Abstract

This study aims to examine and analyze the growth and survival of mud crab (Scylla serrata) with different water sources and different types of feed. This study used a design Plots Divided (Split Plot Design), with the main plot of water resources (soil and brackish water and brackish water of the channel) and the subplot kind of feed (trash fish, squid, crab wideng) with replications for three (3) times . Feeding twice a day ie morning (at 06.00) and afternoon (17:00 hours) at a dose of 15% of the feed weight. The study was conducted from November to December 2013. Biota initial weight ± 100 g. Parameters measured were the growth of the absolute weight of mud crab (Scylla serrata) and survival rates. The results showed growth in the absolute weight of mud crab (Scylla serrata) week 1 to week 4, there is a tendency to rise and survival rate evenly among all treatments. The growth of the absolute weight of mud crab (Scylla serrata) the best of the week 1 to week 4 are the treatment of brackish ground water sources and feeding trash fish. At week 4, which is the end of the study the highest absolute growth of 57.7600 g ± 5:44 (brackish ground water and trash fish) and the lowest was 35.0000 ± 1.80 g (brackish ground water and crab wideng). As for the survival rate of mud crab (Scylla serrata) at 96.3% on a weekly basis.Keywords : feed type, survival, growth,, Scylla serrata, water resources.

Abstract

The study aims to determine: (1) The results expert material validation of worksheet that has been developed;(2) The results of design experts validation of worksheet that has been developed; (3) Response of lecturer ofmicrobiology subject to worksheet that has been developed; (4) Perception of University of Medan BiologyEducation students to Worksheet that has been developed; (5) The eligibility of Worksheet for BiologyEducation students of State University of Medan. This development study uses a modified Borg & Gall modelas needed to produce a product of a contextual inquiry-based worksheet. The subjects test consisted of a teamof material experts, a team of design specialists, 3 (three) students individual testing of biological education, 9(nine) students of Biology education small group trial, 20 (twenty) students of Biology education limited fieldtrial. Data collected using questionnaires. The results of material expert validation to microfinance basedworksheet in context of water microbiology materials that have been developed with the feasibility of thecontents show the percentage of 93.75% included in the category of very good; Feasibility of presentationshows the percentage of 91.44% included in the category of very good; The feasibility of the contextual inquirycomponent indicates the percentage of 87.82% in the category of good good; The design validation results showthat 89.06% percentage is included in the category of very good; The result of the assessment by the lecturershows the percentage of 93.75% is included in the category of very good; Individual tests show the percentageof 86,66% included in the category of very good; Small group test showed 87.22% percentage included in thecategory of very good; The test of the restricted group shows the percentage of 91.12% included in the thecategory of very good. Test based on the data the product worksheet based on inquiry of contextual materialof water microbiology which have been developed feasible to be used for student as worksheet in Microbiologycourse.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa pada materi ekosistem dengan penerapan strategi pembelajaran Reading Guide  dengan media Powerpoint pada siswa kelas VII C SMP Negeri 3 Kartasura tahun ajaran 2011/2012. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, refleksi dan evaluasi dengan menggunakan strategi pembelajaran Reading Guide dengan media komputer program   Powerpoint yang dilaksanakan dalam II siklus dan  target nilai kognitif siswa 75% di atas KKM. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis data deskriptif kualitatif yaitu dengan cara menganalisis data perkembangan siswa dari siklus I sampai dengan siklus II melalui tiga tahapan yaitu reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh dari hasil belajar (aspek kognitif) mata pelajaran biologi dan pengamatan sikap siswa selama proses pembelajaran berlangsung (aspek afektif) antara peneliti dengan kolaborator. Hasil penelitian tindakan kelas adalah peningkatan prosentase hasil belajar (aspek kognitif) siswa, banyaknya siswa yang memperoleh nilai > 69 sebelum tindakan sebanyak 20 siswa (57,14%), siklus I aspek kognitif meningkat menjadi 24 siswa (68,57%);  rata-rata aspek afektif = 13,05 (termasuk katagori berminat). Pada siklus II aspek kognitif meningkat menjadi 33 siswa (94,28%); rata-rata aspek afektif meningkat menjadi = 17,77 (termasuk kategori sangat berminat). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh  prosentase nilai kognitif (57,14%<68,57%<94,28%) dan rata-rata nilai afektif (13,05<17,77). Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah penerapan strategi pembelajaran Reading Guide dengan media komputer program Powerpoint dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar biologi siswa kelas VII C SMP Negeri 3 Kartasura.  Kata kunci : Strategi Pembelajaran Reading Guide dengan media komputer program Powerpoint, Hasil Belajar

