Abstract

The purpose of this research is to produce inquiry-oriented life skills modules on environmental pollution materials for high school students of class X and test their effectiveness in teaching Biology. This research is the development that follows the Borg and Gall development procedure includes several steps: (1) research and information gathering; (2) planning; (3) the initial product development; (4) limited trial; (5) revision of the product; (6) The main trial; and (7) the major product revision. The results of the validation and assessment by experts material, teaching material development experts, and practitioners implementing learning indicates that the module in the excellent category with an average percentage of achievement (p) more than 85%. This indicates that the module has been implemented in the learning feasible. Readability test showed performance of 84.90 ataubaik. In the main test phase gain values obtained scores of 0.64 (medium), which means the module has been quite effectively applied in learning. Keywords : inquiry, life skills, learning

Abstract

Chrommium is a non-essential metal which is highly toxic to microorganisms and plants. One of the efforts to improve the productivity of the soil is done by inoculating the microorganisms in the soil, that is with using mycorrhizal fungi. Sorghum bicolor is a plant that quite often found in Indonesia and resistant to heavy metals, for the example is chromium. Research of the mycorrhizal association of Glomus fasciculatum or Glomus mosae with plants in reducing heavy metal contamination has been done, but the mechanism of resistance to heavy metals Cr VI in Sorghum bicolor which associated with mycorrhizal fungi Glomus mosae and Glomus fasiculatum has not been explained yet. The study was conducted experimentally using a randomized block design with three treatment concentrations of Cr VI (0 ppm, 5 ppm, 10 ppm) and 3 treatment \of mycorrhiza (without mikiroza; Glomus mosae; Glomus fasiculatum). Each treatment was made 5 replications. Plants kept in polybags arranged randomly. The study was conducted for one month, and the data were analyzed with ANOVA analysis with SPSS applications. The study aims to compare the effect of giving mycorrhizal Glomus Glomus fasiculatum and mosae to plant Sorghum bicolor on media contaminated with heavy metals chromium in various concentrations. The results showed that G.mosae and G.fasciculatum can increase plant tolerance to heavy metals. The presence of mycorrhizae cause the concentration of Cr VI is lower than in the absence of mycorrhiza on S.bicolor. There are significant differences between treatments without giving mycorrhiza and giving mycorrhiza (P ≤ 0.05). G. fasciculatum symbiotic with S.bicolor be able to reduce Cr VI more than G.mosae although the leaves has not significant difference.

Abstract

Abstract - Gendola (Basella rubra Linn) and Binahong (Anredera cardifolia) are medicinal plant. Gendola and Binahong leaves widely used as traditional medicine for Indonesian people.The objectives of this research were to examine the antioxidant activity and the total phenols content of Gendola leaf and Binahong leaf ethanolic extract. The antioxidant activity was measured by UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at 517 nm using 1-difenil-2pikril hidrazil hydrat (DPPH) as free radical. The total phenols content were measured by spectrophotometer at 360 nm. The result showed that IC50 value of ethanolic extract of Gendola leaf 84,70 ppm, and Binahong leaf 180,16 ppm. The total phenols content of ethanolic extract of Gendola leaf is 0,88%, and than ethanolic extract of Binahong leaf 0,54%. Keywords: antioxidant activity, DPPH test, gendola extract, binahong extract, total phenol

Abstract

Based on the results of science learning process in SMP Negeri 3 Kusan Hilir, in the learning process especially KD 7.2 and KD. 7.4 on Ecosystems, learners are always given conceptual learning and teachers are reluctant to invite directly to the environment to learn, learners do not do the learning in groups so that learning is still centered on the teacher. Such learning leads to the lack of creativity and involvement of learners in the learning process that impacts on the classical completeness of only 60%. The purpose of this study is to improve the ability to think critically about what is happening in their environment and to instill environmental ethics in their minds, that the importance of environmental sustainability for the present to the future by using Inquiry approach. This research is Classroom Action Research (PTK). This study was conducted 2 cycles in accordance with the effective learning time of 8 hours lesson. Cycle I as much as 2 meetings and cycle II as much as 2 times meetings. Subjects in this study were students class VII A SMP Negeri 3 Kusan Hilir which amounted to 22 students consisting of 10 women and 12 men. The results showed that by using the Inkuiri approach can improve students' critical thinking skills from classical mastery 13.63% in the first cycle of meeting 1 to 45.50% at the 2nd meeting and 68% in the second cycle of meeting 1 to 95% At the meeting 2. The cognitive learning outcomes of learners have increased from classical completeness 22.72% in the first cycle of meeting 1 to 55% at meetings 2 and 77% in cycle II meeting 1 to 95% at the meeting 2. The implementation process Lessons from the less category in the first cycle of meeting 1 become sufficient category at the 2nd meeting and from the good category in the second cycle of meeting 1 become very good category at the meeting 2. Positive student response to the learning process using Inquiry approach.

