Abstract

Critical patients are patients who experience critical pain due to physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual changes. Patients who suffer from critical illness will experience hospitalization that requires the role of the family as a family support system. The role of the family in dealing with critical patients can have physical impacts, such as fatigue, sleep disturbances, and health problems. Psychological impacts such as anxiety, fear, sadness and depression and social impacts in the form of reduced communication and social isolation. The purpose of this study is to find out the patient's family experience while accompanying the patient in the ICU room of the Imelda  Pekerja Indonesia General Hospital. This study uses a qualitative type of research with a phenomenological approach. The sample in this study consisted of 6 participants with nuclear family inclusion criteria, over 18 years old who had waited for more than 3 days in the ICU Room. Data collection techniques with in-depth interviews. The results of this study obtained 4 themes that describe this family experience, namely fear of not being able to see patients again, pity to see patients with many tools, abandoning the routine of seeing patients, and relying on God. Further research suggestions should provide interventions related to the impact that arises when families face critical patients.

Abstract

Chemical laboratory waste often contains hazardous chemicals that can pose risks to the environment and human health if not properly managed. This study evaluates the residual chemical concentrations in solid laboratory waste from pharmaceutical chemistry labs using conventional acid-base titration methods. The objective is to determine the exposure levels of acidic and basic chemicals in solid waste and assess the accuracy and precision of the analytical methods. Samples tested included filter paper, wiping cloths, and absorbent cloths, with results showing acidic chemical concentrations up to 0.998 M and basic chemical concentrations up to 0.344 M. The titration method demonstrated high accuracy with recovery percentages of 99.00% for acid addition and 99.50% for base addition, and excellent precision with RSD percentages of 0.02% and 0.04%, respectively. The study recommends separating waste based on chemical type, using appropriate absorbent materials, providing regular training for laboratory personnel, and integrating modern technology into waste management practices. These findings offer critical insights to improve laboratory waste management practices, aiming to minimize environmental impacts and health risks.

Abstract

Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH) is a rare neoplasm of myeloid origin, characterized by the proliferation of Langerhans cells expressing CD1a and CD207. While primarily affecting children, LCH can also occur in adults, though the incidence is extremely low. The disease manifests in various clinical forms, often complicating diagnosis and management. This study aims to describe the clinicopathological aspects of LCH cases treated at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) Bandung over a ten-year period, from 2010 to 2020. Clinicopathological data of patients diagnosed with LCH at the Anatomical Pathology Department of Hasan Sadikin Hospital from 2010 to 2020 were retrospectively reviewed. Data collected included patient age, gender, anatomical location of the disease, and sampling methods used for diagnosis. Diagnosis of LCH was confirmed through morphological assessment of histopathologic specimens and fine needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) smears. LCH remains a rare entity characterized by the abnormal proliferation of Langerhans cells, predominantly affecting children and most frequently involving the head region. Typical cytologic and histopathologic features are usually present, aiding in the diagnosis. However, variability in presentation underscores the importance of integrating clinical, radiologic, and immunohistochemical data for accurate diagnosis. Further research is warranted to explore long-term outcomes and optimal management strategies, particularly in regions with limited case data.

Abstract

Lung cancer is one of the deadliest cancers, with 2.21 million cases and 1.80 million deaths globally in 2020. In Indonesia, lung cancer is the third most common cancer with 34,783 cases in 2018. The five-year survival rate is very low, especially in advanced stages. Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is becoming increasingly popular among cancer patients as an adjunct to conventional therapy. This study aims to systematically review the impact of complementary and alternative therapies on lung cancer patients, evaluating the additional benefits of CAM in the treatment of lung cancer patients. This study employs a systematic review method, gathering data from scientific journals, clinical reports, and related publications, including PubMed, Science Direct, and SageJournal. The inclusion criteria were original research articles published in English between 2014 and 2024. Based on the search results, only 5 articles met the analysis criteria. The study shows that Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM), Laughter Yoga, and Press Needling can improve the quality of life for lung cancer patients. CHM increases progression-free survival (PFS) and reduces chemotherapy side effects. Laughter Yoga reduces stress and enhances mental health. Press Needling decreases postoperative pain and pulmonary complications. Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) improves progression-free survival and overall survival (OS) for lung cancer patients, reduces chemotherapy side effects, and enhances quality of life without causing significant additional toxicity. CHM is widely accessible with insurance coverage, but interactions with modern medicine must be monitored.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to determine the difference in the effects of providing trampoline exercise with wooble board exercise on increasing dynamic stabilization. The sample consisted of 20 students at Esa Unggul University and were selected based on random sampling techniques using the available questionnaires. The samples were grouped into two treatment groups, treatment group I consisted of 10 people with trampoline exercise and treatment group II consisted of 10 people who were given wooble board exercise. This research method is a type of quasi-experimental pre-post test design research. Statistical analysis of this research uses the Related T-Test and the Independent T-Test. The results of the homogeneity test for the treatment group before training were with a p value = 0.008. The results of the T-Test Related test in treatment group I have a value of p = 0.001 and in treatment group II the value of p = 0.001 means that the training given to each group has an effect on increasing dynamic stabilization. And the Independent T-Test test results show a p value = 0.001, which means there is a very significant influence between treatment group I and treatment group II.  It can be concluded that there is a very significant difference in effect between trampoline exercise and wooble board exercise on increasing dynamic stabilization. In this study, it is recommended that the training method can be applied with the correct procedures, carried out within more than 1 month because with increasing dynamic stabilization the results will be better if carried out within 2-3 months, and it is hoped that things that can influence the results research can be minimized in order to achieve optimal results.
