Abstract

Fiddler crabs (Uca spp.) are distributed widely in tropical and subtropical areas in the world. They live in the sandy and muddy bay habitats of intertidal zone. This study aimed to find species abundance, microhabitat and population density of fiddler crabs in mangrove conservation area of Pantai Panjang, Bengkulu.  The sampling was conducted for three months started from December 2013 to February 2014. Sampling locations were decided purposively on the area consist of four microhabitats, i.e. sandy, muddy, muddy around decay plant roots and around mangrove roots. Samples of Uca were collected from 1x1 m of sixty quadrants.   The results found seven species of fiddler crabs i.e. U. perplexa, U. lactea, U. jocelynae, U. forcipata, U. triangularis, U. rosea, and U. dussumieri. They were distributed at four microhabitats. The microhabitats of U. perplexa, U. lactea, U. jocelynae, U. forcipata, U. triangularis, U. rosea, and U. dussumieri were around mangrove roots and sandy, around mangrove roots, muddy, muddy, muddy around decay plants, muddy and sandy areas, respectively. Among those species, U. perplexa was the most abundant population whereas U. dussumieri was the less one. Popolation density of fiddler crabs were U. perplexa  5.48  ind/m2, U. lactea 4.25 ind/m2, U. jocelynae , 1.47 ind/m2, U. forcipata 0.28 ind/m2,  U.triangularis 0.18 ind/m2,  U. rosea 2.17 ind/m2 and U. dussumieri 0.12 ind/m2.Key words: Mangrove, microhabitat, population, Uca spp.

Abstract

Trametes versicolor merupakan salah satu fungi pendegradasi kayu dari golongan white rot fungi yang memiliki kemampuan dalam menghasilkan enzim ekstraseluler, yaitu cellobiose dehydrogenase (CDH). Enzim CDH memiliki dua domain, yaitu domain flavin dan domain heme yang dihubungkan oleh 25 asam amino yang kaya akan serin dan treonin. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeteksi CDH yang dihasilkan oleh T. versicolor baik secara kualitatif maupun kuantitatif. Deteksi CDH dilakukan melalui empat  tahap, yaitu: uji kualitatif enzim ekstraseluler, produksi CDH pada media cair, pengukuran aktivitas CDH menggunakan DCIP sebagai akseptor elektron dan selobiosa sebagai substrat, serta analisis bobot molekul CDH dengan elektroforesis SDS-Page. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terbentuknya zona bening disekitar fungi setelah perlakuan congo red dan NaCl yang mengindikasikan bahwa T. versicolor menghasilkan enzim ekstraseluler. Produksi CDH dilakukan dengan menumbuhkan fungi di media YPD dan media minimal guna menginduksi produksi CDH. Pengukuran aktivitas enzim CDH belum berhasil dilakukan dan berdasarkan hasil SDS-PAGE, sebagian besar enzim CDH dari T. versicolor dihasilkan dalam bentuk domain flavin.  Kata kunci : Cellobiose dehydrogenase, SDS-Page, Trametes versicolor

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the improvement of oral communication skills through the PjBL learning model of class X MIPA 4 Surakarta Public High School 5. The research subjects used were students of class X MIPA 4 consisting of 32 students. Research is classroom action research (CAR) based on problems that occur in the class. Data and sources of research data about oral communication skills obtained through observation sheets, closed interviews with teachers and students, and documentation using the PjBL learning model. Data collection by conducting observations, interviews, and documentation.Validation of data using triangulation techniques include observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis techniques are done by data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the research conducted concluded that the application of the PjBL learning model in learning activities of Kingdom Animalia material using projects showed that there was an increase in oral communication components of students by 40% so that oral communication skills of students increased to 60% -72.31%.

Abstract

This activity aims to foster a sense of environmental love early childhood. The target is children around Parangtritis Beach area. The child is aged 4-12 years old which amounts to activities of 30 children. Activities undertaken in the form of waste exploration, outbound, handicraft made from inorganic waste (plastic cups, bottle caps and bottles), garbage creation contest and strengthening the material. The educators of this activitity are the implementer team from Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa Jari Kreasi Sampah Bocah Cilik. The manifestation of the growing love of the environment is shown by the increase of knowledge, skills and attitude. The results of the creation of simple crafts such as glass dolls, bottle caps, spider dolls, and painting bottles. Parents and surrounding communities strongly support this activity.

