Abstract

The research is aimed at the manufacture of flaywheel for hammer mill machines using the method of drilling, milling and turning, which aims to keep the engine rotation stable on the machine due to excess load and is a mass that rotates and is used as a storage of energy inside the machine. This research focuses on drilling, milling, and turning processes on low-carbon steels. (ST 40 Steel). The Flywheel is a component that is a plate that because of its weight can withstand drastic speed changes so that the rotation movement of the machinery shaft becomes more smooth. The drilling, milling and turning methods are machining methods that are widely used in the manufacturing industry. From the results of the research using the methods of drilling, milling and turning the following are on the process of making flywheel i.e. with the time of the drilling process of the production of sepie holes 62.82 minutes, the milling process of smoothing 2 surfaces of the work object 242.06 hours and the turning of the profile of 2 surface work object 117.6 hours with a total production time of about 15 days. Therefore, the results of this research provide useful guidance for the industry to optimize the drilling, milling and turning processes in flywheel manufacturing.

Abstract

Electrical energy is energy that is really needed in modern times like now. As the population increases and the economic activity of the population increases, consumption of electrical energy increases. To overcome this problem, namely by creating a power plant with renewable energy, one example is a wave power plant. Wave power plants are plants that rely on wave energy to produce electricity. The aim of this research is to analyze the performance of wave power generators using a buoy system in the coastal area of ​​North Jakarta. By carrying out a total of 10 days of testing in 2 different places, namely Mutiara Beach and Wika Beach, all in North Jakarta. This wave power generator with a buoy system is capable of producing the highest electrical power of 24.9 volts when using a tube-style buoy at Mutiara Beach, while the lowest power is obtained when using a beam-style buoy, namely 6.65 watts at Wika Beach.

Abstract

Leaf springs are springs commonly used in vehicles and have a shape like a flat plate with a certain width and then subjected to lateral loads that make the plate bend. As a spring, the leaf spring has a function as a component of the suspension system to absorb shock or impact from the road surface and also withstand wheel vibrations so that these vibrations are not transmitted to the vehicle body. Failure of leaf springs on canter trucks is caused by uneven road conditions that give the maximum load on the rear leaf springs of the truck, causing the leaf springs to break due to repeated loading. In this research, it has the aim of obtaining the equivalent alternating stress, life cycle, fatigue sensitivity, and safety factor values from testing with a load of 10000 kg. This research process is to examine the specifications of 9-layer leaf springs.

Abstract

PT Sinergi Persada Nusantara is a company engaged in manufacturing, fabrication and machining services. To support the production process in the industry, especially the automotive industry, heavy equipment, industrial special tools and consumer goods. Maintenance is all the activities needed to maintain the quality of equipment or machinery to keep it functioning properly and keep the facility or equipment always in a state of readiness. FMEA (Failure Mode Effect Analysis) is a method for evaluating the possibility of failure of a system, design, process or service to make handling steps. From the analysis of the RPN calculation on the RHINO HT-200A SMAW welding machine, the overall result is 817. This value exceeds the welding machine maintenance standards set with the overall RPN value must be below 400. A high RPN value indicates a low level of reliability on the tool.

Abstract

Threshing has an important role in rice postharvest activities. Using the wrong threshing technique results in high yield losses. Based on these problems, the people of Sambas Regency developed a power thresher by making a mini power thresher to meet the needs of local farmers. This research was conducted to find information on the specifications and performance of the mini power thresher through verification tests and performance tests. Based on the verification test results, the overall dimensions in the working position are 1,020 mm long, 950 mm wide and 1,170 mm high, the threshing cylinder diameter is 220 mm, and the threshing cylinder length is 690 mm. Based on SNI standards, this mini power thresher is included in the category of small power thresher. The test was carried out on rice of the Inpari variety with a threshing cylinder rotational speed of 650 rpm. Based on the results of the performance test, it was obtained that the feeding capacity was 412.73 kg/hour, the threshing capacity was 164.40 kg/hour, the cleanliness level was 94.54%, the percentage of unhulled grain was 1.75%, the threshing efficiency was 98.25%, the percentage of grain was scattered 0.43%, and the percentage of yield loss is 2.18%. These results indicate that the capacity for feeding and threshing still does not meet the SNI standard criteria for small power thresher.

