Abstract

Arabic textbooks play a very important role in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (Islamic primary schools) in language acquisition and understanding the religious and cultural aspects of Arabic. This research examines the role of Arabic textbooks in the learning process, teaching practices, and curriculum implementation in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah. Using a qualitative approach, this study analyzes various themes, such as textbook content, conformity to the curriculum, and student engagement. The results show that Arabic textbooks support the development of students' basic language skills, but lack interactive exercises and variations in assessment. To maximize their effectiveness, textbooks should be combined with innovative teaching strategies and continuously adapted to evolving educational needs. A well-designed textbook, together with diverse teaching methods, can improve student learning outcomes. Future research is recommended to focus on developing textbooks with modern pedagogical approaches that involve feedback from teachers and students, in order to increase relevance and engagement. Overall, Arabic textbooks have a vital role to play in Madrasah Ibtidaiyah, but their impact can be optimized through continuous improvement of teaching design and practice.

Abstract

Language is a means of communication used by people to interact. There are two types of communication, namely one-way communication and two-way communication. Sermons are an example of one-way communication. This study discusses the forms and functions of illocutionary speech acts in the Eid al-Adha sermon at Sragen Regency Square in 2024. The purpose of this study is to describe the forms and functions of illocutionary speech acts included in the Eid al-Adha sermon at Sragen Regency Square in 2024. Abstract

This research deals with a study of ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī’s perspective on Qur’anic Nazm, which makes it a basis for understanding the beauty of the eloquence of the Holy Qur’an. The research has shown that ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī made a qualitative shift in his study of grammar, as he gave priority to meaning over words, and considered that grammar has an interconnected relationship between words and meanings that must be considered according to the rules of grammar, which achieves an impact on the soul of the listener. The nature of the research necessitated the use of the descriptive analytical method by collecting and analyzing data from primary sources such as Dalāʾil al-Iʿjāz and al-Risālah al-Shāfiyyah comparing ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī’s vision with the some of previous scholars’ opinions who contributed to developing this idea. The research also discussed ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī’s criticism of the Ṣarfah theory, which denies Nazm as an aspect of the Qur’anic miracle. The findings underscore that ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī raised Nazm to a new level, that the Holy Qur’an is miraculous with its Nazm due to the strong correspondence between meanings, words, and grammar, which constitutes a unique Nazm that humans can never match. The research results highlight ‘Abd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī’s contribution in employing grammar and rhetoric to understand the aesthetic aspects of Nazm, which enriches rhetorical and interpretive studies in Islamic heritage.

Abstract

This study analyzes the poem Hawāmish 'alā Daftar al-Naksa by Nizar Qabbani through the perspective of Alan Swingewood's sociology of literature. This poem reflects the social, cultural, and political reality of the Palestinian people who are suffering from the prolonged Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The research aims to understand how this poem depicts the trauma of Arab defeat, criticism of the authorities, and hope for future generations. A descriptive qualitative method was used with a focus on content analysis, linking the poem's themes with its socio-historical context. The results show that Qabbani depicts social realities such as economic backwardness, internal conflict, and political repression. The poem also serves as a tool of social criticism that inspires change, especially through a call to the younger generation to fight injustice and build a better future. As such, it is not only a passive reflection of reality, but also a tool of resistance against repressive socio-political conditions. Within the framework of literary sociology, this poem emphasizes the close relationship between the author's social position and the messages contained in his work.

Abstract

This study examines prosaic poetry of pesantren, focusing on the use of Arabic diction, Islamic symbolism, and the concepts of destiny and divine will in Islamic-sense poetry or literature. The research aims to understand how these elements shape aesthetics and meaning in prosaic poetry written by teachers at Madrasah Bertaraf Internasional (MBI) Pesantren Amanatul Ummah. Using a qualitative approach, the study analyzes a collection of prosaic poetry produced during a creative writing workshop. The findings reveal that Arabic diction functions not only as a linguistic element but also as an Islamic identity marker. Islamic symbolism in poetry reflects writers’ religious experiences, while the concepts of destiny and divine will highlight spiritual reflections in their works. This study contributes to contemporary Islamic literary studies and offers new perspectives on the relationship between literature, language, and religious values within the pesantren educational context.
