Abstract

Students' critical thinking skills are still in the low category. Students are familiar with questions at the Low Order Thinking Skills (LOTS), which rely on memory and memorization, so when faced with problems that require critical thinking to analyze and solve problems, they tend to have difficulty. This study aims to improve students' critical thinking through integrated role play problem based learning. This study used the class action research method, which was carried out in three cycles. The research subjects were 35 students in class VII C of SMP Bina Insan Mandiri. The instrument used in this study is a test item according to critical thinking indicators. The data analysis technique used in this study is a qualitative descriptive technique. The results of method showed the average student's critical thinking increased from the pre-cycle to the last cycle. During the pre-cycle, the average critical thinking of students was 35% in the low category; cycle 1 was 55% in the medium category; cycle 2 was 70% in the high category; and cycle 3 was 81% in the very high category. It can be concluded that differentiated in problem-based learning integrated with role play can improve students' critical thinking in science learning.

Abstract

The rapid environmental changes caused by human activities have become a pressing global issue. Problems such as climate crises, pollution, loss of biodiversity, and other environmental damage require serious attention from all sectors. This study aims to analyze environmental literacy in high schools through a literature review focused on the concept and challenges of its implementation. The study uses a literature review approach to analyze the role of environmental literacy in high school education. This approach was chosen to provide an in-depth understanding of previous research findings related to environmental literacy. Through this literature review, the research can identify trends, challenges, and gaps in the teaching of environmental literacy in high schools. Environmental literacy is defined as students' ability to understand and apply basic environmental concepts and make wise decisions in maintaining environmental sustainability. However, its implementation in high schools still faces many obstacles, such as a lack of practical education, theoretical learning approaches, and low student interest and concern for environmental issues. This study uses a literature review approach to identify trends, gaps, and challenges in the teaching of environmental literacy, as well as provide recommendations to improve the effectiveness of environmental education in high schools. The results are expected to contribute to global efforts in mitigating environmental problems through education.

Abstract

Microplastics in the bodies of aquatic biota can have a negative impact either on aquatic biota or humans who consume them. One of the largest markets in Yogyakarta that sells aquatic commodities is Beringharjo Market. This research was done to analyze the abundance and characteristics of microplastics contained in the digestive tract and meat of vannamei shrimp (Litopenaeus vannamei) sold at Beringharjo Market. Microplastics were isolated from digestive tract and meat using 10% KOH at room temperature for three days. The microplastics are then filtered and observed under a microscope. The average abundance of microplastics in the digestive tract and meat was analyzed using Mann-Whitney test. The results showed that the abundance of microplastics in the digestive tract (933.00 ± 380.17 microplastics/gram) was higher than in meat (759.25 ± 254.21 microplastics/gram), but was not significantly different (p>0, 05). The average of fragments and fibers microplastics between the digestive tract and meat was significantly different (p<0.05), while the average of films and pellets microplastics was not significantly different (p>0.05). The color of microplastics was not significantly different (p>0.05). The most dominant size of microplastics is in the range of 0-100 μm, each at 40%. FT-IR results showed that the vannamei shrimp samples contained nylon type microplastics. Microplastics in the digestive tract and meat of vannamei shrimp sold at Beringharjo Market have the same abundance and characteristics.

Abstract

Typhoid fever is an infectious disease of the gastrointestinal tract caused by Salmonella typhi. Typhoid fever is often found in developing countries, including Indonesia. Earthworm Lumbricus rubellus contains lumbricin, which helps cure typhoid fever. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of L. rubellus worm powder on the acceptance rate of panelists and the effect on inhibiting the growth of S. typhi bacteria. The research was carried out by adding worm powder with concentrations of 0%, 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% to tempeh. Furthermore, tempeh products were tested with organoleptic tests and antibacterial tests against S. typhi using the well diffusion method. Data were analyzed using SPSS with the Kruskal-Wallis test. The results of the study on the antibacterial test showed that the addition of worm powder can increase the effectiveness of antibacterial, with the highest inhibition zone at a concentration of 1.5%, reaching 13 mm. In the organoleptic test, the value of the panelists' acceptance decreased along with the increase in the concentration of worm powder. At the concentrations of 0% and 0.5%, the panelists' response was still good, but at the concentrations of 1% and 1.5%, some began to dislike it.

