Abstract

The writer analyses the words contain by homonymy used in Tanjung Belit dialect using a semantic study. The purpose of this research is to find out the kinds and explain the meaning of homonymy used in Tanjung Belit dialect.         This analysis uses a descriptive qualitative research as a method and it has three procedures; they are collecting the data, analysing the data and data presentation. In collecting the data, the writer uses the participant observational method. In technique of collecting the data, the writer uses interview and note taking technique. In analysing of the data, the writer uses Sudaryanto's theory that is distributional and translational technique. The last procedure is data presentation, where the data is presented by using the informal method by Sudaryanto.            The result of this analysis is that the writer found fifteen data included in homonymy in the Tanjung Belit dialect. In the fifteen datum that have been analyzed the writer is dominated by complete homonymy

Abstract

This research analyzes the impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit through WhatsApp text messages and how the strategies function in delivering the impoliteness between the customers and the employees of Home Credit. The purposes of this research are (1) to identify the types of impoliteness strategies used by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit; (2) to analyze the functions of impoliteness strategies aimed by customers of Muara Bungo Home Credit.. The research also applied descriptive qualitative method, with the customers’ WhatsApp text messages as the source of the data.The result of this research shows that, (1) there are 19 data of impoliteness strategies found in the WhatsApp text messages from customers’ of Muara Bungo Home Credit, which are sarcasm/mock politeness (4 data), positive impoliteness (3 data), negative impoliteness (6 data) and bald on record impoliteness (6 data) which occurred the most in the research; (2) all 19 data of impoliteness strategies used by the customers had different functions, which are affective (7 data), entertaining (4 data) and coercive (8 data), which is the most applied function in the research.

Abstract

Penelitian Neuro-linguistik ini mengkaji tentang salah satu gangguan berbahasa dan berbicara. Salah satunya adalah gangguan psikogenik. Tujuan penelitian ini mendeskripsikan dan menjelaskan tentang bentuk gangguan berbicara latah pada tataran leksikon. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui tiga tahap, yaitu pengumpulan data, penganalisisan data, dan penyajian hasil analisis data. Pengumpulan data, menggunakan metode cakap dan metode simak. Teknik dasar dalam pengumpulan data adalah teknik pancing, diikuti dengan teknik lanjutan, yaitu teknik rekam dan teknik catat. Sementara itu, metode simak menggunakan teknik dasar simak libat cakap (SLC) yang diikuti dengan teknik lanjutan, yaitu teknik catat. Pada tahap analisis data, metode yang digunakan adalah metode padan dan metode agih beserta teknik – tekniknya. Metode padan yang digunakan adalah metode padan translasional dan padan referensial dengan teknik pilah unsur penentu. Metode agih yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah teknik bagi unsur langsung dengan diikuti teknik lanjutan, yaitu teknik sisip dan teknik perluasan. Penyajian hasil analisis data digunakan metode formal dan informal. Hasil penelitian ini  menunjukkan bahwa perilaku latah dapat menyebabkan gangguan komunikasi dua arah pada tataran leksikon. Leksikon yang diucapkan oleh yulena pada saat perilaku latah muncul bukanlah leksikon yang seharusnya diucapkan dalam suatu topic sebuah peristiwa tutur. Pengulangan leksikon yang didengar dari lawan tutur, pengucapan leksikon tabu dan pengucapan leksikon secara spontan yang tersimpan di mental leksikon.

Abstract

In this research the writer analyzed the figurative language in Raef Haggag songslyric on the Mercy album that consist to four song there are Trust, Mercy, All About Me,and More Than Me And You. The purpose of the research to find the kind of figurativelanguage and messages in Raef Haggag’s songs. The method of the research uses qualitative method. To analyzing the data the writer use library research. The first step the writer read the Raef Haggag Song’s lyrics several times and understanding the text lyric. The second find out the important data and selected the data that can analysis. The last step write down or making a note about the data. The result of this research thewriter found six kinds of figurative language thereare: Hyperbole, Metaphor, Symbol, Personification, Paradox, and Simile. The datum thatthe writer found from four song lyrics are twenty. In this research the writer also found the messages in the songs lyric by Raef Haggag like struggle, never give up, patients andthankfully.