Abstract

This research explores the potential of a plastic extruder machine as a solution to address plastic waste by utilizing high temperatures to melt and form plastic blocks. The machine aims to determine the optimal temperature for the production of plastic pellets. Despite initially producing plastic liquid, the machine is expected to effectively reduce plastic waste. The machine specifications involve an electric motor, gearbox, melting furnace, intake, melting spiral, output, pulley, and V-belt. Analysis of electric motor planning determines the required power. Gearbox planning involves gearbox ratio and required torque. Planning for pulleys and V-belts is conducted to transmit power from the motor to the machine's drive system. Planning for shafts and bearings was also carried out. The plastic extruder machine holds promise as a significant solution for plastic waste recycling. The manufacturing cost of the machine is found to be Rp17,349,350 and can be further reduced with a more optimal design. Recommendations for future research include enhancing detailed analysis and utilizing a richer set of references.

Abstract

Sandblasting is a process for cleaning the surface of contaminated materials such as rust, salt, oil, paint and to obtain material profile characteristics to either roughen or smooth, where this process is often found in manufacturing companies. The sandblasting process is carried out by shooting abrasive material with high air pressure onto the metal surface so that that the dirt stuck to it will be eroded. Several methods can be used for cleaning metal surfaces, such as brushing with a wire, immersion in an acid solution, or with spraying solid particles in the form of sand as an abrasive substance or called sandblasting. This research design uses SS400 carbon steel material and makes a cabin using Galvanized Plate. The study results show that it can provide benefits in the process, and increase insight into how sandblasting equipment technology can be developed in the future.

Abstract

Screw type water turbine is one type of water turbine that has the potential to generate electricity on a small scale that is environmentally friendly, where this screw type water turbine is very suitable for rivers and irrigation flows in the territory of Indonesia. In this study, data analysis is aimed at the characteristics of the output power of the Archimedes screw turbine against the opening of the stopcock valve and testing is carried out on the modeling of this Pikohydro power plant including measuring water discharge, generator rotation, voltage, current, torque and generator output power and efficiency. In the process of making and testing screw-type water turbines, the addition of a water reservoir frame and a Weir V-Nocth discharge measuring device that measures the height of the discharge and the height of the turbine head tested. This study took place to determine the performance of screw turbines by testing variations in water discharge, by testing the Stopkran opening with 3 variations, namely ½ (38 mm wide), ¾ (50 mm wide), 1 (76 mm wide) with each producing water discharge 0.0045 m3 / s, 0.0065 m3 / s, 0.0078 m3 / s. The turbine tilt angle used is 30º and the turbine head is 0.9 m. The process of testing the tool is carried out in the open and the presence of PLN electric current, the goal is to make it easier to fill the water reservoir using a dip pump. After testing and calculating the data, the maximum result of shaft rotation is 1470 rpm with an output power of 53.7 watts at a discharge of 0.0078 m3/s. and maximum torque produced was 4.428 Nm at a discharge of 0.0045 m3/s and the maximum turbine efficiency of 0.078% at a discharge of 0.0078 m3/s.

Abstract

The cement industry is one of the most important industries to fulfill the needs of infrastructure, construction, and development. The rotary dryer, as a commonly used drying equipment in the cement manufacturing industry, works with the principle of flowing heat directly into a rotating tube containing raw materials to be dried. The research was conducted by designing a rotary dryer with dimensions of 3100 mm long, 1000 mm wide, 620 mm high, and 750 mm diameter tube and 2400 mm long using SolidWorks 2022 software and simulating the machine frame using Ansys 2023 software. This machine uses a 20 HP electric motor to drive the tube during the drying process with a tube capacity of 450 kg/hour and a rotating speed of 15 rpm. The frame material uses AISI 1020 steel. Based on the CFD simulation results on the rotary dryer machine tube, the best heat distribution with drying efficiency seen from the heat distribution is 74%.

Abstract

Aluminum is a type of metal lightweight and easy to shape so it is widely used for several applications including vehicle wheels. The surface of vehicle wheels needs a certain roughness/smoothness to be more aesthetically appealing and production defects during the manufacturing process can be reduced. Anodizing on aluminum has been studied before, but so far there are still not many studies that specifically analyze the results of anodizing on surface smoothness. The purpose of this study is to analyze the roughness of aluminum anodization results when varying the immersion time. Results of this study are compared to the standard roughness of vehicle wheels. The method used is the anodizing process with variable anodizing times of 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 minutes. Then surface roughness testing was carried out using a roughness tester. The results showed that anodizing time plays a role in determining the surface roughness / smoothness of the material. The longer the anodizing time the rougher the resulting surface. The best roughness value occurs in the 40-minute time variation with a roughness value of 0.7683 µm and can meet the DIN 3760 quality standard. With this information, an alternative material to replace vehicle wheels The purpose of this study is to analyze the roughness of aluminum anodizing results by varying the soaking time. The results of this study were compared with the standard roughness of car wheels.
