Abstract

The nurses who working in Emergency Room (ER) are require to be able to provide fast and appropriate treatment according to the priority of the patient's condition. Triage is the process of sorting out patients according to their level of emergency. Australasian Triage Scale (ATS) is one of the triage systems implemented in ER. In practice, sometimes the triage carried out by nurses is not appropriate based on the guidelines, resulting over triage or under triage in patients. The aims of this study is to determine the effectiveness of poster media on increasing nurses knowledge about ATS in Emergency Room Bali Mandara Hospital. This research is a quasi-experimental research design with One Group Pretest-Posttest Design Without Group Control. The number of samples in this study were 26 nurses obtained by total sampling. The instrument in this study used a questionnaire and ATS poster. Data analysis used Paired Sample T-Test. This research obtained the average score of nurses knowledge about ATS on pretest 6,08 and posttest increased to 7,58. Bivariate analysis obtained p-value of <0.001 which means that there is a significant effect of poster media on increasing nurses knowledge about ATS. Nurses should have a good understanding of triage so that they can perform optimal management of the patient in emergency situation.

Abstract

Cumulative exposure to solar UV radiation is linked to chronic skin and eye diseases such as skin cancer, photoaging, actinic keratosis, pterygium, cataracts, and possibly macular degeneration. This study aims to determine farmers' knowledge about UV rays on eye health in anticipating the dangers of excessive UV rays and increase farmer awareness of the sources and risks of UV rays for eye health. The method used is a literature review to examine the effects of UV Lights on the health and productivity of farmers in more depth. This literature search was conducted until March 19, 2023, using the PubMed and Science Direct article search engines, with the following search terms using the BOOLEAN Operator technique: "UV Light effects" AND "Farmer," "UV Rays" AND "Farmer," "Heat Effects" AND "Farmer." The analysis carried out in this study concluded that outdoor workers (PL), especially those working in sectors such as agriculture, construction, and fishing, are at high risk of exposure to the harmful effects of UV rays. Fishermen and farmers have a higher risk of cataracts due to excessive UV exposure to the eyes. One of the prevention efforts that can be done is health promotion regarding farmers' knowledge about UV light on eye health in anticipating the dangers of excessive UV light and increasing farmer awareness about the sources and risks of UV light for eye health. Health workers, especially nurses, can provide health services through supportive therapy to overcome physical and psychological problems in cataract patients and helps anticipate the dangers of UV rays at work.

Abstract

Hyperthermia is a health problem characterized by increased body temperature above normal due to thermoregulation failure. Improper hyperthermia treatment of children under five can result in complications such as dehydration and seizures. According to the concept of family-centered care, the family is one of the sources for the treatment of childcare. Involving the family can contribute to success in caring for sick children, not apart from knowledge and attitude in good health based on informed sources and a good environment. The study was intended to get a picture of the parent's knowledge and attitude in conducting hyperthermia first aid on preschool-age children on the coastal shore of the Situbondo county anchor. Research design uses observational/non-experimental study design with a descriptive study, and sample identification using a non-established method with an established sampling technique. The sample needed as many as 80 respondents with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. Data collection uses knowledge questionnaires and attitudes transmitted directly through posyandu; midwives and cadres of posyandu. Studies have found that of 80 respondents, most respondents were in the early adult age category (26-35), and some of those had 2 children. Most parents have a final elementary and high school education level with most of the employment status as housewives. Most of the respondents received information regarding the first treatment of hyperthermia from health officials. The level of parental knowledge is at a missing level and the parents' attitude is at a sufficient level. As a nurse, it is necessary to provide innovation in educating parents about first aid for hyperthermia in children with various health promotion media to change knowledge and attitudes, so that they can undergo better first aid behavior.

Abstract

The community health center in Jember Regency has not been optimal in overcoming mental disorders in the community, causing increasingly complex mental health problems and impacting not only individuals but families and society itself. The family approach using self-help group (SHG) therapy is one way to be able to provide treatment for Person With Mental Illness (PWMI). The role of mental nurses is to explore mental health problems in PWMI and psychosocial problems in families with PWMI by giving SHG therapy. This study aimed to analyze the effect of self-help groups on the family's ability to care for PWMI. This study uses a pre-experimental design approach with a one-shot case study method. The measuring instruments used were self-help group SOP, PWMI daily living activity observation sheets, and a questionnaire on the family's ability to care for PWMI. The SHG will be held for four sessions involving PWMI, families, and the person in charge of mental health programs at the community health center. The results showed a significant increase in the family's cognitive abilities before and after getting a self-help group with a P-value of 0.040. and a significant increase in psychomotor abilities with a P-value of 0.043. It is hoped that nurses can form SHG to improve PWMI care in the community

