Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia. Prolonged hyperglycemia can damage various organs of the body including the liver. Moringa oleifera leaves extract contain flavonoids which can decrease blood glucose levels and act as a hepatoprotector. To evaluate its hepatoprotective activity, liver function marker Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) and serum glutamic pyruvate transminase (SGPT ) was used. In this study, we aimed to determine the effect of Moringa oleifera leaves extract on the liver function test of male Sprague dawley rats that have DM due to streptozotocin induction. Methods: This was experimental study conducted from February 2019 to July 2019 at Faculty of Medicine Laboratory, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. This study conducted in 25 male Sprague dawley rats divided into 5 groups, those were negative controls group, positive controls group, and 3 treatment groups which given oral Moringa oleifera leaves extract at doses of 200 mg/kgBW, 400 mg/kgBW, and 600 mg/kgBW, respectively, for 14 days. Samples were collected on day 26th to measure SGOT and SGPT. Blood glucose levels were assayed on day 6th and 26th.Results: There was no significant decrease in SGOT (p=0.069) and SGPT (p=0.345)  levels in the administration of Moringa oleifera leaves extract to male Sprague dawley rats with DM  induced by streptozotocin at a dose of 200 mg/KgBW and  400 mg/KgBW.Conclusions: Moringa oleifera leaves extract did not significantly decrease SGOT and SGPT.

Abstract

Background: The onset of the first menstrual period, also known as menarche, indicates the maturity of female reproductive system. Many factors influence menarcheal age. The purpose of this paper was to investigate the association between body fat mass and menarcheal age based on research articles that have been published, focusing on girls in Indonesia. Methods: The articles were encountered using Google Scholar, PubMed, and the Ministry of Education and Culture's Digital Reference. The inclusion criteria were articles published between 2017 and 2022, written in Indonesian or English, original research, conducted in Indonesia. Results: Five literature that met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were found. Four studies found a relationship between body fat mass and age at menarche. One study, however, showed the opposite conclusion. Conclusion: An increase in body fat mass can be a factor in the acceleration of menarcheal age. Girls must have a healthy body composition from an early age.

This report would like to discuss a case of successful pregnancy outcome at term delivery in patient with bicornuate uterus in district area of Indonesia Soe, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia.Case Report: A 30-year-old first gravida with 39 weeks of gestation coming for elective cesarean section due to primipara in breech pregnancy. There was baby girl born in 2,500 grams of birthweight. During exploration of uterus, both tubes and ovaries, there was found bicornuate uterus with a single common cervix. We found both kidneys in normal size, bicornuate uterus with thickening of endometrial line in left side and normal endometrial line in right side. We measured that the septum was 38 mm. Both mother and baby were healthy at discharge.Result: Bicornuate uterus is usually asymptomatic and diagnosed due to obstetrical complication or accidentally. Uterine abnormalities are increased risk of first and second-trimester loss of pregnancy, preterm delivery <28 weeks, low birth weight babies, and malpresentation at delivery. Imaging plays an essential role in diagnosis and management of bicornuate uterus. It is fundamental to educate a woman with this anomaly. Abstract

Background: Bipolar affective disorder is a mental disorder that is influenced by many factors, namely neurobiological factors and psychosocial factors. Due to these various factors, the outcome of bipolar affective disorder is different for each patient.Case report: One of the psychosocial factors that influence bipolar affective disorder is the presence of trauma in childhood and neglect. Trauma in childhood can be a precipitating factor in genetically predisposed individuals, triggering episodes of bipolar affective disorder as well as borderline personality disorder, also influencing the severity of symptoms and onset when the disorder first appearsResults:. The severity of bipolar symptoms is also greater in patients with a history of childhood trauma and neglect. This severity includes frequent suicidal ideation and the appearance of psychotic symptoms. Therefore, childhood trauma and neglect may be predictors of poor outcome in patients with bipolar affective disorder and the development of borderline personality disorder.

Abstract

Background: Low Back Pain (LBP) is one of the most common painful condition that leading to disability and become a major public health problem. Non-specific low back pain   accounts for almost 90% of all cases. This study aims to determine the effects of land-based exercise using Documentation Based Care (DBC) Active Spine® and Hydrotherapy interventions on pain and disability due to Non-specific Low Back Pain (NLBP).Methods: A Quasi-experimental study on 24 samples obtained using a purposive sampling technique by considering the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The first and second groups consisted of 12 samples each receiving the hydrotherapy and DBC Active Spine® intervention. Measurement of pain and disability using the VAS and MODI instruments was carried out in the first intervention and the sixth intervention. The paired sample t-test was used to see the effect of each DBC Active Spine® and Hydrotherapy intervention on pain and disability. Independent sample t-test was used to see if there was a significant difference between the two interventions in reducing pain and disability. Results: The normality and homogeneity tests showed that the data obtained were normally distributed and had a homogeneous variance. DBC Active Spine® showed significant results on VAS and MODI which p-value=0.001 (the mean changes in VAS and MODI were 2.58 ± 0.90 and 13.33 ± 11.82, respectively). Hydrotherapy intervention showed statistically significant in VAS and MODI with p-values of 0.002 and 0.001 respectively (the mean changes in VAS and MODI were 2.33 ± 0.98 and 27.83 ± 9.00). Independent Sample T-Test showed insignificant results. The mean difference in VAS was 0.25 ± 0.38 (p-value 0.752), while the mean difference in MODI was 14.5 ± 4.3 ( p-value 0.277). Conclusion: DBC Active Spine® and Hydrotherapy interventions have a significant effect on reducing pain and disability in NLBP patients. There was no statistically significant difference between the two interventions.