Abstract

This research analyzes about Syntactic Acquisition of three years old child at Al-Inayah Islamic Boarding School, in Jambi Province, Tebo Regency, Rimbo Bujang sub district, at Perintis village. The purposes of this research are (1) to describe types of sentences produced by a three years old child named Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi (2) to find out factors that affected child in obtaining his first language acquisition on three years old named child Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi at Al-Inayah Islamic Boarding School in perintis village, Rimbo Bujang Sub-district, Tebo Regency, Jambi province.In this research, the writer applied descriptive qualitative method theory by Moleong (2006:6) and the writer uses Participant Observational Method (SLC) to collecting the data. The data were analyzed by using referential method and distributional method, the writer also uses an informal and formal method to represent the results of the analysis.The result of the research reveals some findings showed that the child produced four types of sentences, they are: (1) Statement, (2) Imperative Sentences, (3) Interrogative Sentences, (4) Exclamation Sentences. Based on the 15 data found in this research, the writer found 9 data of interrogative sentences, 1 data of imperative sentence, 2 data of statements, and 3 data of exclamation sentences. The most dominant type of Sentence produced on three years old child by Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi at Al-Inayah Islamic Boarding School especially in Perintis village, Rimbo Bujang Sub-district, Tebo Regency, Jambi Province is Interrogative sentences, the types of sentence is supported by Eastwood's theory (1994:15).Based on this research, the writer found out the factor that affected child in obtaining the first language acquisition on three years old child named Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi. The results of this research also show that the factor affected the first language acquisition of this child's language is Language Acquisition Devices that have innate abilities from birth which are then honed in the form of always being invited to communicate with parents, imitating other people, the mother always provides stimulation in the form of words, phrases or sentences. Based on this research, the writer formulates the factor that affected in obtaining the first language acquisition on three years old child from Ahmad Dzaky Al-Farisi is natural factor supported by Chomsky's theory (1965:222).

Abstract

This research analyzes turn-taking strategies used in Brownis talk show. The objectives of this research are (1) to identify the kinds of turn-taking strategies used by the hosts and the guest in Brownis talk show and (2) to analyze the functions of turn-taking strategies used by the hosts and the guest in Brownis talk show. The analysis is based on the theory by Sacks and Schegloff (1979) on Turn-Taking. The research applied descriptive qualitative method, which uses words to explain the data obtained from the talk show. Tables and figures are also used to present the results and to make it easier for readers to understand.

Abstract

Peter Carey, a celebrated Australian author and two-time Booker Prize winner, is renowned for his global perspective in his literary works. This paper investigates Carey's engagement with American culture and values, employing formal narrative analysis to examine his global mindset as reflected in his fiction. A review of several of his novels suggests that his incorporation of global themes sometimes overshadows his Australian identity. Specifically, the analysis reveals a distinct American influence in Carey's works, evident in the use of black humor, metafiction, and fabulation. This study contributes to a deeper understanding of Carey's literary identity and the complex interplay between national and global influences in his writing.

Abstract

This study analyzes the types and the change of meaning of borrowing words found in CNN Indonesia instagram caption. the objectives of this research are (1) to classify the types of borrowing words in CNN Indonesia instagram caption, and (2) to explain the changes of meaning of borrowing words in CNN Indonesia instagram caption.            The writer used descriptive qualitative method because the research focuses on describing the types and the change of meaning of borrowing words in CNN Indonesia instagram caption. In collecting data, the writer used non-participant observation technique and then the writer used distributional method in analyzing the data. in order to make easier the readers, the writer explains the types and the of meaning  with tables and abbreviation code. the data were words that contain of borrowing words. After the data were collected, the data were classified and explained Based on Hocket’s theory (1958), that proposed some types of borrowing word. and also Baugh’s theory (1993), that explained the change of meaning of borrowing word.            The result of the study reveals some findings: The writer found 30 borrowing words in the caption, 24 words are loanblend types, and 6 words are contained in loanword type. From 30 borrowing words, 11 words have change the meaning, 3 word are extention in the type of change of meaning, 8 words contained narrowing type, and 19 words no change the meaning. Therefore, the writer concluded that the dominant types of borrowing in CNN Indonesia instagram caption is loanblend, then the dominant types of change of meaning in CNN Indonesia Instagram caption is narrowing. but, in the caption more dominant borrowing words no change the meaning.