Abstract

High school biology teacher in carrying out their duties as educators and teachers master the four competencies required minimum.One is professional competence.Training aims is  enhance the development of Professional Competence (DPC) biology teacher, and determine the amount of contribution (effect size) of the DPC training material deepening biology teacher.The training material consists of basic competency breeding seed plants, the theory of the origin of life and the proof, the human digestive system, excretory system of human, photosynthesis, regulation of the human system, the human reproductive system, as well as the impact of biotechnology to society and the environment.The training method includes three phases of activity. The first step is presentation of material by the instructor, the second step is assignment and training study material, and finally step is presentation and discussion.The training lasts eight forces with a duration of five days or the equivalent of 55 hours per batch.Training participants totaled 248 high school biology teacher of 12 County Southeast Sulawesi.Professional competence measuring instruments using a multiple-choice test of 40 items was.Cognitive level of professional competence developed by Anderson and Krathwohl to measure knowledge shutter remember, understand, apply, analyze, evaluate, and create.Tests carried out before the implementation of the training (pree test) and after the implementation of the training (post-test).The results showed an increase of DPC: 0-5% is 13 participants, 6-10% is 19 participants, 11-15% are 24 participants, 16-20% are 78 participants, 21-25% are 51 participants, 26-30% are 52 participants, 31 - 35% are 36 participants, 36-40% are 23 participants, 41-45% are 4 participants, and 45-50% are 0 participants.The DPC mean is 19.89% with moderate category.The results of partial correlation analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between value Pree test with post-test with a correlation coefficient of r = 0:47;p <0.01. Keywords: professional competence, biology teacher, training approach, deepening materials

Abstract

Salah satu tujuan penilaian dalam pembelajaran adalah mengetahui kedudukan siswa di dalam kelas atau kelompoknya, keberhasilan pencapaian tujuan pembelajaran, penguasaan siswa terhadap pelajaran, serta ketepatan atau keefektifan metode mengajar. Penelitian  ini difokuskan untuk menilai keterampilan proses sains siswa pada materi ekosistem menggunakan pengamatan langsung sebagai metode pembelajaran. Populasi penelitian kelas X SMAN 1. Instrument penelitian berupa tes  keterampilan proses sains  dalam bentuk essay yang berjumlah  13 soal, ke 13 soal tersebut mencakup indikator keterampilan proses sains meliputi:1) observasi, 2) komunikasi, 3) interpretasi, 4) prediksi, 5) klasifikasi, 6) mengajukan pertanyaan, 7) mengajukan hipotesis, dan 8) menerapkan konsep. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan nilai keterampilan proses pada kelas eksperimen kecuali pada indicator interpretasi (0,2), mengajukan pertanyaan(0,11),dan menerapkan konsep (0,2). Abstract

Sudah umum diakui bahwa biologi adalah dasar penguasaan dan pengembangan ilmu serta pemanfaatan teknologi pertanian, perkebunan, kehutanan, perikanan, kedokteran, kesehatan, lingkungan, dan disiplin ilmu-ilmu serta teknologi lain yang kegiatannya ditumpukan pada sumber daya alam hayati. Dalam beberapa dasawarsa terakhir kita menyaksikan bahwa biologi dan segenap cabang spesialisasi serta ranting-ranting superspesialisasinya maju dengan pesatnya, akan tetapi disiplin terapan yang lain juga tumbuh melesat dengan lebih cepat lagi karena dipacu oleh desakan kepentingan yang sangat bersifat antroposentris. Jika dulu tergelar jarak waktu panjang sampai belasan tahun antara temuan ilmiah potensi kemampuan jamur Penicillium notatum untuk menekan pertumbuhan bakteri (1929) dan penerapan luasnya sebagai obat suntik antibiotik penisilin (1944) yang sangat terkenal, sekarang hanya diperlukan waktu bulanan saja untuk dapat mengambil manfaat praktis sebuah pengungkapan spektakular bioteknologi.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to produce guided practicum biology guide guide-based on the material interaction of living things with the environment. This research is a research development of practice manual by using R & D method (Research and Development) and use 3D development model from 4-D model (Four D). 3D development model consists of 3 main stages: Define (Define), Design (Design), and Develop (Development). The research was conducted at SMP N 1 Kerek, Tuban. Subjects in this research are 2 lecturers and 1 teacher of Biology as validator and 32 students of class VII SMP N 1 Kerek. result of validity test from material expert and media expert  obtained average score validity equal to 84,96% with category very valid. Based on practicability test of practice manual obtained result of 90,62% with very practical category.The result of the effectiveness test result of students learning completeness with a score of 87,50% with very completeness category, the result of student responses average list of achievement of 84,37%. While based on the observation of student activity shows the average value of each aspect in accordance with the criteria values specified in the effective category. It can be conclude that guide practicum biology in classification is valid, practical, and effective.

