Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the application of lectures in the pattern of six task models (routine tasks, critical journal analysis, textbook critical analysis, idea engineering, mini research, and projects) on students' high-order thinking in microbiology lectures. This research was conducted by using exprient method. The research population is 7 classes with a total of 280 students. The sample is determined by cluster random sampling, the class of Dik A uses six task patterns in the contextual learning order as much as 36 people and the class of Dik C with the pattern of six tasks in the direct learning order as many as 35 people. Data were obtained by using pretest and postes in the form of an essay test. The analysis technique used t test at 5% significance level. The result of the research is found that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted t calculated = 7.758 (p = 0.000), it means that pattern of six task model in contextual learning order is more effective used to influence student's high thinking skill in microbiology lecture at Biology Education Program FMIPA Universitas Negeri Medan.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Gaharu tanduk (Gonystylus macrophyllus (Miq.) Airy Shaw) merupakan salah satu spesies pohon bernilai komersial yang keberadaannya semakin langka. Spesies ini telah masuk dalam International of Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) Red List Red List Data dengan kategori rawan (Vulnerable = VU). Eksplorasi untuk memperoleh data dan informasi ilmiah tentang keberadaan pohon gaharu tanduk telah dilakukan pada bulan Juli 2009 di hutan adat Cilemoh, Jasinga, Bogor, Jawa Barat. Pengumpulan data melalui pembuatan plot pengamatan berupa lingkaran dengan radius 7,32 m. Titik tengah lingkaran tersebut adalah pangkal batang pohon cuplikan. Di dalam plot pohon cuplikan dibuat pula 1 subplot lingkaran dengan titik tengahnya pada azimut 90° berjarak 3,66 m dari titik pusat plot dengan radius 2,07 m untuk tingkat pancang dan untuk pengamatan tingkat semai dibuat 3 subplot bujur sangkar 1m x 1m berjarak 4,57 m masing-masing azimut 30°, 150° dan 270° dari titik pusat plot. Hasil eksplorasi menunjukkan bahwa hanya diperoleh satu pohon berdiameter batang 85 cm, dengan tinggi total 31 m, tanpa permudaan alam. Oleh karena itu sebelum terjadi kepunahan, pohon gaharu tanduk perlu mendapat prioritas untuk dilindungi. Perlindungan yang dilakukan dapat berbentuk konservasi in-situ yaitu upaya melestarikan jenis di habitatnya atau konservasi ex-situ dengan melestarikan di luar habitatnya. Abstract

ABSTRAK   Penelitian ini menerapkan perangkat pembelajaran biologi berbasis kooperatif tipe TPS. Tujuan  penelitian  ini adalah  meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa dan mendapatkan data tentang ketercapaian setiap indikator keterampilan  berpikir kritis. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen semu  dengan menggunakan rancangan One Group Pretest-Postest Design. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan menggunakan paired t-test. Selain itu juga dihitung peningkatan keterampilan berpikir  kritis melalui N-gain, untuk melihat keunggulan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis kooperatif tipe TPS. Sasaran penelitian adalah siswa SMA Sejahtera Tahun Ajaran 2009/2010 Kelas X-7 yang berjumlah 37 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan perangkat pembelajaran berbasis kooperatif tipe TPS dapat meningkatkan  keterampilan  berpikir kritis siswa. Ada  satu indikator yang tidak tuntas dari lima indikator berpikir kritis yang dilatihkan. Kata kunci: perangkat pembelajaran biologi, kooperatif Think Pair Share, berpikir kritis

Abstract

Implementation of Lesson Study in Biology Education Program UNP Kediri studies have been initiated since the academic year 2012/2013. In the first, conducted for the course LS SPT and SPH on the second level of the 3rd semester. Subsequent semester applied for the course LS Basic Genetics and Plant Taxonomy.Research experience as a lecturer on the implementation of the Basic Genetic models LS is advantageous because the Plan stage, preparation of syllabi and lecture plan lecturer models got a lot of feedback about the matter, both the content and linkage with the subject matter in the next semester (Advanced Genetics), being on stage Do lecturer models aided by the observer observing student participation during the lecture. At this stage of the model describes the reflection lecturer findings obtained during learning such as discipline, willingness to learn, active participation in the discussions and in the process, and input from the faculty observer findings reinforce the model, so the lack of sub-optimal learning outcomes can be immediately known, and find a way exit.The research was conducted in the course of Human Anatomy Physiology Female Reproductive System on the theme, with a sample of students of Biology Education Program UNP Kediri of 35 students, the academic year 2013/2014. The findings obtained in cycle 1 by lecturers models of group 3A is less student discipline, willingness to learn, an increase from prior LS implemented, active student better than before although not comprehensive LS only about 40% of the number of students (35 people). In cycle 2, there was an increase in time classroom discipline, a willingness to learn increases seen from the test results of the evaluation of learning is on the first cycle increased 58.7 to 71.5 (up 36 %) and students are also more active in both the discussion and the question and answer after the presentation by the group renderer. Keywords : Implementation, Lesson Study

