Abstract

Food intake in children with the right nutritional composition in terms of quantity, type, and frequency will improve nutritional status and thus strengthen the body's immune system, so that the child will be able to ward off infection. If a child has already contracted an infection, recovery will be much more difficult. This community service activity aims to provide an understanding to the school and students about the importance of balanced nutrition for school-age children. The activity was carried out at SD Negeri 29 Banyuanyara, Takalar Regency, involving 11 students as participants. The method used was the lecture method. Before providing nutrition education, a pre-test was conducted regarding students' understanding of balanced nutrition. This was then continued with an explanation of balanced nutrition. After this activity, a post-test was distributed to assess the increase in students' knowledge. The results of the activity showed that out of 11 students, only 4 had sufficient knowledge about balanced nutrition. However, after being given counseling and health education, all students (100%) understood the basic concepts of balanced nutrition. This confirms that the counseling carried out successfully reached all participants as a whole. It would be advisable to conduct follow-up efforts regarding students' implementation of a balanced daily diet to gauge the effectiveness of this program.

Abstract

Reproductive health is an essential aspect of children’s growth, particularly during puberty. However, many elementary school students have limited knowledge about physical changes and the importance of maintaining reproductive hygiene. This community service activity aimed to improve the knowledge and awareness of students at SDN 139 Inpres Benteng Sanrobone regarding reproductive health through interactive education. The activity employed lectures, discussions, and question–answer sessions, supported by educational media such as the book “My First Puberty” and posters. The results indicated an increase in students’ understanding of puberty changes, personal hygiene, and healthy behaviors. Simple evaluation through oral questioning showed that more than half of the students answered correctly after the session. Teachers also gained insights on how to deliver reproductive health materials in an age-appropriate and engaging manner. The activity received positive responses from both students and teachers and is recommended to be implemented continuously in elementary schools.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase public awareness and concern for waste management and environmental cleanliness. The intervention was carried out through the installation of information boards containing information about the decomposition time of various types of waste and the installation of posters about the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness. This activity was carried out in six hamlets, Tonasa I, Tonasa II, Bontoa, Lebbae, Pa'rasangan Beru I, and Pa'rasangan Beru II. The community responded positively to these physical interventions. The information boards were considered to provide new knowledge, especially regarding the fact that plastic waste takes hundreds of years to decompose. The posters were also considered attractive and easy to understand, even serving as a learning tool for children. Overall, this activity received high appreciation from the community as it was deemed beneficial and increased awareness of the importance of maintaining environmental cleanliness.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat dengan tema “Literasi Energi dan Keselamatan Listrik Rumah Tangga di Desa Bontosunggu, Kecamatan Bontoharu, Kabupaten Kepulauan Selayar” dilaksanakan untuk meningkatkan pemahaman dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam menggunakan energi listrik secara aman, sehat, dan efisien. Permasalahan utama yang dihadapi mitra adalah rendahnya kesadaran hemat energi, penggunaan instalasi listrik yang tidak sesuai standar, serta masih tingginya risiko kebakaran akibat korsleting listrik. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan mencakup sosialisasi literasi energi, pelatihan keselamatan listrik rumah tangga, pendampingan teknis instalasi listrik, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan masyarakat tentang manajemen beban listrik dan strategi hemat energi, dengan lebih dari 70% peserta mampu menjelaskan kembali materi yang diberikan. Selain itu, ±65% peserta berhasil mempraktikkan pemeriksaan instalasi sederhana sesuai standar. Forum komunikasi berbasis media sosial juga terbentuk sebagai sarana keberlanjutan program. Kegiatan ini memberikan dampak positif berupa peningkatan literasi energi, kesadaran keselamatan listrik, serta terbentuknya kader lokal sebagai agen perubahan. Dengan demikian, program ini relevan untuk mendukung pencegahan kebakaran akibat korsleting serta membangun masyarakat desa yang lebih mandiri, sehat, dan berdaya saing.

