Abstract

This study examines the community resilience dimensions of beneficiary families (Kelompok Penerima Manfaat or KPM) of the Family Hope Program (Program Keluarga Harapan) in Metro City, Lampung Province, Indonesia, following the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a qualitative approach with the Most Significant Change (MSC) technique, data were collected through in-depth interviews with PKH social companions and P2K2 (Pertemuan Peningkatan Kemampuan Keluarga) coordinators, complemented by observation and documentation. The finding reveals four key resilience attributes among KPM: (1) adaptive mechanisms during the pandemic, including leveraging government assistance, asset liquidation, and livelihood diversification; (2) socio-economic transformation evidenced by children's educational advancement and growing economic independence; (3) social and spiritual capital as foundational resilience resources; and (4) mindset shifts facilitated by P2K2 monthly empowerment sessions. The study shows that while PKH's conditionality structure and companion-based mentoring have contributed to observable resilience, inconsistent sanction enforcement and recipient reluctance to exit the program remain key challenges. Recommendations include strengthening program consistency, expanding practical economic skills training, integrating digital marketing, and promoting household-level food self-sufficiency.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of financial Ratio on financial performance with Good Corporate Governance (GCG) as a moderating variable in the State-Owned Banks Association (Himpunan Bank Milik Negara – Himbara). The financial Ratio examined in this study include Non-Performing Loan (NPL), Loan to Deposit Ratio (LDR), and Capital Adequacy Ratio (CAR/KPMM), while financial performance is measured using Return on Assets (ROA). GCG is proxied by the Corporate Governance Perception Index (CGPI). The research objects consist of PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, and PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk during the 2020–2024 period. This study employs a quantitative approach using multiple linear regression analysis and Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA). The research data were obtained from the annual reports of each bank and official CGPI publications. The results indicate that NPL, LDR, and CAR/KPMM do not have a significant effect on financial performance (ROA) of Himbara banks. In contrast, Good Corporate Governance (GCG) has a positive and significant effect on banks’ financial performance. Furthermore, the moderating analysis reveals that GCG does not moderate the relationship between financial Ratio (NPL, LDR, and CAR/KPMM) and financial performance, indicating that GCG functions as a direct independent variable rather than a moderating variable. This study implies that strengthening the implementation of good corporate governance is a key factor in improving the financial performance of state-owned banks, while the management of financial Ratio should continue to adhere to prudential principles and operational efficiency.

Abstract

The halal industry has attracted increasing global attention due to rising demand not only from Muslim-majority countries but also from non-Muslim nations, alongside the growing purchasing power of Muslim populations worldwide. In Southeast Asia, halal certification is managed through diverse institutional frameworks, ranging from government-led bodies in Singapore, Brunei, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Indonesia, to non-governmental organizations in the Philippines and Thailand. Indonesia established the Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) under Law No. 33/2014 to oversee national halal certification, while Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development (JAKIM) has positioned the country as a global leader in halal governance and industry development. Thailand, despite its Buddhist majority, has advanced halal standardization through institutions such as the Halal Standard Institute and the Halal Science Centre. Within the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT), where Muslims form a demographic majority, cooperation in the halal sector is strategically significant and relatively unimpeded by sociocultural barriers. Demand for halal products in the region—spanning food, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, cosmetics, logistics, tourism, and finance—is substantial, yet much of it is currently supplied by non-Muslim countries. Recognizing this, IMT-GT members have agreed to strengthen cooperation through three pillars: halal integrity, industry development, and branding and promotion. These efforts highlight the region’s ambition to establish itself as a global halal economic bloc, integrating certification, production, and market expansion within ASEAN and beyond.

Abstract

Climate-related disasters and recurring social crises disproportionately affect vulnerable populations in developing countries, including Indonesia as one of Asia's most disaster-prone nationn, lacks a validated, simulation-based adaptive social protection (ASP) model tailored to its institutional context. This article addresses that gap by developing and validating an ASP model for Lampung Province, Indonesia, a high-risk region with documented exposure to tsunamis, flooding, and elevated socioeconomic vulnerability. The study employs a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design: qualitative data from focus group discussions with 18 key informants were used to conceptualize causal structures, while quantitative simulation using Vensim PLE 16.1.1 was employed to test two policy scenarios. Simulation results demonstrate that rapid government response reduces community vulnerability within 12 simulation periods compared to delayed response, while community capacity building yields greater long-term resilience gains with accelerating recovery slopes that outperform government-centric responses. The model identifies infrastructure recovery, psychological stability, and economic diversification as the three most influential feedback variables. These findings contribute the first validated SD-ASP model for Indonesia and provide actionable policy recommendations for integrating adaptive social protection into Indonesia's national disaster management framework.