Abstract

Uji provenan untuk memilih materi genetik surian yang akan dilibatkan dalam program pemuliaan telah dilakukan di Candiroto, Jawa Tengah dengan menguji 15 provenans dengan rincian 5 provenans dari Jawa Barat, 8 provenas dari Jawa Tengah dan 2 provenans dari Jawa Timur. Desain pengujian berbentuk square plot (5 x 5), 25 pohon setiap blok, 3 replikasi dengan jarak tanam 3 x 3m pada areal seluas 1,2 Ha. Pengamatan periodik dilakukan dengan melakukan pengukuran beberapa sifat pertumbuhan penting antara lain bentuk batang dan indeks volume kayu. Pemilihan kedua sifat tersebut berdasarkan peruntukan kayu surian adalah untuk bahan kayu pertukangan yang dipersyaratkan memiliki bentuk batang lurus, silindris dengan tinggi bebas cabang seoptimal mungkin, serta mampu menghasilkan volume kayu yang maksimal. Pengamatan pada umur 11 tahun terhadap bentuk batang dilakukan berdasarkan skor 1 – 5 sedangkan indeks volume batang dihitung tanpa dikalikan angka bentuk. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa nilai rerata bentuk batang surian terdistribusi paling banyak pada pada rentang skor 2,03 – 4,21 dengan nilai rerata 3,2 yang mengindikasikan bentuk batang surian cenderung lurus mulai dari setengah tinggi bebas cabang hingga batang lurus setinggi bebas cabang. Pengamatan indeks volume seluruh provenans berada pada kisaran 0,11 - 0,33 m3 denga nilai rerata sebesar 0,23 m3. Analisis varian menunjukkan kedua sifat tersebut sangat dipengaruhi asal provenans. Hasil uji Duncan menunjukkan bahwa peringkat seluruh provenan untuk kedua sifat tidak selaras. Berdasarkan sifat bentuk batang dan indeks volume dari seluruh provenans yang diuji maka peluang menetapkan provenans terbaik untuk ditetapkan sebagai sumber materi genetik untuk pembangunan populasi pemuliaan telah dapat dilakukan karena data yang digunakan telah memenuhi setengah daur penebangan. Keterbatasan jumlah famili dan individu yang di plot uji provenans dapat dilengkapi dengan infusi atau penambahan materi genetik dari provenans terpilih tersebut dengan tetap mempertimbangkan area koleksi yang mewakili sebaran provenas dan kecukupan jumlah famili. Untuk mendapatkan panduan dalam infusi materi genetik maka diperlukan informasi keragaman genetik, sehingga koleksi materi genetik lanjutan yang akan dilakukan dapat lebih efektif.

Abstract

The tofu liquid waste has a high organic matter content and potential for biogas production as an alternative fuel source through anaerobic process . In general , biogas contains 50-80 % methane , CO2 , H2S and water . The treatment of tofu liquid waste into biogas is beneficial for the owner tofu factory not only contribute to protecting the environment but also increase revenue by reducing fuel consumption in the tofu production. The purpose of thr program to follow up of the PKM - M ( Student Creativity Program Society) to provide an introduction the treatment of tofu liquid waste  into biogas as a fuel alternative and its application in the factory tofu owned by Mr. Jarwanto in Sumber Rejeki Village Rt 40 / Rw 7 Sidodadi District, Masaran Central Java . The methods of implementation through the simple design instrument with the principal part of digestive (digester) , raw material intake hole , out let of the products digestion sludge (slurry) , and the distribution pipes for biogas formed . In the tank digester is contain methane bacteria to decompose of organic matter and produce of biogas . The gas formed subsequently channeled into the pipes that are designed such that it can be directly utilized in such a way for example to the stove .