Abstract

This Community Service activity aims to provide insight, motivation, and skills to the community in exploring and developing creative ideas as the first step in building independent businesses. Through counseling, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice, participants are encouraged to identify their potential in terms of skills, local resources, and market opportunities. This program is expected to encourage the community, especially housewives, to utilize business opportunities as a source of additional income, thereby achieving family financial independence. The results of the activity showed increase in participants' understanding and confidence in starting their entrepreneurial journey.

Abstract

This Community Service Activity aims to provide understanding to the community, especially MSME business actors, about the importance of conducting Market Research, namely by conducting Customer Satisfaction surveys in an effort to develop their business. This activity is carried out by carrying out initial observation methods and providing outreach to raise awareness of business owners/managers about the benefits and utilization of marketing research as well as conducting pretests and posttests as evaluation material to see the increase in knowledge of business owners before and after the outreach.

Abstract

This Community Service (PKM) activity aims to empower housewives in Bangkala Village, Manggala District, Makassar City through home entrepreneurship training. This training focused on improving knowledge, skills, and motivation in building home businesses with small capital but maximum results. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of the concepts of entrepreneurship, business management, and digital marketing. Participants generated various business ideas such as cookies, trendy drinks, and handicrafts. This activity succeeded in fostering an entrepreneurial spirit and encouraging the birth of new entrepreneurs at the household level. The main conclusion from this material is that small capital home businesses have great potential to grow if supported by creativity, good management, the right marketing strategy, and a willingness to start from small steps. The motivational message conveyed is 'Great success always begins with small steps

Abstract

Waste management in rural areas remains a critical challenge, particularly due to open burning practices that cause air pollution and health risks. Sanrobone Village in Takalar Regency faces problems of household waste accumulation without an adequate waste management system. This community service project aims to introduce a simple low-smoke waste incinerator and segregated waste bins as practical, affordable, and environmentally friendly solutions. The activities included field surveys, socialization, community training, construction of low-smoke incinerators, and installation of color-coded waste bins at strategic points. The results indicate improved community awareness in waste sorting and correct incinerator use, reducing smoke emissions by approximately 70%. The program also formed a village waste management group as an initial step toward sustainable waste handling. This pilot initiative is expected to serve as a replicable model for other villages to promote clean and healthy community environments.

Abstract

An emergency is an urgent situation that poses a risk to health, life, well-being, or the environment. An incident can become an emergency if it threatens life, health, well-being, or the environment. This emergency situation requires the assistance of others who are ideally qualified to provide assistance. This requires the involvement of various parties, including first aid providers, technicians, and emergency health services. Emergency situations require immediate action. Sudden, unforeseen events are generally dangerous. Objective: To provide an understanding of Basic Life Support (BLS) to the community of Lane Village. Method: Lecture and Simulation Outcome: The community of Lane Village understands the concept of emergencies, first aid, and the steps in performing BLS.

Abstract

Smoking is one of the risk behaviors that can reduce individual health quality, particularly among children and adolescents. This community service activity aims to improve students’ knowledge and attitudes through education about the dangers of smoking, enabling them to avoid smoking behavior as an effort to maintain health and prevent smoking-related diseases. The community service was conducted at Sekolah Dasar Negeri 36 Tonasa Parappa, Laguruda Village, Sanrobone Subdistrict, Takalar Regency. Educational activities on the dangers of smoking were provided to students to deliver accurate information regarding the definition of cigarettes, types of cigarettes, categories of active and passive smokers, harmful substances contained in a cigarette, the health risks and impacts of smoking, the dangers of passive smoking, smoke-free areas, and strategies to quit smoking. The educational media used combined PowerPoint slides and a projector to present the material visually and engagingly. A discussion and question–answer session followed to encourage active participation from the students. This activity is expected to foster good knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors from an early age to prevent the emergence of new smokers, promote health, and reduce smoking-related diseases.
