Abstract

ABSTRAK Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui : 1) implementasi  bahan ajar berbasis masalah  dalam merangsang kemandirian belajar mahasiswa pada   mata kuliah Plant Embryology and Reproduction, 2) penggunaan bahan ajar berbasis masalah  dalam meningkatkan keaktifan mahasiswa  pada mata kuliah Plant Embryology and Reproduction Penelitian ini merupakan  penelitian tindakan kelas (Classroom Action research) yang dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus meliputi identifikasi permasalahan yang ada di kelas, perencanaan tindakan berupa penyusunan langkah-langkah pembelajaran, pelaksanaan tindakan berupa penerapan bahan ajar berbasis masalah, observasi dan evaluasi, serta refleksi untuk tindakan berikutnya. Subyek penelitian adalah mahasiswa semester 4 program SBI di Prodi P. Biologi UNS tahun ajaran 2009/2010 sejumlah 21 mahasiswa. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan metode  observasi, wawancara, angket, tes dan kajian dokumen.Validitas data dengan teknik triangulasi. Analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan,  secara umum didapatkan bahwa pada akhir siklus 2,  prosentase mahasiswa yang lulus sebesar 100% dengan prosentase nilai A dan B.  Penelitian dinyatakan selesai pada akhir siklus 2 karena indikator kinerja yang diharapkan  yaitu jumlah mahasiswa yang lulus minimal sebesar 80%  dengan prosentase mahasiswa yang memperoleh nilai diatas B sebesar 66,67%,  meningkatnya kemandirian belajar dan keaktifan mahasiswa serta meningkatnya performansi mengajar dosen di mata mahasiswa sudah tercapai. Kesimpulan yang bisa diambil adalah 1) bahan ajar berbasis masalah  dapat merangsang kemandirian belajar mahasiswa 2) penggunaan bahan ajar berbasis masalah  dapat meningkatkan keaktifan mahasiswa   baik dalam pencarian sumber belajar maupun partisipasi  dalam pembelajaran.   Kata kunci :  bahan ajar,  berbasis masalah, kemandirian belajar

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the profile of the utilization of information and communication technology (ICT) as well as the potential for blended learning development in students of Biology Education Department of Teacher Training and Education Faculty of UNS. The research is descriptive research. The sample used is biology education student consist of students in 2nd, 4th, and 6th semester totaled 90 students on academic year 2014/ 2015 .The survey proportionally was done in March 2015. The data of the  research described qualitatively as well as using descriptive statistics. The utilization of information and communication technology on biology education student of is quite high and mostly used for purposes of social networking which is indicated by average of social network account ownership is more than 4 social network accounts. In addition, the frequency of internet access per student are also high that is once a day as many as 35 students (38.89%) more than once/week as much as 9 students (10%), once a week as much as 1 student (1.11%), and the rest with a frequency not necessarily as many as 45 students (50%). The development of blended learning in Biology Education is possible to do. This is supported by the existence of various activities the use of ICT for the purposes of teaching and learning for example for assignments submitting via e-mail, accessing material of the lectures of lecture’s blog or another site suggested by lecturer, accessing the journal research or subject content, discussion through social networking guided by the lecturer. The form of the development of blended learning which most allows is to use the LMS (Learning Management System).Keywords: utilization of ICT, blended learning

Abstract

Kediri is an industrial town in which the industry has become main commodity livelihood for its citizen. The rapid of technology encourages the growth of industries that have great contribution for environmental pollution; one of them is sugar factory in Kediri. This factory produces liquid waste that it contains organic and un-organic compounds which its presence trigger Eichornia Crassipes grows rapidly in the river. In addition, Eichomia Crassipes has a potential as an Agnesia cleaners. This study is aimed at determining the effect of sugar factory liquid waste to the growth of Eichornia Crassipes. True experimental type RAK was selected as a research design, in which the treatment was done by 0% (as control), 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% and it was repeated 5 times. Observed parameter included root length, stem length, length and width of leaf. The systematic data was analyzed using STAT program version 2.6. the results showed significant differences in the growth of the Eichornia Crassipes  morphology on root length, stem length, length and width of leaf width and the 100 % liquid waste of sugar factory  highest average was found on the length root of stalk. On the other side, liquid waste of sugar’s factory can be used as an organic fertilizer to some extent (deposited waste). Keywords: Eichornia Crassipes, liquid waste, morphological structure

