Abstract

Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 56/M/2022 concerning Guidelines for Implementing Curriculum in the Context of Learning Recovery states that in order to recover learning loss that occurs in particular conditions, educational units need to develop a curriculum with The principle of diversification by the conditions of the educational unit, regional potential, and students, one of which is by implementing an independent curriculum. One of the characteristics of the independent curriculum that differentiates it from the previous curriculum is the development stage of learning tools. LPTK managers, including FKIP UMS, responded to this policy quickly. FKIP UMS, through the integrated learning laboratory, has begun implementing obligations for Biology student teacher candidates to develop independent curriculum learning tools in the 2021/2022 academic year. This research aims to analyze the abilities of prospective Biology teacher students in developing independent curriculum learning tools for the T.A. 2023/2024 microteaching course. The subjects of this research were P.S. P. Biology students at FKIP UMS who were taking microteaching courses in the even semester of F.Y. 2023/2024. Research parameters include students' abilities in developing teaching modules, student worksheets, and assessment instruments. Data analysis was carried out descriptively and qualitatively using percentage techniques. Based on the results of data analysis, in general, the ability of Biology teacher candidates at FKIP UMS to develop independent curriculum learning tools in the T.A. 2023/2024 microteaching course is in a suitable category with an average percentage of 69.4%. Let us look at the scores for each aspect. The average achievement of the student ability aspect in developing independent curriculum teaching modules is in the excellent category (74.3%). In comparison, the student ability aspect in developing independent curriculum assessment instruments is quite good (64.5%).

Abstract

Sustainability literacy is an important urgency today, this is related to the knowledge and understanding of individuals in making decisions and taking further action on sustainability as an effort to prepare for life in the future. This study aims to analyze the level of initial sustainability literacy of high school students on environmental pollution material integrated with SDGs point 6 regarding the availability of clean water and sustainable sanitation. The research method used is quantitative descriptive with instruments in the form of sustainability literacy essay questions that refer to three main aspects of sustainability literacy, namely knowledge, skills, and mindset. The study was conducted at a high school in Garut Regency in May 2025 with a sample of 70 grade X students selected through purposive sampling techniques. The results showed that most students (60%) were in the very low category in sustainability literacy, especially in the knowledge aspect. This indicates the need for more transformative and contextual learning interventions to increase students' understanding and concern for sustainability issues. This study recommends the integration of the SDGs concept explicitly in the biology learning process in schools.

Abstract

Education is essentially an activity carried out by students producing changes in themselves. STEM-based learning(Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) can train students to apply their knowledge and improvescience process skills in learning using digital technology. Learning model recommended for use in the MerdekaCurriculum is a student-centred learning model, one of which is the Project Based Learning (PjBL). This study willanalyse the influence of STEM education integrated with a digital-based PjBL model on improving students' scienceprocess skills. This research uses the meta-analysis method. Research data were obtained from national andinternational journals. The meta-analysis study is based on indicators of science process skills. Based on secondarydata review, it shows that the integration of PjBL with digital-based STEM can be maximally implemented if theteacher is directly involved in learning, where the teacher acts as an inspirer, motivator, and facilitator. The learningstages of integrating PjBL with digital-based STEM starting from the design process to presenting the results canimprove students' science process skills. The integration of PjBL with digital-based STEM must be well prepared,starting from the use of learning strategies must be well designed and the dimensions of the assessment must becarefully selected so that the use of multidisciplinary learning is expected to be well realized in secondary education.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the initial effectiveness of an electronic module focused on Environmental Conservation material in improving students' Science Process Skills (SPS). This e-module was created using the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model and has been validated by experts. A medium-scale trial was conducted with a one-group pretest-posttest design involving 25 students from the upper grades. Data related to SPS were collected using pretest and posttest test instruments, then analyzed using the N-gain analysis method to measure the progress experienced in each SPS indicator. The results of the N-gain analysis showed that this e-module was significantly able to improve students' SPS skills. High increases (N-gain ≥ 0.7) were seen in the indicators "Observing" (0.7), "Concluding" (0.8), and "Communicating" (0.7). Meanwhile, the indicators "Using space/time relationships" (0.6), "Measuring" (0.5), "Classifying" (0.6), and "Predicting" (0.5) showed an increase in the medium category (0.3 < N-gain < 0.7) and tended to be high. These results indicate that electronic modules are very efficient in improving students' KPS, making them a viable learning resource and have the potential to be applied more widely.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk dapat dijadikan sebagai sumber informasi keanekaragaman jenis plankton di Danau Raja. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Danau Raja Kabupaten Indragiri Hulu pada bulan April 2019. Parameter yang diukur yaitu parameter biologi dan parameter fisika kimia perairan. Rancangan dalam penelitian ini yaitu tahap pengambilan data lapangan dilaksanakan dengan penelitian eksploratif, sedangkan pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode survei. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dalam 4 stasiun dengan dengan teknik purposive sampling. Metode pada penelitian ini terdiri dari 2 tahap, yaitu tahap analisis keanekaragaman plankton yang terdapat di Danau Raja dan pembuatan rancangan kamus visual pembelajaran Biologi SMA. Pada penelitian perancangan kamus visual menggunakan model Four-D yang terdiri atas empat tahap yaitu pendefinisian (define), perancangan (design), pengembangan (develope), dan penyebaran (dissemination). Data yang didapatkan dianalisis secara deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan komposisi fitoplankton di Danau Raja ditemukan 5 kelas, 20 jenis dan 188 individu. Kelimpahan fitoplankton tertinggi terdapat pada stasiun IV dan terendah terdapat pada stasiun I. Indeks keanekaragaman fitoplankton tertiggi terdapat pada stasiun IV dan terendah pada stasiun I. Kelimpahan zooplankton tertinggi di dapatkan pada satsiun III dan stasiun IV, sedangkan pada stasiun I dan stasiun II tidak dijumpai adanya zooplankton. Indeks keanekaragaman zooplankton tertinggi didapatkan pada stasiun III dan stasiun IV sedangkan pada stasiun I dan stasiun II tidak ditemukannya zooplankton.

