Abstract

Mangrove has a function as a physical protector of the seashore and also play a role as a habitat of various typesof aquatic fauna. The decaying mangrove stems contain vegetable protein and mixed with animal proteinderived from dead animals in mangrove soil. Proteolytic bacteria play a role in the process of proteindegradation into more simple and soluble compounds. This research aims to: 1) identify species of proteolyticbacteria in mangrove soil, 2) count the Protein Hydrolysis Index on each species of proteolytic bacteria, 3)determine the most potential proteolytic bacteria species to decompose the protein. Soil samples were takenfrom 10 points of mangrove area Margomulyo, Balikpapan. After that, soil samples were diluted in 10-1 to 10-10 and 0,1 mL of each level dilution is inoculated to the NA medium, incubated at 37°C for 1 x 24 hours. Eachcolony sorts were isolated, identified and determined the proteolytic bacteria isolates, then the ProteinHydrolysis Index on the Skim Milk Agar medium were count. The research results showed that: 1) there are 7species of proteolytic bacteria from mangrove soil, 2) the Protein Hydrolysis Index of each species ofproteolytic bacteria ranged from 1.62 to 2.94, and 3) Vibrio parahaemolyticus is the most potential proteolyticbacteria with the Protein Hydrolysis Index is 2,94

Abstract

Abstract- The role of phosphate compounds as limiting nutrients for algae growth in aquatic systems contribute to the occurrence of eutrophication in water bodies. Determination of phosphate was performed by in situ sampling methods technique called DGT (Diffusive Gradient in Thin Films). Prob DGT consists of 3 layers as binding gel, diffusive gel, and membrane filters. With the DGT method, phosphate from sediment pore water will through the diffusive gel and accumulate on the binding layer containing La(OH)3. Samples of sediments taking using sediment cores. Samples taken on 2 (two) locations each 3 points of sampling. Measurement of pH, temperature, and conductivity of water sampling conducted at the site.  Profile presence of phosphate is also linked to the presence of nitrate, manganese and iron in the sediments. Analysis of phosphate, nitrate, manganese and iron made by spectrophotometric method. As a results, at location I, the range of phosphate concentration at point A, B and C are consecutive from 0.0630 to 0.1598 ppm, 0.1306 to 0.2185 ppm and 0.1568 to 0.2082 ppm. Phosphate concentration was increased with increasing depth of sediment, while at location II, the phosphate concentration range at point A, B and C are consecutive 0.1204 to 0.2470 ppm, 0.1479 to 0.3466 ppm and 0.1806 to 0.2603 ppm. From this research we canconclude that the sediments of Brantas River downstream has an important role in the phosphate cycle in which these sediments act as a sink and source of phosphate in the waters. Keywords : DGT technique, sediment, phosphate

Abstract

Pemanfaatan kulit buah naga menjadi yoghurt merupakan salah satu upaya diversifikasi pangan dan penanganan limbah kulit buah naga. Yoghurt adalah produk olahan makanan yang dihasilkan melalui fermentasi bakteri asam laktat. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh spesis buah naga dan macam gula terhadap tekstur, aroma, rasa dankadar asam laktat yoghurt kulit buah naga. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen mengunakan rancangan acak lengkap (RAL) 2 faktor, faktor pertama yaitu spesies buah naga putih (hylocereus undatus) dan spesies buah naga merah (hylocereus polyrhizuz). Faktor kedua yaitu gula pasir, gula palem, dan gula siwalan dengan 4 kali ulangan. Tekstur, aroma, dan rasa diuji melalui uji organoleptik, sedangkan kadar asam laktat diukur mengunakan metode titrasi dengan titran NaOH 0,05 N. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa: 1) Terdapat pengaruh spesies buah naga yang signifikan terhadap kadar asam laktat yoghurt; 2) Terdapat pengaruh macam gula yang signifikan terhadap tekstur, rasa dan kadar asam laktat yoghurt; 3) Tidak terdapat pengaruh interaksi antara spesies buah naga dan macam gula terhadap tekstur, aroma, rasa dan kadar asam laktat yoghurt kulit buah naga. Rerata kadar asam laktat yoghurt  kulit buah naga spesies merah  lebih tinggi dari kadar asam laktat yoghurt kulit buah naga putih yaitu secara berurutan  sebesar 1,238% dan 1,144%. Kedua hasil tersebut sesuai dengan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) untuk kadar asam laktat yoghurt yaitu sebesar 0,5% - 2,0%.Kata kunci: Yoghurt kulit buah naga, tekstur, aroma, rasa yoghurt dan kadar asam laktat yoghurt.