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to inventarize (1) an inventory species of Spermatophyte and (2) determine theindex of diversity and dominance of Spermatophyte species of hills Tlogodlingo area. This study is a descriptiveeksplorasif study conducted Tlogodlingo in Tawangmangu District of Karanganyar. The population in thisstudy is all types of plants in the hills Tlogodlingo. Sample in this research is type spermatophyta in hilly ofTlogodlingo. Determination of place as the location of sampling is done by purposive sampling. Sampling datais taken on each observation using method of quadratic sampling. The results showed that there are 12 speciesof plants Spermatophyta, namely Acacia decurrens, Ficus firtulosa, Melastoma malabathricum, Eupatoriumodoratum, Ageratum conyzoides, Imperata cyliandrica, Lantana camara, Polygala paniculata, Eupatoriumriparium, Borreria alata, Emilia sonchifolia, and Synedrella nodiflora. The value of diversity index ofSpermatophytes obtained in is 0.686 that means the diversity is low at hilly Tlogodlingo. The highestdominance index was Imperata cyliandrica and the lowest dominance index was Synedrella nodiflora..

Abstract

Hormon estrogen sering digunakan oleh masyarakat khusnya wanita untuk pencegahan dan pengobatan penyakit. Bengkuang merupakan kelompok tanaman fitoestrogen  karena mengandung senyawa isoflavon dengan struktur kimia mirip hormon estrogen. Tujuan penelitian adalah melakukan pengujian terhadap kandungan fitoestrogen umbi bengkuang, dinamikanya dalam serum serta potensinya pada tikus butih  betina. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan eksperimen pola Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan perlakuan pemberian umbi bengkuang dan senyawa sintetis daidzein pada 24 ekor tikus putih jenis Sprague Dawley umur 5 bulan selama 24 hari. Takaran daidzein yang diberikan berdasarkan kadar daidzein pada 1,5 ml perasan umbi bengkuang. Pengambilan darah dilakukan pada 3 fraksi (jam ke-8, 16, dan 24 setelah perlakuan). Pembedahan dan pengambilan organ uterus dilakukan pada hari ke-25, pembuatan preparat jaringan dengan pewarnaan HE. Pengujian kadar daidzein dianalisis dengan metode HPLC.  Perubahan struktur jaringan uterus dianalisis secara diskriptif terhadap lapisan endometrium, miometrium dan mukosa uterus.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kadar daidzein dalam serum dengan pemberian perasan umbi bengkuang pada fraksi 1, 2, dan 3 lebih rendah daripada pemberian senyawa sintetis daidzein. Jaringan endometrium uterus mengalami proliferasi, serta proliferasi kelenjar uterina pada perlakuan pemberian perasan umbi bengkuang. Kesimpulan menunjukkan umbi bengkuang dapat meningkatkan kadar daidzein yang berpotensi sebagai estrogen alami.   Kata kunci: Umbi Bengkuang; Fitoestrogen; Daidzein; Uterus

Abstract

The succsessfull of learning at university is not beyond from lecturer’s role on giving motivation to students to do activity while they do learning activity so that it creates a positive interaction among students as well as between students and lecturer.Learning atmosphere in class on Curriculum Development Course of IPA at Junior High School needs to be improved because their activities in accepting critics and suggestions from their mate was hampered. It was also probability caused by the students in that course came from two different classes. The efforts which can be conducted in improving students’ activity is by applying the Modified Pair Checks Learning Based Lesson Study. The Modified Pair Checks is a modification from Pair Checks learning model, which is modify the number of member in the 1 group from 2 become 4 students, so it is called as Square Checks. The students work together to solve the problems in pair and then they check their assignments with their pairs. Applying the Modified Pair Checks Based Lesson Study aims to improve students’ activity. Subject of the research is the students of Biology Education program on 7th semester offering B and offering C on 2014/2015 academic year in State University of Malang which consists of 17 students, 4 male students and 13 female students. The data analysis used is qualitative descriptive analysis. Result of the research showed that there was an improvement in students learning activity through applying the Modified Pair Checks Based Lesson Study. They were 1,12% in the first meeting and 16,1% in the second meeting.Keywords:        modified pair checks, lesson study, learning activity