Abstract

Literacy skills are basic skills that students must have, including children from the Aisyah Bekonang Orphanage (PAKEM). Children in orphanages must receive proper education at the secondary school level (SMP and SMA). According to the results of observations, children in orphanages do not have mobile phones (HP), there are not enough facilities to access the digital world. This community service aims to: (1) Provide an understanding to children in orphanages about literacy, (2) empower students' literacy skills based on media in the surrounding environment, (3) empower creative thinking skills based on literacy. The target of this activity is 25 children in orphanages consisting of junior high school (SMP) and high school (SMA) levels. The method implemented in this community service is the preparation stage which includes observation activities, determining the schedule and the preparation stage for the necessary tools and materials. The second stage is the implementation stage which includes delivering material on literacy and is continued with literacy activity training. The results of this activity are (1) increased understanding of literacy in orphanage children, (2) literacy skills in orphanage children begin to develop, (3) creative thinking skills in orphanage children develop as expected.

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has become a new educational space and an integral part of the rapid development of education and technology in today's modern era. However, the use of AI faces various problems and obstacles, including in biology education, which has been exposed to the effects of AI as a current learning mechanism. The purpose of this study is to explore and investigate teachers' and students' perspectives on the integration of AI in biology education and to understand its opportunities and challenges. This study adopts a qualitative method, conducting a survey administered to biology teachers and three classes under their supervision (n = 96 students) at one high school in Surakarta. The analysis instrument, in the form of a questionnaire designed with applied questions, was used as an evaluation framework to analyze teachers' and students' perspectives on the integration of AI in biology education. The research findings revealed that teachers and students share similar perspectives on the opportunities and challenges of utilizing AI in biology education. This finding identified opportunities such as effectiveness, time efficiency, and personalized learning as the main factors enabling the adoption of AI in biology education. The study also addressed various challenges faced, including ethical issues related to AI use, the decline in critical thinking skills due to overreliance on AI among students, and the limited AI literacy skills among teachers. The study emphasizes the importance of accommodative activities such as socialization and training in the use of artificial intelligence in biology education as a synergistic effort to foster a positive attitude in preparing teachers and students to adapt and innovate in the era of AI transformation.

Abstract

Essential part of red blood cells is hemoglobin, an iron-containing protein that transports oxygen and carbon dioxide throughout the body and serves as a pigment to give blood its red hue. Low hemoglobin levels and decreased iron storage may be contributing factors to anemia; nevertheless, vitamin C needs to be present in every food taken for the body to properly absorb iron. Consume fruits rich in vitamin C and other nutrients, such red guava (Psidium guajava L.), which is one of these fruits and offers advantages for people with anemia.Red guava (Psidium guajava L.) has 42.9 mg of vitamin C per 100 grams, or 0.429 mg/gram. The purpose of this paper is to promote awareness of the red guava's (Psidium guajava L.) ability to increase hemoglobin levels. Results from literature analyses of various scientific papers show that consumption of red guava juice increases hemoglobin levels in male white rats, pregnant women, and teenage females.

Abstract

The 21st century learning, including in SMK (vocational high schools), requires a STEAM-based (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) learning approach. The STEAM approach is selected because it integrates various interrelated disciplines to develop 21st-century competencies and fosters awareness of environmental issues in a sustainable context. This study aims to design a STEAM-based instructional model that incorporates sustainability aspects using the PJBL (Project-Based Learning) model on the topic of water pollution for Vocational High School students. The research method used is descriptive qualitative, with data collected through literature review and interviews. The result of this study is an instructional design using the PjBL model with sustainability-embedded STEAM-based syntax: (1) formulating essential questions integrated with the Science element, focusing on water pollution and its solutions; (2) designing a project directed toward the Technology element, specifically ecoprint as an environmentally friendly alternative (reflecting sustainability), applied to fashion product engineering (Engineering element), expressing aesthetic value through ecoprint products (Art element), and calculating raw material needs, capital efficiency, and production costs of ecoprint (Mathematics element); (3) scheduling project implementation over three weeks; (4) monitoring the process from design to product outcome; and (5) evaluating project results through an exhibition.