Abstract

Adanya revitalisasi dan penataan area Situ Bagendit dilakukan dalam rangka mempertahankan fungsi dalam pemeliharaan menjaga kelestarian lingkungan dan fungsi ekonomi. Kawasan Situ Bagendit sudah resmi dibuka lagi sejak tahun 2023 sebagai tempat wisata sehingga diharapkan mampu meningkatkan perekonomian masyarakat sekitar Kabupaten Garut. Kualitas Air Situ Bagendit dalam status hipertrofik (Hidayat, 2021) dan eutrofikasi yang artinya sudah terjadi pencemaran tinggi (Surtikanti dkk, 2023). Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat di Situ Bagendit dengan tema penuangan ekoenzim di danau Situ Bagendit, bertujuan untuk memperbaiki kualitas air. Kegiatan ini melibatkan beberapa Perguruan Tinggi yaitu Universitas Padjadjaran, Universitas Ma’soem, Universitas Winaya Mukti. Sekolah Tinggi Ilmu Kesehatan DHB, Universitas Islam As-syafiiyah, Universitas Islam Nusantara, Komunitas Ekoenzim Bandung, Rumah Edukasi Ecoenzym & Sekolah Konservasi Garut, Rumah Sakit Hasan Sadikin Bandung, guru-guru Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) Biologi Kabupaten Garut dan Lions Club LCJS Metteyya Mahardhika Jakarta Selatan dengan total peserta berjumlah 110 orang. Ekoenzim yang terkumpul dari para komunitas mencapai 1.000 liter. Penuangan dilakukan di lima titik yaitu: menara swafoto, taman teratai, warung apung, masjid apung dan tempat rekreasi. Setelah kegiatan penuangan ekoenzim di Situ Bagendit diharapkan kualitas air menjadi lebih baik dan masyarakat lain dari seluruh instansi termotivasi untuk ikut berperan membuat ekoenzim (daur ulang limbah organik) dan ikut terlibat dalam menjaga kualitas danau. Abstract

Ubi Kayu kuning juga dikenal   dikenal sebagai ubi kayu manis atau sweet cassava (Manihot esculanta), adalah genotip ubi kayu yang memiliki warna umbi yang khas, yaitu kuning. Ubi kayu kuning juga memilki nilai ekonomi yang penting. Selain digunakan sebagai sumber pangan, umbi ubi kayu kuning juga digunakan dalam industri makanan untuk menghasilkan tepung ubi kayu yang dapat digunakan dalam pembuatan roti, dan kue. Selain itu ubi kayu kuning juga dapat digunakan dalam industri olahan, seperti bioetanol dan bahan baku industri kimia. Pembudidayaan ubi kayu melalui teknik in vitro memberikan peluang untuk melakukan perbanyakan secara massal. Perbanyakan secara in vitro yang akan dipadukan dengan teknik lain seperti radiasi akan bermanfaat untuk menunjang kegiatan penelitian perbaikan tanaman. Keragaman genetik pada tanaman dapat ditingkatkan dengan mutasi menggunakan radiasi sinar gamma dari Cobalt 60 (Co60). Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mempelajari pertumbuhan ubi kuning hasil radiasi dengan dua dosis radiasi (5 gray dan 30 gray).Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah rancangan acak lengkap sederhana (RAL) dengan satu faktor perlakuan yaitu sinar gamma dari Cobalt-60 (Co60). Dosis radiasi yang digunakan adalah 0, 5, dan 30 Gray (Gy). Kemudian dilakukan sub kultur setelah penanaman selama 60 hari, tanaman yang masih hidup yaitu pada dosis 5 gray dan 30 gray. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh menunjukkan plantlet hasil radiasi sinar gamma dengan dosis 5 gray pertumbuhannya terhambat yang terlihat dari tinggi tanaman (2 - 2.3 cm) yang nilainya lebih rendah dibanding dengan kontrol (2.5 -.2.7 cm).  Pada dosis 30 gray beberapa tanaman pertumbuhannya terhambat, tetapi tidak terlalu jauh jika dibandingkan kontrol.  Pada dosis 30 gray beberapa tanaman pada beberapa kali periode sub kultur menggunakan media MS tanpa zat pengatur tumbuh. Sub kultur pada media MS dilakukan setelah tunas ubi kayu hasil radiasi radiasi berumur 60 hari dengan periode sub kultur setiap 2 minggu yang dilakukan sebanyak 2 kali. Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa Parameter pertumbuhan yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun dan jumlah akar dari plantlet hasil radiasi sinar gamma dengan dosis 5  gray  pada media MS tanpa zat pengatur tumbuh  terlihat dari pertumbuhannya  terhambat,  tetapi tidak  terlalu  jauh  jika  dibandingkan  kontrol. Hasil  penelitian  yang  telah  diperoleh diharapkan  dapat  dimanfaatkan  untuk mendapatkan  kandidat  ubi  kayu  unggul  baik daya hasilnya maupun kandungan nutrisinya.