Abstract

South Kalimantan is a potential region of Indonesia to develop local rice plants with adaptation to tidal swamp. This study aimed to identify the level of soil pyrite on tidal swamp land in BarambaiKolamKiri Village, Barito Kuala Regency, South Kalimantan. The method used in this research was a survey method in which observation and soil sample were taken systematically based on soil depth. Soil sampling for the direct qualitative test was carried out using a soil auger. Soil profile for observation of soil morphological characteristics was determined based on the result of the soil auger data. The data of soil resulted from field and laboratory analysis were used to compare soil characteristics and level of soil pyrite among horizon. The morphological soil characteristics observation in tidal swamp land showed that the profile thickness was 0-120 cm, there are two types of horizon including horizon A and B, soil color was grayish brown to dark gray, texture was sandy loam and clay loam, and soil consistency were sticky and plastic. Based on the six soil layers tested, three different pyrite levels were identified: low, medium and high. The results of this study will be used to develop local rice plants with adaptation to high pyrite in tidal swamp land.

Abstract

ABSTRAK   Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan minyak atsiri jahe merah dan lengkuas merah serta pengaruh inkorporasi minyak atsiri jahe merah dan lengkuas merah terhadap aktivitas antimikroba dan karakteristik sensori edible film tapioka. Aktivitas antioksidan diuji menggunakan metode DPPH. Pengujian aktivitas antimikroba dilakukan terhadap bakteri Pseudomonas putida dan Pseudomonas fluorescens sedangkan karakteristik sensori diuji dengan metode perbandingan jamak dan metode hedonik. Aktivitas antioksidan yang dihasilkan sebesar 16.61% untuk minyak atsiri jahe merah dan 22.22% untuk minyak atsiri lengkuas merah. Aktivitas antimikroba edible film dengan inkorporasi 0.1% minyak atsiri jahe merah mampu menghambat Pseudomonas putida sebesar 2.45 cm dan Pseudomonas fluorescens sebesar 1.92 cm sedangkan inkorporasi dengan minyak atsiri lengkuas merah masing-masing menghambat sebesar 2.35 cm dan 2.42 cm (diameter edible film 1.3 cm). Berdasarkan uji perbandingan jamak diketahui bahwa edible film dengan inkorporasi masing-masing 1% minyak atsiri mempunyai karakteristik yang masih mendekati edible film tanpa minyak atsiri dan juga disukai panelis. Oleh karena itu dengan hasil ini maka dapat dilakukan penelitian selanjutnya tentang aplikasi edible film ini sebagai pengemas aktif.   Kata Kunci: edible film, jahe merah, lengkuas merah, minyak atsiri.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Telah dilakukan penelitian pengaruh diagram roundhouse terhadap hasil belajar biologi kelas XI SMA Laboratorium UM. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada siswa SMA Laboratorium UM kelas XI IPA 1 dan 2. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi eksperirnen dengan menggunakan Nonrandomized Control Group Pretest-Posttest Design. Penetapan kelas eksperimen dengan kelas kontrol dilakukan secara acak. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah tes kemampuan kognitif dan respons siswa terhadap strategi pembelajaran diagram roundhouse. Data hasil penelitian dianalisis dengan analisis univariat (anakova) untuk membedakan kelornpok eksperimen dengan kelompok kontrol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh strategi pembelajaran terhadap kemampuan kognitif dengan ditunjukkan nilai F hitung sebesar 15,683 dan nilai signifikansi 0,000. Siswa juga memberikan respons positif terhadap pembelajaran dengan diagram roundhouse. Kata kunci: diagtam roundhouse, kemampuan kognitif.

Abstract

The environment is an object of unlimited biological studies. However, not every object is the scope of biological studies. To raise the potential of the surrounding environment to be an object of useful biological study needs a series of analysis process first. This study aims to analyze the potential of the surrounding environment that can be used as a biological learning resource. Based on the findings it is found that to raise the environment as a learning resource can be done through the steps: 1) analyzing the curriculum (KI, KD, and learning objectives); 2) ensuring the relevance of the chosen method with consideration; 3) ensuring the relevance of the chosen method with consideration of material characteristics to be taught; 4) determine the characteristics of student development with local geographic background; and 5) to ensure potential sources of learning from the environment by considering the relevance, adequacy, and consistency of the material with the applicable curriculum, the learning objectives to be achieved, and the achievement level of the learning materials.
