Abstract

The purpose of this study was to find a correlation between density and water quality with glucose and cortisol levels in Cantang grouper (Epinephelus fuscoguttatus x Epinephelus lanceolatus) reared in ponds as an indicator of stress. This study uses a time series sampling method in its implementation. There were 10 Cantang grouper samples taken in this study per pond with sizes ranging from 20-30 cm. Fish samples were taken from 3 different ponds so that a total of 30 cantang grouper samples were found, while 1.5 L of water samples were taken from each pond. The results of measuring glucose levels showed that the highest average glucose levels in fish blood were obtained in pond number 6 (51.22 ± 14.9 mg dl-1) while the lowest was in pool number 5 (40.95 ± 15.2 mg dl-1). Similar to glucose levels, the results of blood cortisol measurements showed that the highest average cortisol levels in fish blood were obtained in pond number 6 (116.45 ± 5.49 ng ml-1) while the lowest was in pool number 5 (112.64 ± 4.55 ng ml-1). Based on the results of the regression analysis between the variables of water quality factors and stocking density on glucose levels (Figure 1), an R-value of 0.729 is obtained, which means that there is a 72.9% relationship between the variables of water quality factors and stocking density on glucose (moderate relationship). While the results of the regression analysis between the variables of water quality factors and stocking density on cortisol levels (Figure 2), an R-value of 0.722 was obtained, which means that there is a 72.2% relationship between the variables of water quality factors and stocking density on cortisol (moderate relationship). According to this research study, water quality factors that had a significant effect (p>0.05) on glucose levels in Cantang grouper were Temperature, DO, Salinity and Ammonia.

Abstract

Goldfish (Cyprinus carpio) is a freshwater fish species that is highly favored in aquaculture due to the ease of its seed production, and the demand for goldfish seed sales is increasing. A constraint that affects the success rate of goldfish farming is the emergence of fungal infections during egg hatching stages. One of the efforts that can be made to prevent fungal infections during goldfish egg hatching is by immersing the eggs in meniran extract (Phyllanthus niruri) for a certain duration to achieve the best results. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the duration of meniran extract immersion on carp eggs, which provides the best hatching rate and larval survival and is free from fungal attacks. The test materials used were meniran extract solution and carp eggs. The method used was an experiment with a completely randomized design (CRD) with 5 treatments, each with 3 replications with different durations of meniran extract immersion. Treatments A (0 minutes), B (10 minutes), C (20 minutes), D (30 minutes), and E (40 minutes) The results of the study showed that the immersion of Phyllanthus niruri extract solution had a significant effect (P 0.05) on the hatchability and survival rate of Cyprinus carpio with regards to the prevalence of fungus but did not have a significant effect (P > 0.05) on the yolk sac absorption time. The optimal immersion time for Phyllanthus niruri extract on Cyprinus carpio eggs with regards to the prevalence of fungus, hatchability, and survival rate of the larvae was in treatment D (30 minutes), which resulted in a prevalence of fungus of 5.33 2.52%, a hatching rate (HR) of 94.54 2.52%, and a larval survival rate (SR) of 93.1 1.62%.

Abstract

Platy fish is freshwater ornamental fish which has beautiful color so it has high aesthetic and economic value, belonging to a type of fish called the “live bearer” or having the ability to give birth. Current problem faced by platy fish farmers are the low production to meet the rising market demand. This causes the lack of ability to reach the desired production target. This research evaluate the effect of giving Oodev through feed to the amount of production of larvae platy fish Xhiphophorus sp. with different dose. The research used completely randomized design with treatment of different Oodev dose which were P1 (0 ml/kg fish), P2 (0,5 ml/kg fish) P3 (1,0 ml/kg fish) and P4 (1,5 Mml/kg fish) each repeated three times. Oodev hormone was given through feed two times a day with feeding rate (FR) 3%. Results showed that the giving of OODEV could raise the number of larvaes produced by female parent with the highest number of 29,33 larvaes on the P3 and lowest treatment as much as 15 larvaes at P1 (P<0,05). The number of larvae produced by the female parent P3 treatment provides the best results with total larvae amount of 176 or average each treatment of 58,76 larvaes.
