Abstract

Prayang is  traditional fishing gear, a prohibition on the use of cantrang fishing gear by the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) requires an alternative replacement fishing gear, considering that the condition of the Java sea waters is already overfished. The study aims to determine the effect of using different color lights on prayang fishing gear on catches. The research method is an experiment by applying "light fishing" technology. The initial stage of the study was the use of lighting aids with different colors. Based on the results of statistical tests the lamp color treatment had no significant effect, the catch was dominated by white shrimp species for the use of white light and the shrimp continued to prefer green.

Abstract

SSC (Sediment Suspended Concentration) is the concentration of suspended sediment. This research was conducted in June 2018 in the Muara Sungai Padang area, Bandar Khalifah District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra Province. This research aims to describe the distribution of vertical and horizontal SSC suspended sediments and the factors that influence them in Padang river estuary  area, Bandar Khalifah District, North Sumatra Province. The method used in this research is the survey method and determining the location of sampling by purposive sampling. Measurement of water quality parameters is carried out in situ, namely temperature, salinity, pH, depth, current speed, and brightness. The results of the study of the distribution of suspended sediments in the waters of the Padang river can be concluded that the pattern of the distribution of suspended sediments when the tide moves towards the upper reaches of the river while at low tide moves towards the sea, namely the waters of the Malacca Strait which is influenced by currents. the largest suspended sediment concentration at tide to low tide is at the sampling point 1 which is 179 mg / l and recedes to pairs at sampling point 1 which is 121 mg / l.

Abstract

The higher activity of the community in coastal waters, together with the higher the lev-el of pollution from domestic sewage and industrial waste, impacts on the quality of marine waters. Domestic waste pollution (mainly the result of human excretion), can increase the number of microorganisms. fecal Streptococci bacteria can be used as an indicator of - marine pollution. Toxin content of fecal Streptococci bacteria, if it is in the human digestive tract, can cause diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain. The study aims to analyze the distribution of fecal Streptococci bacteria in coastal waters of the Strait of Rupat. The research was conducted from March-April 2012 in P. Mentele, P. Rampang, P. Payung, P. Baru and P. Mampu, using the survey method. Fecal Streptococci bacteria was analyzed at the Laboratory of Marine Microbi-ology Faperika, Riau University. Total test of fecal Streptococci bacteria on KF Streptococci medium and identification of isolates was determined by biochemical tests (Cappuccino & Sherman, 2001). The analysis showed that total of - fecal Streptococci bacteria 1.5 x 102 to 5.2 x 105 cells/gram sample, colonies of bacteria growing red. Total of fecal Streptococci bacteria is highest in P. Mentele, while the lowest in P. Baru. The results of water quality in the Strait of Rupat was still below those of the standard threshold. Overall, the content of Fecal Strepto-cocci bacteria is low, not categorized as polluted waters

Abstract

In order to increase the fishing production, several efforts have been conductedand one of them is using the chemically attracted bait. To understand theeffectiveness of bait odor in attracting the fish, a study on the response ofPangusius sutchi and (lands hatracus Linn toward various bait odors has beenconducted in Pekanbaru, from 12 to 19 July 2005. This study aims to understandthe ability of fishes in detecting the odors. Three treatments were applied. The fishwere feed on chicken intestine with 3 decayed levels, namely fresh intestine, intestine that was kept for I day period and intestine that was kept for 2 daysperiod. Position/distance between the fish and the bait were noted. Result shownthat fresh chicken (U1) intestine was the most preferred by cat fish (P. sulchi),while intestine that was kept for I day period (U2) was the most preferred by catfish (C. hatracus). Chicken intestine that was kept for 2 days period (U3),however, was not preferred by both type of fishes. Based on the data obtained, itcan be concluded that cat fish (P. suichi), and cat fish (C. Indiums) are able todetect bait with different odors.

Abstract

Sangkuriang catfish (Clarias gariepinus) is a cultivated species favored by Indonesian and has great potential for development. However, the obstacle to the success of catfish cultivation is a disease. One alternative to overcome this problem is by giving immunostimulants from natural ingredients. The purpose of this study was to test the effectiveness of feeding with moringa leaf powder on non-specific immunity and growth performance of sangkuriang catfish. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments (100% commercial feed, commercial feed with 1.5% Moringa leaf supplementation, commercial feed with 3% Moringa leaf supplementation, and commercial feed with Moringa leaf supplementation 4.5%, and 3 replications. The results showed that the commercial feed with 4.5% moringa leaf supplementation gave the best results for total erythrocytes of 5.97x104 cells/mm3 and MCV of 92.10 fl, and increased the absolute weight growth of 46.42 g. However, it did not show a significant effect on total erythrocytes, hemoglobin, hematocrit, MCHC, MCH, MCV, total leukocytes, leukocyte differentials, phagocytic activity, phagocytosis index, absolute weight growth survival rate, and the value of the feed convention ratio (FCR).
