blossom on breast milk production among mothers undergoing cesarean section. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with the experimental group (ne=30) who consumed banana (Musa X paradisiaca) blossom beverage and the control group (nc=30) who consumed plain water. The results showed that mothers undergoing cesarean section in the experimental group had significantly higher milk flow levels at Day 2 (P = 0.017), Day 3 (P = 0.005) and milk volume at Day 2 (P = 0.005), and Day 3 (P = <0.001) than those of control group. This study had proven the galactagogue effect of banana blossom beverage to promote breast milk production, without any notable adverse effect. It could be used to be the alternative daily menu for postpartum mothers and a solution for midwives to deal with those who have inadequate production of breast milk.

Abstract

Nurse preparedness is a factor that needs to be considered in order to suppress work safety in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Early nursing intervention plays an important role in the prevention, preparedness, and response to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and other emerging infectious diseases. A nurse preparedness questionnaire about emerging infectious diseases needs to be compiled as an instrument that can measure preparedness related to unpredictable emerging infectious diseases. The aim of this study was to analyze the validity and reliability of the nurse preparedness questionnaire in dealing with emerging infectious diseases in Bali. This research method is a cross-sectional study involving all nurses in the emergency department at Klungkung Hospital as many as 30 people. Conducting a literature review and adopting the WHO COVID-19 preparedness questionnaire developed the instrument. The questionnaire consists of 4 dimensions with a total of 28 statement items covering the dimensions of knowledge on preparedness for emerging infectious diseases, dimensions of facility preparedness and response readiness in triage, dimensions of the effective response of nurses, and dimensions of preparedness and readiness of nurses for personal protective equipment. The stratified scale in this questionnaire uses a modified Likert scale with 4 answer choices of answers choices (4) strongly agree (3) agree (2) disagree and (1) strongly disagree. In instrumental testing, all 28 items of the instrument were confirmed through content validity (Pearson Product Moment). Using internal consistency reliability, the study found reasonable inter-item reliability for all items (Cronbach’s α: > 0.90)

Aim of this study was to identify the effectiveness of oxytocin massage therapy on increasing breast milk production in the postpartum period. This study uses a literature review using the PRISMA checklist protocol and evaluation. Search articles using two databases, namely PubMed and Scholar. The oxytocin massage intervention was effective for postpartum maternal patients on the first to third day who had not expelled colostrum or had impaired breast milk production. Oxytocin massage is effective if done twice a day with a duration of 3-5 minutes or for approximately 2-3 minutes with 2-3 massages. The implementation of oxytocin massage therapy can affect the release of colostrum in postpartum mothers. There is a need for development in other studies, including combining oxytocin massage with other non-pharmacological methods in order to further support the increase in breast milk production in the postpartum period.

Method: A descriptive cross-sectional design. The Professional Quality of Life Scale (ProQoL), version 5, was used to collect data from 74 nurses who participated in the study, with an 84% response rate. Results: Study participants had high levels of compassion satisfaction (M= 3.9068; SD= 0.86979; WM 78.1%), moderate level of burnout (M= 3.2784; SD= 0.60845; WM 65.5%), and moderate level of secondary traumatic stress (M= 3.0027; SD= 0.77211; WM 60%). There are statistically significant determinants for compassion satisfaction with age group up to 40 years and older (F= 3.406, P= 0.039), participants who received oncology education (T = 2.297, P= 0.025). Also, there is a significant relationship between age group "31-40 years" and secondary traumatic stress in comparison with other groups (F= 4.234, P= 0.018). There are statistically significant determinants for secondary traumatic stress with moderate level of income (F= 6.057, P= 0.004). Also, there is a significant relationship between moderate level of income and burnout (F= 7.497, P= 0.001). Conclusions: Compassion satisfaction is high but burnout and secondary traumatic stress are moderate. Hospital administrators should work on developing strategies to improve compassion satisfaction while reducing burnout and secondary traumatic stress.

Abstract

Stunting is one of the health problems, especially problems in the growth process that occurs in children caused by several causative factors including maternal factors, infant factors, economic factors, socio-cultural factors, and so on. The high incidence of nutritional diseases, especially stunting, is closely related to the level of nutrient intake given to children, especially in the first thousand days of life. The adverse effects that can be caused by nutritional problems in the toddler period in the long term are such as disruption of the brain, intelligence, physical growth disorders, and metabolic disorders in the body so that it can increase the risk of children experiencing lagging behind other children both physically and cognitively. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of parents' knowledge in modifying food ingredients in an effort to prevent stunting in children. In this study, the design used was descriptive observational. The population in this study were parents who had children under five (6-24 months) in the agricultural area of Tugusari Village with a total of 67 mothers of toddlers. The sampling technique used by researchers was to use non-probability sampling techniques, namely purposive sampling with a total sample obtained of 57 respondents. Then for data collection techniques carried out through distributing questionnaires to respondents directly. The results of this study are the knowledge of parents in modifying food ingredients in an effort to prevent stunting in the Tugusari agricultural area in the moderate category, because the highest percentage of respondents' knowledge level is in the moderate knowledge category with a total of 38 people (66.7%), while the number of respondents with good knowledge category is 13 people (22.8%), and respondents with poor knowledge category have the least percentage value, totaling 6 people (10.5%). The conclusion of this study is that the majority of parents or research respondents already know enough about food modifications, especially complementary foods that will be given by mothers to each of their children in an effort to prevent stunting.