Abstract

Peripheral vein cannulation is commonly performed for rapid and accurate administration of medications. Phlebitis is the most common complication of intravenous catheter insertion. This study aims to investigate the implementation of intravenous catheter care to prevent phlebitis that was implied on a patient's cannulation conditions. This study was a cross sectional observational study conducted on patients at a hospital in Bali. Study conducted on 35 patients who were admitted to inpatient ward of the hospital in April 2022. The factors studied were age, gender, site of insertion, precision of dressing, dressing integrity, date on dressing, administration set integrity, date on administration set, and VIP score documentation. The results show that the mean age of the patient was 45.31 years old and 60% of the patients were men. 48,6% cannula was inserted in the movement area (wrist and ankle) while only 51,4% dressing was used properly so cannulation sites can be observed. All dressing were intact, dry and clean, but only 48.6% cannulation date documented on the dressing. Majority the administration sets were in good performance (94.3%) but there were only 31,4% with the installation date. The monitoring of peripheral vein cannulation using VIP score has not been widely applied (11,4%). Further intervention is needed to improve adherence to peripheral vein cannulation care so that phlebitis can be prevented optimally.

Abstract

Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) becomes a health crisis in the world. The main route of spreading COVID-19 is through the respiratory tract, but this virus also spread through extra respiratory route. This literature review aimed to describe the ocular transmission as an alternative route of COVID-19 transmission. This literature review study used sources of article obtained through ProQuest, Springer, ScienceDirect, PubMed, and Google Scholar with range 2019-2020 publication years and were traced using a combination of search term for ocular transmission, virus receptor, eye manifestation and COVID-19. Previous research used Experimental design, Case study, and Cross-sectional study, and published from 2019 to 2020. Then analyzed by PRISMA diagram method with four stages starting from identification, screening, eligibility, and included. 4 articles used Experimental study design, 4 articles used Cross-sectional study design, and 2 articles used case study design. This study showed that COVID-19 RNA was found on ocular (conjunctiva and cornea) in a low percentage (2.23%-24%). Patients with confirmed COVID-19 could have ocular manifestations. COVID-19 enter the human body through the eye by spike protein binds to eye receptors that are: ACE2, CD147/Basigin/EMMPRIN, TMPRSS2, ANPEP and AGTR2. Then this virus transferred to the respiratory tract through the nasolacrimal duct. The study showed that ocular transmission can be an alternative route of COVID-19 transmission even with a low percentage level, so it is important for health worker to wear eye protector.

Abstract

Intensive care is a care service for critical, acute, and life-threatening patients with hemodynamic instability. The use of a ventilator can make discomfort to the patients and then affect the patient's hemodynamics. Foot massage can be applied to intensive patients. This study aims to determine the effect of foot massage on non-invasive hemodynamic status patients in the ICU of the Sanglah General Public Hospital. The quasi-experimental design with a time series approach used, involve 12 patients using a purposive sampling technique. A foot massage was carried out for 30 minutes and hemodynamic measurements were taken 30 minutes later. The research data were analyzed using the Friedman test then continued with the post-hoc Wilcoxon Sign Rank test analysis. Foot massage therapy was given a significant effect on non-invasive hemodynamic status in patients in ICU, including decreasing respiratory frequency (p=0.002), decreasing MAP (p=0.002), decreasing heart rate (p=0.002), and increasing oxygen saturation (p=0.002). It provides a relaxation response that stimulates the sympathetic nervous system to decrease its activity and increase the work of the parasympathetic nerves which influence decreasing heart rate and blood pressure so that there is a balance between oxygen and carbon dioxide in the tissues then reduce the respiratory rate to become normal.

Abstract

Better nurse work environments are associated with patient and nurse outcomes reflecting nursing care quality. Mechanisms through which the work environment influences nursing care quality are not well documented. Unfinished nursing care, electronic health records, and job satisfaction may be involved. Clear mechanistic pathways that explain how these variables might interact to influence care quality are lacking. This study examined how satisfaction with the electronic health record, unfinished care, the work environment, and job satisfaction collectively affect nursing care quality. A secondary analysis of cross-sectional data was performed using survey data collected from inpatient hospital staff nurses in a single U.S. state. Survey responses (n=916) were analyzed using bivariate correlations and path analysis. Moderate bivariate correlations were documented among all study variables. However, smaller effects were identified in the full path analysis model. The nurse work environment had direct and indirect effects (through unfinished nursing care and job satisfaction) on nursing care quality. Satisfaction with the electronic health records affected nursing care quality indirectly through an inverse relationship with unfinished nursing care. More research is needed to better understand the mechanisms through which the electronic health record influences the nurse work environment and nursing care quality are needed.