Abstract

Final Disposal (Landfill) generally produce pollutants such as leachate and can have a negative impact on the environment. In general, leachate in landfill containing high of organic matter and hogh of nitrogen, as well as landfill leachate Ngronggo-Salatiga. The content of COD and ammonium far exceeded the applicable waste water. To reduce the content of organic matter and ammonium in leachate, landfill leachate in Ngronggo can processed using anaerobo-aerobic process (algae culture) is continuous, with a 24-hour contact time to the leachate for one week. The results showed that anaerobic-aerobic system (algae culture) were conducted in a laboratory scale give significant results on the reduction of COD and ammonium to over 90%, and produce refined quality that meets quality standards.Keywords:  landfill leachate, algae culture, continuous, anaerobic, aerobic

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengungkapkan keterlaksanaan penilaian autentik pada mata pelajaran biologi; (2) mengetahui adanya korelasi antara keterlaksanaan penilaian autentik dan hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian survei. Data diperoleh dari lima guru biologi dan 190 siswa kelas X di SMA Negeri Kabupaten Sleman. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar kuesioner, pedoman wawancara dan dokumentasi. Analisis data penelitian menggunakan teknik analisis deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif, serta Uji Korelasi Spearman. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) pelaksanaan penilaian autentik masuk dalam kategori baik dengan dua sekolah kategori sangat baik, dua sekolah kategori baik dan satu sekolah kategori kurang baik; (2) tidak ada korelasi yang signifikan antara keterlaksanaan penilaian autentik dan hasil belajar siswa.Keywords:        penilaian autentik, hasil belajar, biologi

Abstract

Critical thinking is a skill that is achieved through a process not an inherited trait by parents to their children. An effort to teach how to think critically at school as early as possible is needed. This research aimed to describe the worthiness of biology learning tools to the students' critical thinking and the implementation in learning on the ecosystem concept at SMP 1 Angkinang. This study is a Research &Development (R & D) in which the first phase is the development of tools using 4-D models. In the second phase,the worthiness assessment is done by the validator, small group testing, and field testing. Learning toolsaredeveloped using the environmental approach onecosystem concept to critical thinking skill. Worthiness test results obtained by the average value of 2.61 (fair valid). In the small group of test data obtained to formulate the problem 72.50 (medium), formulating hypotheses 76.25 (good), collect data 66.85 (medium), analyzed data 88.15 (good) and concludes 68.15 (medium) , In the field test data obtained to formulate the problem 71.35 (medium), formulating hypotheses 82.50 (good), collect data 83.15 (good), analyzed data 84.85 (good) and concludes 87.35 (good).Keywords:  Critical Thinking Skills, Ecosystem, SMP 1 Angkinang

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest banana-producing countries in the world. Unfortunately, the high demand for bananas has not been balanced with the utilization of banana peels well. Thus, the high production of banana indicates the high amount of banana peel waste produced. On the other hand, tomato production from year to year tends to decrease. According to the Director General of Holticulture (2015), tomato production in 2014 decreased by 76.793 tons. One of the causes is the attack of Ralstoniasolanacearum bacteria that causes bacterial wilt diseases of tomato plants. Vegetable pesticides can come from banana peels because they contain toxin compounds such as flavonooids, sapoin, tannins, etc. Flavonoids will form complex compounds with extracellular and dissolved proteins that can damage the cell membrane of bacteria and followed by the release of intracellular compounds. This study aims to know the process of banana peel extract (Musa paradisiaca) in suppressing the growth of Ralstoniasolanacearum bacteria, which is most effective for inhibiting the growth of Ralstoniasolanacearum bacteria, This research is a  experimental research. the experiment is antibacterial test of banana peel extract on Ralstoniasolanacearum bacteria growth. The design pattern of the study used a completely nested randomized design pattern. The research started with the extraction process with maceration, making of NA and NB media, followed by rejuvenation and suspension of bacteria. After that, making test solution, then test the antibacterial activity with kirby-bauer method and last data retrieval. The results of Antibacterial test results showed positive results can inhibit the growth of Ralstoniasolanacearum bacteria is evidenced by ANOVA of significan value less than 0.05. The Duncan test results show that 100% of Ammon banana is the best to be used for antibacterial. So that banana peel potency to be developed become agent of vegetable pesticide on tomato plant.

