Abstract

The research was conducted in June 2013 in Rupat Starait waters with the aim to deter-mine the constituent materials in the sediment. The Eckman Grab was used to take samples and than the sediment was analyzed to determine the composition and content of organic mat-ter. The results showed that the composition of the sediment composed of lithogenous and biogenous. Lithogenous composition especially in waters and rocks dominating presence even-ly at each station. The highest composition found in a location close to the mainland and one of the areas that get the first time the influence of the tide, from the Strait of Malacca and the flow from Strait of Bengkalis. Lithogenous lowest percentage was found in areas close to the mangrove area whre the station had high composition of litter biogenous. While the station containing the lowest organic matter was the station near the strait of Malacca. Mean while the station closed masjid river and Dumai river containing organic matter was high due to the flow of the river carrying a high content of organic materials.

Abstract

Many of marine ecotourism activities on Nirwana Beach has had a negative impact to the development of seagrass ecosystems. Pressure that occurs on the coastal ecosystem becomes a trigger factor seagrasses to adapt with produce certain compounds for maintain immunity, the name is bioactive compounds. This research was aimed to know toxicity to Artemia salina and phytochemical component of Thalassia hemprichii seagrass from Nirwana Beach by using experimental method. Two seagrass extracts with different solvents have been made in the Marine Chemistry Laboratories for use in toxicity and phytochemical tests. The results of the test are displayed in tabular or graphical form and analyzed descriptively. The results of toxicity testing showed that seagrass had a toxicity level of 446.872 ppm (n-hexane solvent) and 218.183 ppm (methanol solvents), both of extract are toxic to the Artemia salina. Phytochemical testing shows tannin compounds founded in extracts with n-hexane and methanol solvent, alkaloids and triterpenoids compound contained in extracts with methanol solvent.

Abstract

This research aim to determine the optimal dose of additional probiotic in feed toward the growth performance and survival rate of tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) by using biofloc system. This research was conducted on March 30-May 9, 2018 at Technical Service Unit (UPT) of Hatchery, Marine and Fisheries Faculty, University of Riau. This research was using experimental method by completely random design (RAL) one factor with three replications. The treatments were: A: 0 g/kg of feed (control), B: 0,5 g/kg of feed, C: 1 g/kg of feed, and D: 2 g/kg of feed. The probiotic (Bacillus sp) The results showed that a different doses of additional probiotic affecting the growth performance and the survival rate of tambaqui using biofloc system. In addition, it also affected the absolute weight growth, absolute length growth, feed efficiency and feed conversion ratio. The optimal dose was at 2 g/kg of feed as it showed significantly different results compared to control and was not differ significantly at higher doses. So that while being applied in terms of economy, 2 g/kg was the most efficient dose, by giving the absolute weight growth was 37,62 g, absolute length was 6,91 cm, specific growth rate was 7,00%, feed efficiency was 104,16%, feed conversion ratio was 0,96 and survival rate was 100%.

Abstract

Abstract

Base on the survei and field visiting at the location of dockyard industry, thestate of traditional dockyard management and technology reported. Traditionaldockyards use wood as raw materials for building mostly small fishing boat of less than5 GT. The location of dockyard is built open on the bank of riverside in the coastal areawithout any covered building. Facilities in the traditional dockyard as well asinfrastructure ro the location are almost nothing deliberately built. The dockyardpersists on the wetland environment, swampy area, and unhealthy working condition. The management of the dockyard is family wise as it belongs to the one core family, butthe boat craft man mostly recruite from extended family. While the technology usedmostly come from the long experiences working in the famili or other dockyard. Themain problem of the traditional dockyard is the raw wood materials are scarce anddifficult to get it, except by high price, whilst capital to secure materials stockunavailable. The consequence, five of seven traditional dockyard surveied have beenstopping to product a new boat; and frustrating to pace the future. The probableeffective idea of way out to the situation is to use alternative wooden materialsubstitution such as FRP.