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to identify the profile of multiple representations ability of  prospective physics teachers in solving physics problems. Study subjects were 35 undergraduate students who have followed the general physics course.  The study was conducted at an LPTK in North Sumatra. The research method is descriptive method. The ability of MR profile  prospective teacher includes the format: 1) verbal representation; 2) mathematical representation; 3) representation of  graph, and 4) a pictorial representation (drawing/ diagram). The research instrument consists of 16 item multiple choice questions with 5 options (are four items for each representation format). The quality of student representation capability based on the accumulated answer to each student representation format qualitatively made in four categories, namely: 1) excellent with a score of 4; 2) good category with a score of 3; 3) poor category with a score of 2; and 4) the category of very poor with score of £ 1. The study results indicate that the ability of the highest student representation is the ability of the mathematical representation (80.0% in a good and excellent categories). The next representation ability is verbal representation (71,40% in the good and excellent category). While the pictorial representation of only 34.4% which is in the good and excellent category and 65.6% is still in the poor and very poor category. The lowest representation ability is the graphical representation format (only 22.9% in good, while 77.1% are in poor and very poor category. The average scores from the highest to the lowest are: mathematical representation,  2.91; verbal representation, = 2.74; pictorial representation, = 2.26, and the graphical representation of = 1.89..Keywords:      multipel representasi, representasi verbal, representasi matematis, representasi grafik, representasi piktorial

Abstract

Learning media used in anatomy courses in human physiology have not utilized information technology integration. Learning activities carried out are still in the form of discussion presentations by utilizing power point media that tend to less activate the thinking ability of students so that the concept of material delivered is difficult to understand. The purpose of this study was to collect information in the form of fundamental problems in the study of human physiology anatomy so that it can be used as a basis for the preparation of multimedia with the STEM Education model. The method used in this study, namely Research and Development refers to the Thiagarajan development model, namely stage 1 (define) and stage 2 (design). The instruments in this study were (1) interview transcripts, (2) observation transcripts, (3) questionnaires, and (4) documentation. The results of the needs analysis show that as follows (1) 31.75% anatomical learning of human physiology is less interesting in terms of models and learning media. (2) 7.14% of students have known the STEM Education model. (3) 88.10% of students need learning media integrated with information technology and learning models that familiarize them with critical thinking skills. (4) human physiology anatomy subjects suggest using multimedia with the STEM Education model that matches the characteristics of students and the curriculum used. Based on the results of the above research it can be concluded that it is very necessary to develop multimedia anatomy of human physiology with the STEM Education model. Suggestions for further research are to carry out a multimedia design that is integrated with technology based on student characteristics and stimulates students' critical thinking skills.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Para ahli klimatologi memperkirakan dampak pemanasan global akan menyebabkan terjadinya periode kekeringan yang lama. Periode kekeringan sering berasosiasi dengan peristiwa ENSO (El Nino Southern Oscillation). Dibanding dekade sebelumnya, peristiwa ENSO diramalkan akan lebih sering terjadi di masa datang.  Saat musim kering panjang dan berasosiasi dengan peristiwa ENSO sering diiringi oleh penurunan pertumbuhan bahkan kematian tanaman. Tanaman yang mengalami cekaman kekeringan akan berusaha untuk melakukan perubahan-perubahan fisiologi sebagai bentuk adaptasinya. Salah satu bentuk adaptasi tersebut adalah kemampuan tanaman untuk mempertahankan tekanan osmotik dengan mengakumulasi senyawa osmolit  sel sebagai respon terhadap perubahan potensial air dari lingkungan sel. Sebagai konsekuensi dari akumulasi ini, potensial osmotik sel lebih rendah dan cenderung untuk menjaga tekanan turgor. Proline bebas sering terakumulasi selama tanaman mengalami kekeringan yang disebabkan oleh aktivasi biosintesa  dan inaktivasi  degradasi proline. Seringkali peningkatan jumlah proline  dianggap merupakan indikasi toleransi terhadap  kekeringan. Namun demikian masih terjadi kontrovesi tentang fungsi proteksi dari akumulasi proline karena beberapa kasus menunjukkan jika terjadi  over produksi proline justru dapat berakibat buruk saat tanaman menghadapi kondisi cekaman kekeringan. Tulisan ini bertujuan mengkaji peranan dan pola akumulasi proline pada tanaman dalam menghadapi cekaman kekeringan.   Kata Kunci:  Proline, pola akumulasi prolin, cekaman kekeringan