Abstract

This study analyzes how the leadership style of school principals plays a role in improving teacher performance and its impact on student achievement at Kartika 1–2 High School in Medan. The researchers used an associative quantitative approach involving all teachers as respondents through saturated sampling techniques. Research data were obtained through questionnaires and processed using the Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results of the analysis show that principals who implement effective leadership styles are able to significantly improve teacher performance. In addition, improvements in teacher performance have also been proven to contribute directly to improvements in student achievement. This confirms that the leadership style of the principal and teacher performance are two important interrelated factors in efforts to improve student learning outcomes

Abstract

Education plays a crucial role in shaping the quality of human resources in the era of global competition. Teachers are at the forefront of this process, as their performance directly determines the effectiveness of teaching and learning. This study examines the effect of job satisfaction and work discipline on the performance of teachers at Buddhist Sunday Schools (Sekolah Minggu Buddhis, SMB) under the Guang Ji Indonesia Buddhist Assembly in North Sumatra. A quantitative research method was employed, with data collected through questionnaires distributed to 106 respondents out of a population of 144 teachers, determined using the Slovin formula at a 5% significance level. The study analyzed three main variables: job satisfaction (X1), work discipline (X2), and teacher performance (Y). Regression analysis revealed that job satisfaction positively and significantly affects teacher performance (? = 32.641 + 0.686X1), while work discipline also exerts a positive and significant effect (? = 27.065 + 0.770X2). Furthermore, job satisfaction and work discipline jointly influence teacher performance (? = 25.832 + 0.266X1 + 0.509X2). These findings confirm that both individual and combined effects of job satisfaction and work discipline are essential in enhancing teacher performance. The results suggest that increasing teacher job satisfaction through fair compensation, career development, supportive leadership, and positive working conditions alongside fostering strong work discipline, can significantly improve the quality of teaching at Buddhist Sunday Schools. This study also highlights the importance of Buddhist ethical perspectives, which emphasize diligence, self-discipline, and commitment, in strengthening teacher professionalism.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of knowledge and work motivation on human resource development with job satisfaction as a moderating variable at the UPTD Child Social Service Center of Padang Sidempuan–Panyabungan. The research is motivated by the importance of improving the quality of human resources in social services, which requires competence, work enthusiasm, and individual job satisfaction. A quantitative approach was applied using a survey technique through questionnaires distributed to UPTD employees. Data were analyzed using Moderated Regression Analysis (MRA) to examine both direct effects and the moderating role of job satisfaction. The results indicate that knowledge and work motivation have a positive and significant effect on human resource development. Furthermore, job satisfaction strengthens the relationship between knowledge and work motivation toward human resource development. Specifically, Job Satisfaction (Z) positively influences Human Resource Development (Y) with a path coefficient of 0.98 and a P-Value of 0.000. Work Motivation (X2) positively affects Human Resource Development (Y) with a coefficient of 0.304 and a P-Value of 0.003, and as a moderating variable, it shows a coefficient of 0.254 with a P-Value of 0.005. Knowledge (X1) positively affects Human Resource Development (Y) with a coefficient of 0.31 and a P-Value of 0.001, and as a moderating variable, it shows a coefficient of 0.288 with a P-Value of 0.001. These findings affirm that human resource capacity enhancement depends not only on knowledge and motivation but also on job satisfaction, which plays a crucial role in mediating and strengthening employee performance, particularly within the context of social service institutions that demand dedication and professionalism

Abstract

One of the public policy processes that rarely receives attention and is rarely carried out is the public policy evaluation stage. However, this policy evaluation activity is very important because it can assess the success or failure of a public policy implementation. As part of the government, it is appropriate for the Lampung Provincial Government to evaluate each implemented public policy to assess its performance (results and impacts) in solving public problems. The purpose of this study is to determine, describe, and analyze the policy evaluation activities that have been carried out by the Lampung Provincial Government to determine the performance of the policies. This research is a descriptive study with a qualitative approach, where data were collected through in-depth interviews and documentation. The results of the study show that public policies in the form of Regional Regulations (Perda) of Lampung Province in 2023-2024 were subjected to formal evaluation by the central government in the form of a review to determine whether the regulation contradicts the regulations above or not. Meanwhile, no substantive evaluation of these regulations was specifically carried out by the Lampung Provincial Government.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the position and implementation of Law Number 9 of 1998 on Freedom of Expression in Public within Indonesia's national legal system, focusing on the 2020-2025 period as a post-pandemic democratic transition phase. Freedom of expression is a constitutional right guaranteed by the 1945 Constitution, yet violations by law enforcement officers frequently occur in practice. This research employs a normative juridical method with statutory, conceptual, and case approaches. The results indicate that although Law No. 9 of 1998 normatively guarantees citizens' rights to express opinions in public, its implementation during 2020-2025 still faces various challenges. Data from Komnas HAM and YLBHI show an increase in violation cases from 42 cases in 2020 to 67 cases in 2023. Law enforcement officers often act repressively, misinterpret notification procedures, and demonstrate weak supervision of rights violations by authorities. Therefore, legal reform

Abstract

This study examines the effect of the Audit Committee on Financial Reporting Quality through the implementation of Risk-Based Internal Audit conducted by the Internal Audit Unit (SPI) as a mediating variable at PT Pelabuhan Indonesia I (Pelindo I) Medan. The research adopts a quantitative approach with an explanatory design. Primary data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire administered to 45 respondents (census sampling) comprising SPI personnel, audit committee members, and accounting and finance staff. Data were analyzed using SEM-PLS (SmartPLS) with a bootstrapping procedure to test direct and indirect effects. The results indicate that the Audit Committee has a positive and significant effect on the implementation of SPI risk-based audit oversight, and that SPI risk-based audit oversight has a positive and significant effect on financial reporting quality. The mediation test also confirms a positive and significant indirect effect of the Audit Committee on financial reporting quality through SPI risk-based audit oversight. These findings suggest that improvements in financial reporting quality are driven not only by the Audit Committee's direct effectiveness, but more importantly by strengthening the implementation of risk-based internal audit oversight. Practically, firms should enhance the Audit Committee's role in promoting risk-based audit planning, execution, reporting, and follow-up processes to ensure financial reporting becomes more reliable and timely.