Abstract

Kajian artikel ini membahas prinsip kerjasama yang tercermin dalam novel "Teluk Alaska" karya Eka Aryani. Dalam novel ini, Eka Aryani menggambarkan dinamika hubungan antar karakter yang dipenuhi dengan berbagai situasi dan konflik, di mana prinsip kerjasama memainkan peran penting dalam mengatasi tantangan tersebut. Dalam analisis ini, memiliki tujuan untuk mengetahui prinsip kerjasama yang tercermin melalui interaksi antar karakter, penggunaan bahasa, dan pengembangan alur cerita. Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa prinsip kerjasama tercermin dalam kualitas komunikasi antar karakter dalam novel. Karakter-karakter dalam cerita cenderung berkomunikasi dengan jelas dan efektif, tanpa memberikan informasi yang tidak relevan atau menyimpang dari topik yang sedang dibahas. Temuan hasil pembahasan menyoroti sejauh mana prinsip-prinsip komunikasi yang mendasari kerjasama tercermin dalam novel "Teluk Alaska" karya Eka Aryani. Prinsip-prinsip ini meliputi maksim kualitas, maksim kuantitas, maksim relevansi, dan maksim pelaksanaan, yang masing-masing memberikan kontribusi penting dalam membentuk dinamika hubungan antar karakter dalam cerita. Hal ini memastikan bahwa komunikasi mereka tidak menyimpang dari topik yang sedang dibahas. Temuan ini juga menyoroti pentingnya prinsip pelaksanaan komunikasi yang efektif dalam menjalankan kerjasama antar karakter. Karakter-karakter dalam novel "Teluk Alaska" menunjukkan kemampuan untuk menjalankan komunikasi dengan jelas, langsung, dan dengan tujuan yang jelas. Secara keseluruhan, temuan hasil pembahasan menegaskan bahwa prinsip-prinsip komunikasi yang terkandung dalam maksim kualitas, maksim kuantitas, maksim relevansi, dan maksim pelaksanaan memainkan peran penting dalam membentuk dinamika hubungan sosial antar karakter dalam novel "Teluk Alaska". Ini menggambarkan bagaimana nilai-nilai sosial seperti kerjasama tercermin dalam interaksi antar karakter dalam konteks sastra, serta pentingnya prinsip-prinsip komunikasi yang efektif dalam membangun hubungan yang sehat dan produktif. Dengan demikian, prinsip-prinsip komunikasi yang terkandung dalam maksim kualitas, maksim kuantitas, maksim relevansi, dan maksim pelaksanaan tercermin dalam representasi prinsip kerjasama dalam novel "Teluk Alaska" karya Eka Aryani.

Abstract

This research analyzes the types of language styles used in Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, starring The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) in 2020 and how each language style serves their own specific language function. The purposes of this research are (1) to find out the language styles used on Oprah Winfrey's talk show; (2) to find out the functions of the speaker’s dialogues in using language style. The analysis is conducted based on the theory by Joos (1967) on language styles and Jakobson (2011) on functions of language styles. The research applied descriptive qualitative method and the data were obtained from the Oprah Winfrey’s talk show on YouTube. Tables are also used to present the data analysis in this research.The findings of this research shows that: First, out of 21 data obtained from the talk show, there are only 3 language styles used in Oprah Winfrey’s talk show, which are formal style (2 data), consultative style (5 data), and casual style (14 data) which was applied the most throughout the talk show; Second, the 21 data of language styles used in the talk show represent their own specific functions, which are referential function (3 data), directive function (2 data), expressive function (8 data), social function (5 data), and poetic function (3 data), with expressive function as the most common function in the talk show