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adanya perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif biologi akibat penerapan pembelajaran ClassWide Peer Tutoring dengan pembelajaran multimodel pada siswa kelas X SMA Laboratorium Universitas Negeri Malang Tahun Pelajaran 2007/2008.Sejalan dengan tujuan yang ingin dicapai, metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah  penelitian quasi eksperimen. Desain penelitian dirancang dengan desain pretes dan postes dengan kelompok tidak diacak. Sampel dipilih dua kelas yang ada dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 31 siswa untuk kelompok kontrol dan 31 siswa untuk kelompok eksperimen dari total populasi kelas X sebanyak enam kelas dengan jumlah siswa sebanyak 186 orang. Analisis statistik yang digunakan adalah analisis kovarian (anakova) dengan melakukan kontrol terhadap nilai pretes masing variabel terikat. Analisis anakova memanfaatkan aplikasi SPSS 16,0 for Windows.Hasil uji statistik dengan anakova pada variabel terikat hasil belajar kognitif dengan melakukan kontrol terhadap nilai pretes menunjukkan bahwa nilai F hitung untuk strategi pernbelajaran adalah 5,764 dengan taraf signifikansi 0,020. Oleh karena taraf signifikansi 0,020 < 0,05 maka hipotesis nol (H0) ditolak dan hipotesis alternatif (H1) diterima. Jika Ho ditolak dan H1 diterima maka hipotesis penelitian ini diterima, artinya ada perbedaan hasil belajar kognitif biologi akibat pembelajaran CWPT dan hasil belajar kognitif biologi akibat pembelajaran multimodel pada siswa kelas X SMA Laboratoriurn Universitas Negeri Malang tahun pelajaran2007/2008.Kata Kunci: Classwide Peer Tutoring, hasil belajar kognitif

Abstract

This research is a development research with the aim to produce product in the form of IPA Module of Solar Matter Based on Perspective Al-qur'an Verses In SMPIT and MTs class VII. The problems in this study include, the limited module used as a reference of learning that contain the relationship between science materials and verses of the Qur'an. So that raises the formulation of the problem how to develop IPA module Solar Problem Material Based on Perspectives Al-qur'an verses are valid, practical and effective. This research is expected to facilitate the comprehension of students in understanding the science materials related to the verses of Al-Qur'an and not only to increase the knowledge of students but also to play a supporting role in filling the students character education. This research development uses R & D method (Research and Development) with 4-D development model (Four D Model) with three stages of research that is Define (define), Design (design) and Develop (development). The module validation test generated in this study was conducted by 3 expert validators in the field of science education.The trials were conducted on 20 MTs students. Manbail Futuh Jenu class VII. Data collection to test the practicality of this research using observation and test techniques. Collecting data of effectiveness using questionnaire technique. The results show that the modules developed have met the valid, practical and effective criteria.

Abstract

Abstrak   Pembelajaran dengan metode ceramah, diskusi, dan praktikum belum bisa memfasilitasi bentuk representasi makroskopis, simbolis, dan mikroskopis secara optimal, terutama untuk materi ajar biologi sel yang bersifat abstrak. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan menerapkan pembelajaran berbasis keterampilan berpikir kritis. Berdasarkan pemikiran tersebut, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk merancang dan mengembangkan model pembelajaran biologi sel berbasis keterampilan berpikir kritis menggunakan “concepts attainment model”. Desain penelitian menggunakan “One Group Pretest-Postest Design” yang melibatkan 39 mahasiswa tingkat II semester III Program S-1. Data pretest dan postest diolah untuk mengetahui peningkatan pencapaian konsep mahasiswa. Respon mahasiswa dan dosen terhadap model pembelajaran diketahui melalui Angket dan Wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran ini dapat meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis mahasiswa pada nilai N-Gain katagori sedang. Peningkatan keterampilan berpikir kritis tertinggi terjadi pada aspek menjawab pertanyaan “apa yang dimaksud dengan…?”, sedangkan yang terendah pada “kemampuan untuk memberikan alasan”, Secara umum pembelajaran “concepts attainment model” mendapat respon positif dari mahasiswa dan dosen biologi. Abstract

Research on increased activity and student learning outcomes have been made to the students of Grade X MIA 2 SMAN 5 Banjarmasin on Archaebacreria And eubacteria. This study aims to increase student activity, student learning outcomes, teacher activity and student responses on the class X MIA 2 SMAN 5 Banjarmasin to learning materials archaebacteria and eubacteria using Problem Solving learning model. The research was descriptive with classroom action research (PTK) with a research subject is class X MIA 2 SMAN 5 Banjarmasin. The results showed that the learning model of Problem Solving in archaebacteria and eubacteria material can enhance the activity of students with grades in the first cycle ie 95.05% on sikus II acquired 98.88%. Teacher activity decreased from the first cycle to the second cycle of 100% and 85%. Classical completeness results on the first cycle has an average value of 25%, while in the second cycle increased ie 87.67% of the data obtained shows the achievement of classical completeness is set at ≥ 85%. During the learning process of students in the first cycle has an average value of 66.24%, while the second cycle is 86.18% with the good category. Student responses using Problem Solving learning model states 45.89% agree.Keywords: Problem Solving, Activities, Learning Outcomes and archaebacteria and eubacteria, characteristics and roles