Abstract

In nursery technology, the storage of scions always requires approriate optimization of shelf life and good packing This study aims to determine the effect of shelf life and storage materials on viability of soursop (Annona muricata) var. Ratu grafting by applying randomized factorial design with 2 factors: storage time and type of packing materials, with 3 times repeatation. The duration of storage time factor consist of 5 levels: 0 day, 3 days, 5 days, 1 week and 2 weeks meanwhile packing materials factor consist of 2 levels: parafilm and polyethylene. The highest survival rate was obtained at 0 day shelf life time and parafilm as storage material, whereas the lowest one was shown at 2 weeks storage with polyethylene as storage material.

Abstract

The various studies indicated that our students have low reading habit, academics achievement, social attitudes, and many other skills. The kinds of skills that need to be empowered are the five discovery skills owned by the inovators in the world, ie associating, questioning, observing, experimenting, and networking. In the curriculum of 2013, those five discovery skills are packages in the scientific approach. Those five skills can be taught to students with remap coople based learning, through reading assignments then making concept map, and the learning is done by the models of cooperative learning. The remap coople based learning have been examined by several studies and the results showed there were improvement in some aspects observed. Abstract

Brangkal River is one of river where located in Mojokerto. Beritajatim.com has reported on Tuesday, August 18 that Brangkal River flow brings white foam which had about 20 cm in thickness and caused thousands fish getting dead. Foam flow comes from hazardous and poisonous      spilled which is presented by chemistry substance warehouse fire a day before Brangkal River contamination phenomenon. The purpose of this study was to understand water quality of Brangkal River after contaminated by fire waste based on microalgae as bioindicators. Sample was taken using purposive sampling. The result of this study indicates that microalgae had been discovered about 25 species. The highest abundance species value is the second stasiun. The lowest abundance species value is the third station. The highest diversity index value is the second station. The highest Domination index value is the second station. The conclusion is Brangkal River has heavy contaminated water quality

Abstract

Abstract- Genus Hibiscus is one of genuses in Family of Malvaceae which is spread out through seed, and its generative reproductive organ is flower. One part in flower are female gametophyte (pistil) and male gametophyte (stamen) which produce pollen. Plants that different species in same genus typically has different pollen. Variation in pollen morphology can be used as one of the value in taxonomy. This aims of research are investigating the variation of pollen’s layer morphology of some Hibiscus species.  The method of current study is descriptive. Pollen which were investigated were from three species and one cultivare of Hibiscus, such as Hibiscus rosa-sinensis Mary Forbes, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. pink, Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. yellow, Hibiscus tiliaceus L., dan Hibiscus schizopetalus Hook. f. The method which was used to observe pollen by SEM (Scanning Electron Microscope) with magnification 200x, 400x, and 1000x. Pollen has several characteristics which can be observed, such as aperture, pollen shape, pollen size, and type of exine ornamental. The analysis of data used descriptive qualitative.The result of this research showed that pollen some species of Hibiscus showed some variation pollen characteristics. P/E index of pollen 0.93 to 1.00, with the result the type of pollen shape are oblat spheroidal. Pollen grain size between 100 µm to 175 µm, but it have same type are permagna. The type of exine ornamental were echini, with different type, the lengthiest of echini is 20.6 µm in Hibiscus tiliaceus L., the withiest distance 40 µm of echini is Hibiscus rosa-sinensis L. yellow. Keywords: Genus Hibiscus, pollen, SEM

Abstract

This study aims to develop environmental education curriculum based on Tbilisi Declaration.   There were five environmental education goals of Tbilisi Declaration namely knowledge, awareness, attitudes, skills, and participation. Curriculum was developed for supporting education policy in South Tangerang, Banten Province, Indonesia.  Letter of Education Division South Tangerang City nomor 800/KEP 1222-dikdas/2014 stated environmental education as local curriculum in South Tangerang Elementary School.  Curriculum was developed by developmental research. There was four steps to develop curriculum, every steps had three activities, i.e. making, reviewing, and fixing. This study result some standard and basic competences. Research developed environmental education was integrated with thematic subject matter in 1st and 2nd grade, but as monolithic subject matter in 3rd – 6rd grade. Using exiting competence standard from 2014 curriculum and format standard competence 2006 made this curriculum have flexibility to implement for the school that used 2006 or 2013 curriculum. Keywords:   environmental education, local curriculum, Tbilisi Declaration

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi dalam bidang pendidikan disatu sisi  mempermudah dan mempercepat arus informasi dan materi pembelajaran, tetapi disisi lain mengeliminasi berbagai kompetensi psikomotorik dan logika berfikir bahkan berpengaruh kuat terhadap kontruksi karakter.   Perlu adanya kajian  untuk mengadaptasi, menerapkan dan mensiasati  pemilihan strategi dan media yang tepat dalam meningkatkan kualitas proses belajar sehingga mampu mengembangkan kompetensi untuk abad 21. Ketika kekuatan teknologi semakin tidak dapat dibendung, praktikum merupakan benteng terakhir yang mampu mengontruksi kompetensi berkarakter.