Abstract

One of the higher-order thinking skills that is competence in curriculum 2013 is critical thinking skills. However, in the actual learning process the teacher has not yet empowered the students' critical thinking skills. In addition, other aspects such as cognitive styles have also not been considered. This study aims to examine students' critical thinking differences in terms of reflective and impulsive cognitive styles between those using Inquiry Based Learning model with Problem Based Learning model. The research method used is Quasi experiment that is in experiment class I using Inquiry Based Learning model and experiment class II using Problem Based Learning model. The study sample were 64 students of VII B class and VII C class of SMP Negeri 7 Tuban consist of 22 reflective students and 19 impulsive students. To obtain reflective and impulse cognitive style data is used Matching Familiar Figure Test (MFFT). The students' critical thinking data in the two experimental classes as a whole was analyzed using the Independent Samples Test or t-test. While the critical thinking data reflective and impulsive students were analyzed using Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that there is no difference ofcritical thinking between students using Inquiry Based Learning model with Problem Based Learning model. Both are equally able to empower students' critical thinking. However, if examined further by cognitive style, there is a difference between the two experimental classes. Model Inquiry Based Learning is better, because critical thinking reflective students with impulsive students.

Abstract

Pursuant to requirement analysis in SMA 2 Pare known that still found teacher which not yet educative by participant its knowledge construction, peripheral of used study not yet according to requirement and items require to be developed by peripheral of study matching with educative participant potency and requirement, may even exist teacher which not yet compiled by xself peripheral of its study. According to fact and requirement hence target of this development and research is to yield peripheral of study of Biology base on inkuiri guided for the items of Archaeabacteria and of Eurbacteria educative by participant class of X-MIA in SMA 2 Pare Sub-Province of Kediri.Research type is development and research pursuant to model development of Borg & Gall and which consist of 10 phase. Research data obtained from instrument validasi development of peripheral of study by development expert, items expert, and teacher and also educative participant enquette. There is two data type to be obtained by that is quantitative data and data qualitative. Data of Kuantitaif analysed by calculating score and reconciled with the tables of elegibility criterion and revise product. Data qualitative in the form of comment and suggestion used to revise product.Research and development which have shown result of for example: (1) according to assessment by development expert, items expert and Biological teacher in assessment of elegibility of peripheral at criterion very competent and needn't revise; (2) individual test to readers of Handout and LKPD reside in at criterion very competent and needn't revise (score average 3,6); (3) small group test in assessment is understanding of concept 17% educative participant is not complete, and 83,0% residing in complete criterion; (4) assessment to erudite skill 100% complete (>80); result of assessment pluck activity reside in criterion 100% complete (assess lowest 81,3); result of attitude observation is 86,18% showing attitude very good, and 13,9% showing good attitude; (5) tired study keterlaksanaan of average 3,85 this means all step can follow and answered to by entire all educative participant. Keywords: Learning Biology Material, Guided In Inquiry, Handout

Abstract

Kegiatan pembekalan praktikum fisiologi hewan dari tahun ketahun menggunakan media dan strategi yang berbeda-beda. Media dan strategi dalam kegiatan pembekalan praktikum digunakan untuk meningkatkan hasil akhir praktikum fisiologi hewan. Penelitian yang dilakukan bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan media dan strategi pembelajaran dalam kegiatan pembekalan praktikum yang menghasilkan hasil terbaik. Kegiatan pembekalan praktikum pada TA 2009/2010 menggunakan media OHP dan metode ceramah, TA 2010/2011 menggunakan media Powerpoint dan metode demonstrasi dan TA 2011/2012 menggunakan media video dan metode percobaan. Penelitian ini merupakan  penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif menggunakan analisis deskriptif untuk mengetahui gambaran rata-rata nilai praktikum  yang meliputi  skor  pretest, laporan dan ujian akhir praktikum pada masing-masing tahun akademik untuk mengetahui media dan strategi manakah dalam kegiatan pembekalan praktikum yang menghasilkan hasil terbaik. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui dokumentasi. Data dikumpulkan dari  masing-masing tahun akademik. Hasil analisis deskriptif  memperlihatkan  bahwa  skor  pretest, laporan  dan ujian akhir praktikum TA 2009/2010 (64,99; 84,67 dan 67,12); TA 2010/2011 (71,30; 86,33 dan 60,65); dan  TA 2011/2012 ( 75,28; 89,80 dan 73,45). Dengan demikian dapat disimpulkan bahwa, dari ketiga tahun akademik tersebut yang menghasilkan hasil terbaik yaitu dengan media dan strategi yang digunakan dalam kegiatan pembekalan praktikum adalah media video dan metode percobaan pada tahun akademik 2011/2012.  Kata kunci: Pembekalan Praktikum, Fisiologi Hewan, Deskriptif, Media, Strategi Pembelajaran