Abstract

Research on Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) strategy implementation in Plant Anatomy Course, which aims to improve anatomic literacy of prospective student’s biology teacher, has been done.  This study used an experimental method, with a quasi experimental pretest posttest control group design. The draft includes a group of students who were given a pre-test (tests performed before PAL treatment) which is then followed by observing the PAL treatment process and posttest. The other students group (control) was given the pretest and posttest only. The research instruments include a questionnaire to recruit tutor, a set of pretest and posttest questions about anatomic literacy, tutorial about anatomic literacy, and questionnaires about student response to the PAL program. The results showed that the student’s anatomic literacy in Plant Anatomy course increased with moderate category (N-gain 0,38) in the experimental class and lower category (N-gain of 0,14) in the control class. There was significant difference between the student’s anatomic literacy that used the PAL strategy and control class with t value 3,729 greater than t table 5,278 at α 0,001. Thus the PAL strategy implementation can be used to improve student’s anatomic literacy. All students respond positively to the PAL strategy.

Abstract

Abstract - Oyster mushroom is one of the edible mushrooms consumed by people because it contains high protein, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, low carbohydrates, fat and calories. The content of bagasse are carbons, hydrogens, oxygens, crude proteins, crude fibers, hemicelluloses, celluloses and lignins. The content of banana flowers are proteins, carbohydrates, fats, phosphorus, calcium, vitamin A, B1 and C. The purpose of this research was to determine the growth and yield of white oyster mushroom (Pleurotus ostreatus) on the different composition of sawdust, bagasse and banana flowers as the planting medium. This research is an experimental study using single factor completely randomized design consisting of five treatments: E0 (960 grams sawdust, without bagasse and banana flower), E1 (930 grams sawdust, 15 grams bagasse and 15 grams banana flowers), E2 (935 grams sawdust, 15 grams bagasse and 10 grams banana flowers), E3 (920 grams sawdust, 25 grams bagasse and 15 grams banana flowers) dan E4 (925 grams sawdust, 25 grams bagasse and 10 grams banana flowers), 3 replicates of each treatment. Data analysis used WAS One Way Anova test with a significance level of 0,05. The results showed that the best medium composition of 920 grams sawdust, 25 grams bagasse and 15 grams banana flowers (E3) significantly affected the growth of oyster mushroom mycelium (25,33 days), the number of oyster mushroom fruit bodies (23,33 fruits at harvest I and 9,00 fruits at harvest II) and the fresh weight of oyster mushroom fruit bodies (110,00 grams at harvest I and 83,33 grams at harvest II). Keywords : Pleurotus ostreatus, sawdust, bagasse, banana flowers

Abstract

This research is based on the result of early observation of biology learning in class VII A SMP Nurull Anwar Desa Pakel Subdistrict Montong Tuban District showing some obstacles in the implementation of KBM, ie learning is still dominated by teachers so that students are less active in learning. The average value obtained by students 62.90. This is not in accordance with the KKM that reaches 75. This study aims to improve biology learning outcomes to be better, both individual values and classical values. To achieve that goal, the researcher uses the TTW (think talk write) model, which is in this learning. Students are asked to make notes from the reading result individually (think). Students then interact and collaborate with friends to discuss the discussed tasks previously shared Teacher (talk). Furthermore, the students write the result of the discussion (write). The research method used is Classroom Action Research Method (PTK), Action Research This class is carried out in 2 cycles. The subjects of the study were the students of class VII A Junior High School Nurul Anwar Pakel Village, Montong District, Tuban Regency in the academic year 2016/2017, which numbered 28 students. The instrument used in this study is the test of learning and observation. Learning result test is used to measure student's success, observation is used through observation format to measure teacher and student performance in learning. The results showed an increase in value between before the study, cycle I and cycle II. Previously, before the research the average value of students is only 62.90, then the value of the cycle I score in the average student obtained 72.25 with 72% complete learning. The second cycle average value increased to 87.49 with 87.50% complete learning. Thus it can be concluded that student learning outcomes both individually and classically can be improved through the TTW learning model, it is suggested that biology learning with this approach can be used as an alternative method of teacher in delivering the subject matter especially on biology.