Abstract

The development of science and technology until the 21st century is inseparable from skills that begin withbasic skills to observe a phenomenon and then continue with more complex skills. This skill is called scienceprocess skills. The research conducted is qualitative descriptive with the aim of classifying the science processskills of students. The subjects of the study are 35 students of class X-A SMKN 2 Sukoharjo for the 2024/2025academic year. Data collection was carried out through a science process skills test for science subjects. Thescience process skills test instrument includes 11 indicators consisting of 20 multiple-choice test items. Theanalysis was carried out on the results of the students' tests on each indicator and categorized into five categoriesof science process skills consisting of very good (SB), good (B), medium (S), poor (K), and very poor (SK).The results of the study showed that the average score of the highest science process skill indicator was obtainedin the classification indicator, which was 55 with the category of less (K). The indicator defines operationallyand makes a hypothesis that it has the lowest average score of 27 with a very poor category (SK). Based onthese results, it is evident that students' science process skills still need to be trained so that they can beimproved. So, teachers need to implement meaningful science learning in order to improve students' scienceprocess skills.

Abstract

Biodiversity is a crucial element in ecosystems and human life. The Jatimalang River in Sukoharjo Regency, Central Java, is an ecosystem rich in biodiversity, particularly within the Angiospermae plant group. This study aims to identify the species of Angiospermae along the Jatimalang River and analyze their distribution based on environmental conditions. The results show the diversity of Angiospermae species from various families, including Poaceae, Musaceae, Fabaceae, and Euphorbiaceae, which demonstrate complex ecological adaptations to local conditions. This study is expected to contribute to conservation efforts and natural resource management in the region. By prioritizing the protection of important habitats and conducting further research, the Jatimalang River area can continue to support ecosystem sustainability and the welfare of the communities dependent on it.

Abstract

Jamur tiram dan buah pisang merupakan produk hasil rumah tangga yang memiliki produktifitas tinggi. Kedua bahan tersebut memerlukan pengolahan lebih lanjut, agar memiliki nilai konsumsi lebih tinggi. Tingginya produksi jamur tiram dan jamur di Desa Sidomulyo menyebabkan permasalahan bagamana kedua bahan ini akan dimanfaatkan sebagai produk pangan. Oleh karena itu, pelatihan dan pendampingan diversifikasi olahan nugget jamur dan brownies pisang crispy pada peserta Women Skills Academy (WSA) Sidomulyo dilakukan dengan memanfaatkan jamur tiram dan buah pisang. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah observasi permasalahan, sosialisasi program, persiapan materi dan alat bahan, pretest, praktik, diskusi dan posttest. Kegiatan diikuti oleh peserta WSA Sidomulyo dengan pemateri Tim PPK Ormawa HMPS Biologi UAD. Peserta dibagi menjadi 2 kelompok olahan nugget jamur dan 2 kelompok brownies pisang crispy. Materi diberikan kepada peserta dalam bentuk powerpoint dan modul yaitu a Pocket Book Independent Women (POBOMEN). Pelaksanaan pembuatan olahan diikuti dengan antusias yang ditunjukkan dengan peran aktif peserta pada sesi diskusi. Setelah dilakukan pelatihan pada peserta WSA, didapatkan persentase kompetensi pengetahuan pembuatan brownies pisang crispy 43,75% menjadi 75% dan persentase kemampuan pengolahan brownies pisang crispy 49% menjadi 75%.  Persentase kompetensi pengetahuan pembuatan nugget jamur 50% menjadi 83%, sedangkan persentase kemampuan pengolahan nugget jamur 53% menjadi 89%. Diharapkan bahwa dengan adanya pelatihan ini nugget jamur dan brownies pisang crispy dapat menjadi salah satu referensi masyarakat dalam membuat produk olahan pangan khas warga Desa Sidomulyo sehingga aktivitas ekonomi masyarakat meningkat dan kesejahteraan masyarakat dapat membaik.

Abstract

Effective communication that occurs between educators (teachers) and students can be done by building a learning atmosphere accompanied by teacher praise for student work, accompanied by challenging teacher questions, and encouragement for students to experiment which is very important for teachers. The effect of effective and precise and varied communication plays a very important role in improving student learning outcomes. Students are more enthusiastic and motivated to express words and sentences. The use of effective communication becomes an attractive medium and can increase mastery of learning materials. Praising students' creativity must be adjusted to their character and nature. Sometimes, there are students who do not like to be praised for too long or even exhibited and sometimes there are also students who are praised for their learning motivation will be more motivated. Learning by using effective communication can be a good tool that can be used in schools. The use of effective communication media is not only at school but at home, because it can help accelerate mastery of subject matter. Students will express their ideas and thoughts freely so that they practice speaking skills and use the right language to communicate. For this reason, it is very important that an effective communication occurs between educators (teachers) and students (students) in the learning process in order to achieve successful learning.