Abstract

Filtrat daun Excoecaria agallocha menunjukkan aktivitas menghambat terhadap pathogen. Hal ini disebabkankarena filtrat daun Excoecaria agallocha mengandung kloroform dan senyawa yang dapat menyebabkan iritasipada kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian filtrat daun tanaman Excoecariaagallocha terhadap mortalitas hama pertanian ulat grayak dengan metode eksperimental menggunakanRancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) ANAVA satu arah. Sampel daun tanaman Excoecaria agallocha diperolehdari kawasan Ekowisata Mangrove Wonorejo Surabaya. Pestisida alami dibuat dengan cara merendam 500gram daun tanaman mangrove jenis Excoecaria agallocha (nodus ketiga sampai kelima) yang sudahdikeringkan dan digiling hingga halus dengan aquades sebanyak delapan liter selama 24 jam. Digunakan enamperlakuan konsentrasi dalam penelitian ini, yaitu 0%, 20%, 40%, 60%, 80% dan 100% dengan pengulanganmasing-masing sebanyak tiga kali, dan dalam pengujiannya masing-masing menggunakan 10 ekor ulat grayakinstar dua sebagai hewan uji. Filtrat ini kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam botol dan disemprotkan (masingmasing enam ml) ke ulat grayak yang merupakan salah satu hama penting pertanian. Hasil penelitianmenunjukkan bahwa pemberian filtrat daun Excoecaria agallocha berpengaruh terhadap mortalitas ulat grayak.Perlakuan filtrat 100% merupakan konsentrasi yang paling efektif dibandingkan dengan perlakuan yang lain,yaitu menyebabkan mortalitas sebesar 90% selama empat hari pengamatan.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian  deskriptif sub-kategori  survei. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui penerapan pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri dan permasalahannya dalam pembelajaran biologi SMA di Kota Malang.Secara umum penelitian dilakukan dalam beberapa tahapan, yakni:1) Menentukan masalah penelitian; 2) Membuat desain survei; 3) Mengembangkan instrumen survei; 4) Menentukan sampel; 5) Melakukan penyebaran instrumen penelitian; 6) Mengumpulkan data; 7) Memeriksa data  (editing);  8) Mengkode data; 9) Data entry; 10) Pengolahan dan analisis data; 11) Interpretasi data; dan 12) Membuat kesimpulan serta rekomendasi.Populasi penelitian sebanyak 41 sekolah terdiri dari 10 sekolah negeri dan 31 sekolah swasta. Penarikan sampel dilakukan secara berlapis (stratified sampling). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah 1) pembelajaran inkuiri yang diterapkan oleh guru biologi SMA di Kota Malang tidak sesuai dengan sintaks inkuiri  yang benar, 2) pemahaman tentang inkuiri terbimbing  tidak tepat, 3) permasalahan pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri terjadi akibat  miskonsepsi  terhadap sintaks pembelajaran berbasis inkuri dan pemahaman terhadap konsep inkuiri terbimbing. 4) penilaian pembelajaran berbasis inkuri yang dilaksanakan oleh guru biologi SMA di Kota Malang tidak sesuai dengan karakteristik penilaian inkuiri. Saran sebagai tindak lanjut agar diadakan kegiatan  yang memberikan pengalaman kepada pengajar non inkuiri menjadi pengajar inkuri melalui pemodelan padakegiatan  lesson study. Penulis juga memberikan rekomendasi kepada peneliti lain untuk melakukan penelitian pengembangan guna menghilangkan miskonsepsi terhadap pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri dan pengembangan asesmen yang tepat untuk pembelajaran berbasis inkuiri.  Kata kunci:  pembelajaran inkuiri,  permasalahan pembelajaran inkuiri, mata pelajaran  biologi SMA, Kota Malang
